When this album dropped in the eighties I didn't listen to this type of music at all. By that time I was completely immersed in alternative and indie and never listened to top 40 much less any R&B ever. It took only once for a friend of mine to play this for me and I knew I was listening to a once in a lifetime artist and one of the greatest albums ever. This album broke through all my preconceived notions and attitudes of soul/r&b and made me a believer.
I just became your 1K like for this video! Anita Baker is an artist that I didn't appreciate nearly enough when this song came out (1986) but the more I listen to her and hear young folks like yourself totally getting it right off the bat, the more I love her. Great voice, great composition, great percussion. :)
