I'm glad that I had the opportunity to watch him play, even if it was on television. Football was different back then, players got on the pitch with much more heart. I am reliving some of my favorite moments from football's history with you, good job.
RIVALDO. One of the best. Set piece or player maker, man had a great control over ball. One of three R's for Brazil. Corinthians was the last team heard him connected to but that was ages ago. You need to watch a full game.
It's kind of a players's feeling related to the observation of the other players and of the goalkeepers. So he knows the exact moment when to curve the ball or to perform some other trick.
in the world cup of 2002 the attack of Brazil was formed by Rivaldo, Ronaldinho and Ronaldo (Phenomenon), can you imagine how it was? Brazil also had Kaka, Robinho, Roberto Carlos, Juninho from Pernambuco among others. As a consequence, Brazil won the 2002 World Cup, the attack was unstoppable, one of the best attacks Brazil has ever had.
The key for him is to look when he shoots, he doesn't ever look up. His positioning is so good that he never looks at the goal, he knows where it is, he 100% focuses on the ball.

Futebol Is so quick in the moment, you have to be so focused to the point that everything is first nature. Not second, first. You don't think while you're in action, you just strategize before you go in for the kill. Primal Instinct is and athleticism is what makes things happen.
That slow high arch (lob) is usually shot when the goalkeeper is away from the goal (not between the poles),but still can block a shot if it goes straight.
Guy was a genius, one of the greats. Need to learn and understand the significance of some of the goals. The last bicycle kick was the winning goal in the USDA Champions League final. Totally epic
what? The last goal (bicycle kick) was the goal in the 87th minute of the last game of the season in Spanish La Liga, which gave them place in next season's Champions League qualifications.
Decision making in soccer is mostly done in the moments just before you touch a ball. You can take a quick look over your shoulder, or in the direction you intend to make a play, before controlling or using your first touch. There are a lot of things you have to size up in a short period of time. But a quick peak will let you know where a goalkeeper (or any opponent) is relative to you and the goal, or the goalposts, and you adjust from there. The brain tends to handle most everything pretty quickly, especially after you practice a lot. Experience goes a long-long way.
I think you answered your question; it's by instinct. Of course there's training & practice but in the moment it all comes down to instinct. The great ones make it look easy.
I never played pro,did semi pro. Sure I'm Brazilian and start kicking a ball when was able to walk, remember when was 5 years old all i wanted in life was play. We played in grass, asphalt ,and the beach.Sometimes or many barefoot over asphalt or any type of terrain, that gave me a real good feel at the ball. Became a real good beach player, being tall skinny also with big feet help, play in the sand is all feeling since the ball once rolling over sand can and often goes not how you want ,the same goes over any pitch sure not as much. Never trained dribble or moves, only shoot the ball, and control on air.Even that was for fun,my position was on attack more on the left and sometimes at the middle. Most is pure instinct, you may think over doing this or that ,now once you have the ball all change.Have scored great goals that never was what i had in mind, felt and saw in a split of a second something and just did it. Played in France,Italy and Germany during the 80's,pick up games also small cities tournaments.Remember my first game playing for a nightclub in south of France .Was a tournament with 10 teams they had during the summer which had no idea how serious it was for them. One French friend ask if i wanted to play ball, said sure. Thought was just a game, when there saw jerseys ref the whole enchilada...Lol. Had a few cold ones before, felt a bit of rivalry between the guys when my friend explain me what was all about. Was an official size beaten sand field had a regular sneaker, terrible for that type of game, got the jersey told the captain where i was comfortable playing and game on.After 15 minutes not feeling good with my shoes, took them off.The guys came saying i was crazy,it was too hot and had many little rocks all over.Said that's cool,my feet over the years had iron skin. After I felt like was playing with kids, had a few younger guys with my age 25 that could play,Well 5 minutes after was few meters ahead of the middle circle and one opponent pass the ball for his team mate. Just like that felt the keeper was ahead of the goal ark, before the guy had the ball i run and only with hit the ball with my inside left feet and it was high on the way to the goal, went in and was beautiful, Now the thing is I kind felt the keeper was out of position, maybe saw or did for one ten of a second. After found out our captain was the manager of the best and expensive nightclub of a small city over the beach called Saint Tropez, became his friend and protege, also a player for the team.My prize was a bottle of Scotch Whisky in my name, when was over in seconds had another one, over one more and always had my JB at the shelf.Save lots of money, not save since i could not afford an US 550 for one. Yes we were the champions in the end,we won also the next two years,my friend was also a good player and we had two or three that could also play well. Also in a league in L A for few years, anyway besides the free kicks and a few plays they train, they are pros and have rehearsed over and over tactically movements ,when it comes to scoring like that is all about feeling, instinct and most natural ability
Thanks many thanks , i was waiting for your reaction about him since 3 months lol. I miss him in the pitch , i told you he was very special. Many kiss to you from France. Now i can advice you react to Beckham and Jean Pierre Papin , they 'll give you a lovely smile i swear .
usually from far away kicks, the ball will make a curve doesn't matter what, but the curve can be decided by which side of the foot the player use to kick, kicks with the inside part of the foot is more likely to be less powerful but more precise, meanwhile using the outside of the foot tend to be very hard kicks. I recall playing when I was kid and the fact of using inside or outside part of the feet to make a curve would depend where the goalkeeper is standing and how far from the goal. also it is worth to recall that the most powerful kickers around like Roberto Carlos or Rivelino, they both were left foot and they were famous by their strong kick using the outside(trivela in portgueses)
i aplaude you for doing a rivaldo vid, because a saw rivaldo when i was a kid i became a football fan! i can obly give you 1 like but i wish i could give you 10000000000!

