Great Alpine Road | Victoria Australia

The Great Alpine Road (B500), is a one of the most spectacular roads in Victoria, Australia, running from Wangaratta to Bairnsdale.339km road take you from Wangaratta through the Ovens Valley to Harrietville, up and over the alpine resort of Mount Hotham, then down to the Gippsland city of Bairnsdale through Omeo.
This is the Australia's highest year-round accessible sealed road.During the snow season it is a mandatory to carry snow chains at all times between Harrietville and Omeo. These specially designed chains can be fitted to your vehicle's wheels and provide increased grip on the road. A number of service stations and other businesses in towns along the Great Alpine Road allow you to hire or purchase snow chains specially in HarrietVille.

It will take around 4 hours, on our journey we stayed overnight at Omeo .. it took us nearly 2 hours from Bright to Omeo and next day from Omeo to Bairnsdale nearly an other 2 hours
