I remember the first time I watched this video. It was so SPECTACULARLY EPIC as if I couldn't believe what I was looking at before me. I was so amazed and inspired and that's when I learned what Photoshop was. Damn, I also remember how much of a noob I was before. I had Photoshop but no graphics tablet. Never knew how I could draw something like this so I sticked with MS Paint, and hoping that someday, I would be able to reach this goal. But that day has come and things have changed and I have improved a lot and watching this video again makes me feel so happy that I have started a journey with it and been this far. I won't forget this.
+Just A Sadist no man, you should be inspired :) I was a noob once, but this vid even got me inspired to do better, no matter how far our skills were before, but now I know I am very close to what he can already do. Keep going.
nekif820 it's been a year since you replied to my comment here and I just wanted to let you know that despite being very frustrated with myself that day, I DIDN'T actually quit and now even I can see how much better I've gotten. thank you
Its mostly perspective. The top part is pointed towards the viewer, so you're going to see less of it. The jaw itself is more pointed down, so the mouth can open and the fire can come out and you see more of it. That's why it looks so long.
WHOA! the fact that such detailed work was done on a graphics tablet instead of a display graphics tablet, it's so awesome! I recently bought an ituos5 L and I'm already getting the hang of it. The size of the tablet (active area) almost matches the size of my Razer Blade's screen so it wasn't hard to adjust to the feel of the tablet... WACOM IS SO AWESOME!
Phenomenal. Just totally phenomenal. Has made me want to start painting again and have just asked 'Santa' for a Graphics Tablet. You're an inspiration sir!
even though the dragon isnt too accurate propotion-wise it really does look spectacular after all the work you do with colouring/lighting etc. Keep it up :)
it's probably your most viewed because it has fire, which almost everyone has a hard time with. though you do it in a snap and it looks freaking awesome
Wow, really cool how you turned your whole sketch and it details into the paining. Everything seems simple step by step, but as a whole it comes out to be a really cool, complex piece. c:
The more you touch up the better it gets, it seems never ending, just when you think; wow that's good, then another touch up, oh shit, much better, then another touch up, oh my goodness, that is amazing.
That's absolutely stunning. I do photo-manipulation (editing photos into new images) in my spare time and it would take me days to manipulate something into a picture of that standard. I take my hat off to you :)
As my knowledge of art grows from the first time i saw this with my jaw hitting the floor, i seem to be shouting "CHEATER" more and more throughout the years. This is my 20th time watching this and i still yell at your video for cheating but i can't help but think to myself, " Even if i could do something like that i would call myself a cheater." and that amazing finish leads me to yet again be astonished with my jaw hitting the floor. You're an amazing artist and don't let anyone tell you wrong
I watched this when I just started my career :) It was first day of my career. And 11-12 years is passed... Wow... It's like a yesterday:) I was watching and trying to understand:)
I like your work, I read somewhere that you hate this image…why? This is awesome work here I love how you cut the highlights back in. I too remember when the digital age took over the world and there were digital artists and traditional ones but I also remember how as soon as the traditional artists learned how to use the digital tools they blew everyone out of the water, you would be one of them. Good Stuff maynard!
I remember when I first introduced myself on RUclips, this is the very first speed paint I have ever watched on RUclips....just thought everyone needed to know that :]
I cannot draw as well but I think they are some aspects that can help you by improving your paintingskills. the most important thing are proportions, without exact proportions you drawing looks weird...maybe you can improve this by literally measuring distances between angles and "things" on well done drawings. After a little practice your brain saves these proportions and you learn to use this info. Another tip is to analyse good drawings or watch videos where painters explain what theyre doing
i've seen better....mmm... now that i think about it, you are actually the most talented guy i've seen in a while!! total thumbs up! (in case it was not clear i was lying at the beginning!)
I suggest learning forms and perspectives first before moving on to painting. Both of them are the most important for a good drawing to come alive. Try to understand the subject before drawing it because once you understand it , sketching it out will be a piece of cake. Some people are against copying other artists drawings but i found out it is actually quite a fast way to improve lines. Ctrl paint is also a good website that i recommend checking out.
Now this is REAL art... non of that fake BULLSHIT with coppying a picture taken by a camera and cutting out bits with a tool and blending all that crap... Starting from scratch drawing REAL art. Thank you.
The most stunning thing concerning this video, is that some people actually have disliked this video.... The last idiot has not yet been born. This artwork is absolutely brilliant. True talent!
@Cschive could be just from the perception. since youre seeing the upper jaw from a relatively straight on position, and the lower jaw hangs open, it would appear larger. but then again, you could be right :P either way its a great piece

yeah :D
Also relevant to me
I JUST clicked on these videos for the same thing! :'D
It's really cool how a lot of these old speed painting videos inspired a generation of artists.
@@spartanK42 Agreed. Still going strong too! 💪
What makes this extremely epic that if you pause the video at any point it still looks so badass!
yet, it took my teacher 14 hours to draw an eagle
really??
Ace Brown
yeet he says he drew an eagle with pencil and it took him 14 hours
Damn. I remember watching you back when I was like 8 or 9 and I was astonished
What program is that
photoshop or painter idk, but both apps can make this ;)
I quit
+Just A Sadist no man, you should be inspired :) I was a noob once, but this vid even got me inspired to do better, no matter how far our skills were before, but now I know I am very close to what he can already do. Keep going.

.. Is it just me or is the bottom half of the jaw way too long
it's not just you i thought of that one creature form Amnesia
Its mostly perspective. The top part is pointed towards the viewer, so you're going to see less of it. The jaw itself is more pointed down, so the mouth can open and the fire can come out and you see more of it. That's why it looks so long.
because of perspective and angle u can see less upper jaw but more lower jaw
Old but gold. I've come back to this video multiple times and enjoyed it everytime. It looks amazing. This is awesome and looks cool.
Thanks!!

OH MY GOD. it got better and better every second. whenever i thought it was over you added something even more amazing on it! WOW!
I always wondered what the process was for drawing something like this with so much detail. You are freaking amazing with this program.
One of my favourite pieces and one of my key influences within Digital art. I have learnt alot within my digital artworks
Phenomenal. Just totally phenomenal. Has made me want to start painting again and have just asked 'Santa' for a Graphics Tablet. You're an inspiration sir!
very very impressive. I don't think most people comprehend how much it takes to create one image like that. Great work.

The best draw I ever seen in the history of computer drawings
The more you touch up the better it gets, it seems never ending, just when you think; wow that's good, then another touch up, oh shit, much better, then another touch up, oh my goodness, that is amazing.

It is always nice to see a blank page fill up with awesomeness over time.
so you mean this is less better than any of your work? man! you're a GOD!
Really interesting to see the entire process, and a good inspiration for future artists!

I wish dragons really existed. As a fantasy reader, a Game of Thrones fan and Skyrim fan, I can't stop thinking of them. They're so cool and awesome.
That's awesome!! I hope my digital paintings will become as detailed as this one one day:)
This is amazing. I'm in awe. My dragons always look deformed, so I've never posted them. You got skill!
This may have been the first video I ever watched on RUclips.
