The 7th Guest -Philips CD-i- Intro and gameplay

I've alway had a softspot for my CD-i...Yes its a rubbish console but it's just so different from all other consoles and the experince so unique. Yes the 7th Guest is horrible today, but at the time it looked and sounded amazing and I've always quite liked the FMV games of the 90's

I remember wanting the system when I was little, but that price tag was too huge for my parents. I heard I dodged a bullet there, but at the time some of those games might have been fun.

I did too but my parents wouldn't budge so i gave up. Luckily i had a friend in my street that was spoiled rotten so i used to play his. Fond memories of this game. Not so much the puzzles more the music and video which was so new to me at the time

It was an expensive system that didn't do very well but there were definitely some good games on the CDi, 7th Guest being a good example.

Apparently you also needed a digital video cartridge for this one? That was an extra GBP 179 in the UK...

What I find strange is what's missing. Music is missing from several segments, along with some voice clips. The cake puzzle originally had animations of them lifting as well. Yes it's a lot smoother moving from spot to spot, but is that really worth it if content has to be cut?

I guess making it fit all on once CD meant cuts in places
