    Alerts of incoming anxiety, if it's a signal of a trigger, can be a medical alert depending on what physically happens to you after a trigger. I also have CPTSD and have a service dog. 😁💗

    I love how honest you are. Your dog isn’t perfect, almost no dog is. I sometimes doubt if my 11 month old service dog is were she should be. She gets over exited, especially in places were a lot is going on! I don’t like SD RUclipsrs who only talk about the good parts and cut away the bad stuff. Training a SD is really hard work, and indeed more than I signed up for, lol. But we keep going strong haha

    OMG someone else who knows about Pierogi!! Also, yes very important sometimes I will go with my pup and other times don't. Like I have an acting opportunity and I have to debate if he is ready or if I am ready for him to be on set while I am acting because that is a long day.

    I’m working with getting my 4-5 month old puppy to get use to cars, I wait awhile in between taking her on walks, I sometimes take her two days or more in a roll. I like walking both ways down our road, there’s a way that has no people down it, and a way that has a lot of houses and dogs and I like taking her that way when I want to work on ignore, and when cars go by I stop walking and put her between my legs and pet her and say it’s okay, and then when another car passes I do this but don’t pet her and see if she’ll be calm, and sometimes she is and sometimes she isn’t. However there is a lady down the way that has houses that loves harassing me and my sister! One time the lady was outside( side story, we have a neighbor whose dog always and I mean always finds a way to get off their chain and either goes to our house or runs around. Note where we leave we are on the boarder of two different states, and our house is outside our towns city limits so if there is ever a problem the county has to come out!!) anywho, so my sister is walking the dog back to his owner and this stupid lady says this:
    Stupid Lady: That dog has to be on a chain, you can’t have it off the chain. (Note my sister had the dog on one of our Leads seeing has the dog had broken off its chain!).
    Sister: I’m taking the dog back to it’s owner! You can walk your dog with a leash!!
    I wasn’t there when this happened so I’m not sure if the lady said anything or not, but this lady is so stupid!! And I honestly don’t like her, she honestly acts entitled!!
    I had two experiences with this lady, one about puppies that we had, and the second was when my full blood Siberian Husky broke his chain and we where trying to act him and this stupid lady says “Your dog is off it’s chain!” And I was already up set at the fact that it had been honestly around 2 hours or more, and we where still trying to act him! (Another side note: me and my cousin was at a house they where renting and it was getting fixed and we where trying to take up some work so the owner wouldn’t have to spend anymore money on mowers!! So since they where moving in, we mowed the loan! And then I get a call that the dog has broken it’s chain!) and I say “Thank you captain fucking obvious” and I’m pretty sure a “stupid bitch” slipped out as well! 🤷🏽‍♀️💁🏽‍♀️ I was pissed, me and my fiancé was trying to catch this track race runner of a dog, and this bitch had already came to our house once WHILE MY MOTHERS THERAPIST WAS THERE AND SHE WAIT AND SHE BEEPED HER FUCKING HORN..... Sorry still get ticked about it. But anyways.
    I shake really bad when I get nervous and when I get Mad, I always get nervous when I get really mad. So I try to relax but when people are being rude like she does every time I see her then I say what’s on my mind.

    Hello! Just wanted to say that I adore y'all! I also have cptsd and am owner training my first service dog. He's less than a year old, I got him at 3 months and started training and acclimating right away (learned a lot on youtube). We're still really early on, but he loves working for me so I'm hopeful. Anywho! I think you're pretty awesome and I hope you and your girl the best. Cptsd is its own ring of hell, I totally relate to like everything you go through. Recovery is a really difficult process but I like to believe that it's a journey out of darkness. Creating light in the world borne of true darkness. Love, light, and blessings to you and Sadie!

    Hi. I understand about anxieties that dont make sense. My daughter drove everywhere except freeways and mountain rds in ca. After we moved to nc i became disabled and very sick and she had to care for me for a while. We were finally able to get her a driving permit here and right b4 the lockdown she had 1 lesson on the freeway with her instructor who said she was amazing at it. I had an appointment at a hospital that required freeway use end of April so i wanted her to be comfortable on the freeway and it had actually been a few days so when our governor said he will start the lockdown soon if things dont improve i hired someone else to take her on the freeway. I went with them and sat in the back seat so i could see for myself how she is doing. We went on the freeway all the way to where my appointment is twice and she was amazing both times. Yet i was a nervous wreck everytime we had a chance to do it with just me and glad that tornado watches and severe wind and starm warnings and as waking up late and taking too long in stores cancelled our plans. Yes as someone who uses a rolator and cant get of the floor id rather hunker down on the floor and wait for a tornado and than call for emts to help me up which is embarrasing than just let my daughter drive on the freeway which i have watched her be awesome at, what kinda sense does that make esp since less ppl are on the road than there will be. I didnt want to be on the freeway the 1st time with just me during rush hr. Yesterday i decided to let her go for it during rush hr. As usual she did excellent and we had nothing to worry about and i was glad i did it, She was 2 driving lessons away from getting her drivers license but driving schools are not essential. Its better to let at risk adults who are also nervous wreck parents and grandparents who are not patient sit in the car with them and throw them on the freeway for their swim or sink lesson. Problem is when they sink others around them sink too,Im being totally sarcastic and to be honest most teens are great drivers. My daughter is 33 so not a teen. One of the 2 lessons was going to be a mock test. I had to retake my test when i moved here and was a wreck. I hired a driving teacher to help me with a mock test. When he was unavailable i put an add up either craigslist or facebook for someone to help me with my mock test and knowing that i did great on my mock test helped me. I didnt pass my 1st time cause my car wasnt alligned right but since i practiced with the wrong allignment i kept practicing with that now knowing how to compensate for that and i was more relaxed knowing if i fail i get 1 mmore chance but 2nd time the tester said i passed with flying colors. Maybe you can do that too,find a friend or someone to go over a mock test with you over and over til you feel confident,Someone who remembers what they ask and practice it where the test is given. We sometimes had to move out of the way when an actual test was being given but that gave me a chance to watch someone else take the test and to watch what the examiner does to better prepare me. Maybe that can help you too to watch a test, Just some suggestions. You seem like a strong woman who has this in the bag whenever she chooses to take it.

