Predrilling them holes through the boards is extra work but it makes for less stripped heads and better fits. I'm sure you have a second cordless drill to do that?! 😎
Well done Eric, the battle continues but the end is drawing ever closer. ....Don't forget the screw that you dropped through the boards, and watch out that the beetle you tossed overboard is waiting for you down there. 🪳 😂🤣😂
I keep track of all dropped fasteners, and I go over the area with a large magnet and sometimes a metal detector to pick up strays. I used to go barefoot a lot, so I don't like leaving sharp things on the ground. Haven't heard from the beetle.
@@OregonOldTimer Such is my 75 year old memory, that last night when I wrote the above, I couldn't remember wether or not I'd seen you with a Metal Detector, 🤔 however 🛏💤today, I can picture you with it testing logs for nails and wire on the mill.
All our kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids are too far away, but I prefer working alone. It's enough to keep track of what I'm doing without having to watch out for someone else.
I really enjoy watching both your channels and seeing what projects your up to. If you don't mind me asking and you can certainly tell me it's none of my business but I was curious to what profession you had before you retired. I've watched you build boats, decks and wood bowls. Just wondering, thanks.
it's coming along 👍👍👍 it's been a long since since I've seen someone use soap on a screw. Brings back memories in the old days. 😎☕
Soap or paraffin. I learned that at from my father.

I do and I should. Most of the problem is in removing old fasteners, though.
Looking good!
Thank you, Jared.

@@m00nscaping76 I keep track of what I drop and do my best to recover everything with magnet and metal detector.
When it comes to saving used wood screws, your the prime example of waste not want not, or more time then money........
Yep.
im wondering why none of your family (youngsters) helped you. Its hard to imagine anyone building something like this alone. hats off to you sir

About the only job I never had was a paper route, but I'm a retired airline pilot.
@@OregonOldTimer wow that’s cool!
@@OregonOldTimer thats really something...i bet youve got some good stories from that eh
I have a few boards to replace this year. Debating whether to just hire someone and be done with it. We’ll see.
Depends on which is more important, time and trouble or money. Or, in my case, enjoyment. Are you still coming down for the tulips?
