    The Lollar sounds very similar to the CS ‘59 pickup in the Mike Dirnt sig bass . Fantastic pickup

    That snare and high hat came in nice and clear. Oh wait, this is a bass guitar video! That sounded great too.
    The difference between the pickups wasn't huge.

    IMO the Fralin P-Bass pickup is the clearest-sounding pickup out there. I personally love the warn fatness that the Lollar pickup has.

    Came across this comparison at the right time. I'm thinking of Lollars or Dominger p bass pickups for my bass. Think the Lollars might go in this time.

    雰囲気のある優しいリンディ、例えるなら「ぱぴぷぺぽ」で、音程抜けの良い芯のあるローラーは少し濁点がついたような「ばびぶべぼ」といった印象。PU比較は大体どちらかが好き!となりますが、これはホントに甲乙つけ難い。何十回と聞いて個人的にはローラーが好き!となりました。メイプル指板との相性もイイのかもしれませんね。とても参考になりました。ありがとうございます。

    Lollar has all that great mid range to it. Its a more defining sound... It's like I can hear the wood and tone and finger work. I'd imagine is a little more transcribable too in a heavy mix. The Fralin just feels like a typical "bass" sound... I just hear "a bass." If I want to cut a record and have the bass sound like someone virtuosic might be behind it, my ears would want to hear that Lollar for sure.

    • @jkf9167
      @jkf9167 3 года назад +3

      It depends how loud the music is that you're playing. I think that each pickup sounds unique. I think that if you were to add a bunch of loud guitars over it, the upper-mid on the Fralins would pop out more than the more balanced midrange on the Lollars, which could get lost in the mess. They'd both sound good, but the Fralins would have a more specific P-Bass sound with loud guitars.

    Damn! After many years of avoiding P basses I'm building my first one soon and I was pretty much set on the Fralins but I may be swerved onto the Lollars. I actually think that the Fralin is the "better" pickup for tightness and clarity but the Lollars give a bit more breadth in their sound and I get the impression that if you were really nasty to the strings, they'd give quite an expressive sound/sounds. Thanks for doing this video, it's very helpful

    Depends on the bass and how loud and bright the wood sounds.. but I’d say the Lollars sound more open and less compressed. Great clarity. Best for most basses. Fralins if you need to smooth out and warm up or “vintage up” a bass.

      @@18JR78 i really hope you're joking about that,because Wood is THE only thing that matters, if the bass has a high resonance then the pickup will reproduce that tone cleaner than say a bass with a darker muddier tone unpluged.

    Man; excellent comparison and playing. That extra growl of the Lollar makes me think of the denser ash early 70’s era, whereas the gentler attack of the Fralin has me thinking of the early- to mid-60’s P’s I’ve had the pleasure of playing. Cheers.

    Great video, thank you. This is the comparison I needed.
    In this video I really prefer the Lindy. On the other hand, in many other videos and soundfiles I prefer the Lollar. So probably the amps, the players, the wood...?
    For me it's most important, the pickup is clear and dynamic. I like to form the sound with my fingers. Which one would you recommend?

    • @naototada
      @naototada  Год назад +1

      As you say, if you value the natural bass material and the sound of the player, then Lindy is the one for you. However, I personally feel Lindy's output is low. That's why I like 10% overwound!
