looks amazing this one, i'd be all over this if i was over there - watching from England and this is somewhat reminiscent of our forest riding, wet, slippy, muddy and rocky 🙂 heart goes out to all those in NC right now
I've been saying for years that the south east needs some love from the BDR community. I've been riding north alabama, north Georgia, western NC for years. Love it up there!!!
the Smokey Mountain 500, South East Adventure Trail and Georgia Traverse exist. Excited to check out this Chattahoochee route but it doesn't have to be "BDR" to be a great adventure route
I live in Birmingham and have ridden all over alabama. Unfortunately Alabama does not have the quality or quantity of “BDR roads” to make it a destination for motorcyclists. But North Georgia is amazing. I’m still discovering great roads after decades of riding. Unfortunately nothing east of the Mississippi River compares to the quality and quantity of motorcycle roads out west
@@jackal3911I’ve been reading a lot about it and watching some videos. Seems like they’re definitely different enough. Always nice to have options, doesn’t have to be a competition
Kirk is the consummate tour guide. His knowledge of the area - not just the routes, but the stops and the history - made this film so compelling. The photography and the editing was superb. It's amazing what those bikes can do! There's something very special about North Georgia. It was always one of my favorite places to ride.
Just got back from doing this ride. I’m a GA native and have done most if not all of these roads already, but it’s a great curated route and has all my favorites. Definitely recommend!
Glad to see more BDR work in the southeast. The route looks amazing. As a warning, if you see a turtle with a long tail and beak like the one in this video, it's a snapping turtle and can break bones with it's bite. This one looks like a baby though.
Great video of some of the best rides in the Southeast. I've been riding up there for about 20 years. It was great to see trails I've ridden turned into a BDR.
Growing up in this area, I've ridden most of these tracks. It's super nice you guys turned it into a proper route and bringing business to the local Mom and Pop country stores etc! Really appreciate what you guys do! Now lets go ride and film it!!!
Nice film as usual, and I'm glad the Southeast is now on the map, BDR-wise. We don't have the mile-high Rocky Mountains, nor the sandy deserts, but North Georgia and the Carolinas hold a special beauty all their own. Glad you had a good time! Y'all come back now, ...y'hear?
What a great looking and fun route! I live in north AL and have not done any of the BDR's, but I'm hoping that changes for me in the next couple years. This one will be the first one I do! Cheers!
@klxcountry if I did it, I'd definitely want to have company. I have a buddy that has a Tiger 900, he'd probably be interested, too. I'm on a 1250 GSA. I would want to switch over to soft luggage instead of my hard panniers.
As someone who has lived in central Georgia for a little more than a decade, this was desperately needed; but we need more. There is virtually no good adventure or dualsport riding anywhere except north Ga. I'm too far away to go find all of those spots. I need logged routes that I can go experience. Thanks again, and we hope to see more.
haha. these guys make it look easy. the part after the river crossing was my favorite. their were some i would say not beginner parts there. only jacked up jeep vehicles can get thru that area so be prepared it will challenge you in a few spots.....loved the twistys....
Those pups were so ADORABLE. We stopped for almost an hour trying to coax them out with lunch meat. Our support guy Mani was there and able to coordinate sending the shelter GPS coords for pickup ASAP.
50/50 would be fine if it’s not super sloppy wet and you’re familiar with slick mud. I was running Motoz Tractionator Rallz on my R1200GS - they performed great with grabbing embedded rocks and even grippy in the flat wet clay. Keep in mind the tires aren’t the deal breaker, but your skill level and experience in slimy rocky claybed terrain will determine your success (no matter the bike).
Good to know, Jess. I often run D606s in the east. I spent some time out west with the venerable Pat Jacques; she turned me on to the Tractionator Rallz. ~ MewZiKat of TN mtns
@RideBDR Yo! What the heck, no credits for that sweet sweet furr baby Rich Jones was carrying about? Serious lack of judgement to ignore acknowledging a cat! The internet will never forgive you! Starting a petition that the cat is mentioned. ;)
Good call, Trash! I wondered the same thing. Kiki ❤. Never ignore a cat (or any strays...I'm happy to hear the pups found homes). ~ MewZiKat of TN mtns
Hi Scott...as wonderful as some of the big bikes are you can ride just about anything with tall suspension and good tires on the BDRs. I have ridden my humble WeeTwoFiddy CRF Rally cross country on TransAmerica Trail, parts of several BDRs in the process of TAT, WYBDR, MABDR and beyond. A used Japanese dual-sport moto can be had for a fraction of the price of the big bikes yet still get out there. Go get you some BDR...it is good for the soul. Best wishes. ~ MewZiKat of TN mtns
Bro, there are so many good bikes for a fraction of the price. I have a drz400s as my little dualsport/adventure bike. It may not have all the bells and whistles, but it eats up the terrain just as good and is lighter to pick up and cheaper to fix if it breaks (which it never has!)
Guess you’re not following who sponsored the route and the filming, if you go look at all BDR films they are sponsored by different bike brands……. Nothing wrong with a gs let alone a Klr, ride your ride
You obviously know nothing about BDR’s. BMW is the #1 sponsor by a huge margin. Yes, other companies are involved but minuscule in comparison to BMW. From the dozen or so BDR documentaries I’ve seen, it’s usually 80-90% riders on BMW GS’s.
I love the BDR organization and all it does but I’m getting tired of the videos being commercials for massive overpriced bikes. Rich people playing with digital ride settings for each type of gravel is not what adventure riding is about! It’s too bad you guys try so hard to cut out the average Joe bikes from the footage. You come across like a bunch upperclass folks touring the land of the common folk. How about regular people on regular bikes with minimal packs just riding and enjoying?
Please tell me you guys waited for someone to pick up those clearly dumped puppies as opposed to just riding off and hoping the humane society would find them?
@@kleinbiker1 Our support guy Mani stayed behind and contacted the shelter with specific GPS coords. They confirmed pickup. And yes they were clearly dumped, those poor pups. Glad Louise stopped where she did otherwise we never would have heard them!

If you're used to the climate out west and you do this in late summer, better buckle up, buttercup! The heat and humidity is no joke!
The shade from all the trees was quite a nice reprieve, and the rain helped but definitely made the slick clay more adventurous 😂

Not sure if it's been answered but I'd love a breakdown of the gear. Specifically the chin mounts for GoPros and the soft bags on the big BMWs...
I can tell you my soft bags are the Mosko moto pannier system. Not sure about the GoPro mounts specifically

Pirelli rally str tires would work for this route?
As someone who lives in Georgia, I just wish that I could actually afford a motorcycle...
Put a little away each month... First or second Gen KLRs can be had for under $3K
What was the name of the place you stayed that served Chicken and Catfish in Dillard?
7min mark - BMW did not actually get the idea, it was HD that was first to market the Turtle Suspension.😁