    I have obvious disabilities and with my last dog ppl still asked me who i was training her for or comenting how nice it was of me to train a dog for a disabled person and sometimes adding that saying goodbye when placing her would be heart but my reward would be in knowing that i helped a disabled person gain more indepence. Even my sister told someone our dog was temporary cause my daughter and i are training her for a disabled person. I felt like saying hello do you see the rollator im using that sometimes turns into a wheelchair cause thats what i need. I got disabled later in life but to my sister felt like saying since i started using this have you ever seen me not use it ? I use a transport rolator and ppl ask me what diabled person im training her for or the above when they see my rolator aka a form of walker but more stable and they see me using it.

      Ive been wanting to owner train but I am kind of scared because although I've done ablot of research I still believe that it's best to get a professional trainer but it costs like $7,000 and if they pick a puppy for me it's $10,000.How have you guys trained your dog and is he/she doing a good job? I really don't want to pay 10000 since we can't really afford it. Do you recommend owner training or do you not?

      @@velvet1670 I can say a year after this comment my dog is amazing. He's at college with me now and attends classes with me, goes out to eat with me, rides the bus with me, preforms three medical alerts, does response tasks, and mobility support. After a little over a year of training he could pass the PA test. That said, my mom is a professional trainer and I had a ton of dog experience prior to doing this. I also took a break from school and focused on training for a while. I would recommend that if you don't have that kind of experience you enlist an experienced trainer for help, but it doesn't have to be the 10,000 kind, you can pay a couple hundred bucks for a class every time you encounter a problem/ move on to a new topic and spread out the cost that way. Look for trainers who offer group or online classes.

      @@wren4741 hey I have a question. I’m training my dog to be a service dog, she is 11 months old now, a golden retriever. Sometimes I feel insecure because she is a bit unpredictable. Some days she is the perfect dog. Other days she is really distracted and over exited. She still needs a lot of guidance. If I take her with me it feels more like a “burden” on her bad days. Not that she actually is a burden, just young and over exited. So I have to constantly tell her what to do otherwise she will be annoying to other people. Is it normal that it still feels that way? Will she become stable and more predictable with time?
      (Btw I have a professional trainer who is helping me, but we don’t really talk about my insecurities in our training progress)

    • @wren4741
      @wren4741 4 года назад

      @@Lux421 that is 110% normal for owner training, and part of the process. I nearly washed my boy when he was an SDIT because he was an unpredictable adolescent, and it was hard. The best thing to do to build both your confidence and the dogs is to gauge what kind of day it is with barometer behaviors, a bunch of skills you ask for to start off, maybe a basic target, some doggy pushups, eye contact, and if your dog is really willing to please that day go for the training session. If they're distracted, respond to her needs and let her just be a dog for that day. The most important thing is having repetitive, good experiences while on the job so the dog builds the connection with focused feelings and behavior and work time. She will definitely calm down as she ages, typically when they're two years old their adult temperament comes out more. Besides the training aspect there's also just getting used to lugging around a complicated medically assistive device all the time. Depending on your disability, you may have had a time where you could walk around normally without needing help. I'll liken it to, your going to miss waking the first year you're in a wheelchair. But eventually it does just become normal, and automatic.

    Hi I just found your channel, sorry if this is weird! I think we used to kind of follow each other when you first started your journey. I had a dog that looked almost identical to your girl, and also lived in Alberta. I was just starting out on my journey as well. Unfortunately he developed some genetic health and behavioural issues and had to wash, but I am blessed now with a SDiT that's doing amazing despite still being quite young. I'm so glad I found your channel, I almost forgot about ya (Sorry lol!) I just am no longer active on the instagram I used to use for my washed dog. I just subscribed and am probably gonna watch some of your older videos and play catch up, and look forward to watching you two continue on your journey together. You are inspiring ! So awesome.

    I saw in your about the Canadian flag and so I'm assuming you're Canadian like me. I'm sorry if I've made the wrong assumption. I was under the impression that in Canada only first responders and veterans can get PTSD specific service dogs. Would you mind telling me a little more about how to get a PTSD service dog/animal? I'm interested in getting one/training one for myself and my needs.

    • @PostTraumaticVictory
      @PostTraumaticVictory  5 лет назад +1

      A super common misconception is that military PTSD and non-military PTSD are different - since it's literally the same disorder, "normal" people/civilians can also receive treatment and tools for this disability :) But programs do often prioritize veterans so owner-training is usually how us little people get our dogs haha - which province do you live in? I'm in Alberta and found a really helpful Facebook group called "Alberta service dog community" so I assume there are groups out there for different provinces. The government website is also helpful but kind of confusing haha

      @@PostTraumaticVictory I'm from Ontario. A little while ago I tried doing some research about PTSD service dogs and found information saying only veterans and first responders could get them. You shouldn’t have to BUY a doctors note your therapist prescribed it for you and you don’t have to take a public access test to prove your service dog is real the only (paper work) you should need is a note from the current therapist you’re actively seeing.

    • @PostTraumaticVictory
      @PostTraumaticVictory  5 лет назад +4

      That's 100% true in some places but unfortunately the law in Alberta, Canada dictates that you need to take the public access test to fully certify your team/get the government issued ID. Not all people do this, but that leaves them vulnerable to being legally asked to leave if a business owner wants to be a d*ck haha
