This recipe was outstanding made this twice so far, both times excellent results. Definitely brought back childhood memories. Definitely a keeper for many more times to be made!
These look yummy. I grew up in Scotland where we also have Snowballs, similar but different. The (white) sponge halves are sandwiched with thin strawberry or raspberry jam, dipped in runny white icing like yours, and rolled in white coconut, so they look to a child like a real snowball. The look of your Snowballs also reminded me of what we called Madeleines, which bear no relation to the far more sophisticated Proustian French ones. It was (and still is) a flat-topped cone of sponge, painted all over in thin red jam, rolled in coconut and topped with a glacé cherry.
I thought snowballs were uniquely cape townian 😅 but this one is different though because we make a regular vanilla cupcake and then cover it in pink apricot jam and coconut
Hi there 😊 The strawberry Sponge Cake ... I will definitely do it next week 😉 Please check if this is similar: ruclips.net/video/Uw2USk19BBE/видео.html
Hi 👋 My apologies. I don't seem to be getting notifications. It does not need to soak. Just coat in warm syrup, drain of the excess and dip in coconut 😉
No discredit to the video I will definitely try this recipe but where can I buy wearings snowballs in Durbs in 2022 they just taste sooi great and I cant buy them in Jozi

Looks yummy do u use cake flour or self-raising flour
Cake flour and baking powder. You could use an equal amount of self raising flour and leave out the raising agent 😉
♥️🧁 it was yummy 🥳
Brings back memories. Thank u! Next, please can we get the strawberry and cream sponge cake that we used to get in a box?