I’d say these guys are loaded with skills, and just unleash them as the opportunity reveals itself. So if the goalie is a bit out of his line, he lobs the ball over him. A bit to the right, bury the ball to the left and so on.. it’s the split second decision and speed that sets them apart
To answer your questions for how they know which technique of shot to use: its a combination of instinct and experience. You do what feels right. But also different situations allow or require different types of shots. The arch(you should call it curve or swerve lol) that you mentioned is best used to get the ball around players or to keep it out of reach as possible from the keeper at certain angles. And trust me you can do it if someone shows you how to do it!! :) :)
You are only missing Adriano from this golden generation from Brazil. Adriano was a mix of Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho. It was just too bad that his career went down hill when he lost his father. I just love how you are so accurate with your comments about these football players. I was impressed

The trick behind how they know when to make the right shot or dribble or pass is the eyes. You do not notice but he is actually taking a lot of information before doing what he is doing. For example he has already seen that the goalkeeper is a bit advanced and then chip the ball over the goal.

@allure vision its muscle memory and instinct from 10+ years experience yes. You are thinking and making split second decisions it is thinking but a different way faster paced, focused on taking ball path of least resistance to the goal.
For note.... he was in the same Brazil team as R10, R9 and Roberto Carlos. Robinho, Cafu, etc.. His and Carlos left foot had GPS. Could find the goal from anywhere.
The good players usually know where the goal is at. And usually take a quick look to see where the keeper is at. If he’s off his lin should can try to chip it over them or placing it into a corner.
You realy need to see Adriano Imperatore, the most talented striker he was a beast that have never reach full potential, and also one of the best italian player ever Francesko Totti he was a full package, scorring, assisting, and story behind him is phenomenal, he is a rare example, the guy was playing 24 yeras for one club and have rejected many clubs that was richer. Check this two players you wont regret.
Jay Gilfillan I remember him.the maradona of the carpathians...he embarrassed the Colombian team who were the favorites to win world cup 94. And later he made the Argentines cry...fantastic player
They call Chip shot, we use it when the goalkeeper is more forward from the goal that will create space behind the goalkeeper to get it over him. and yes Instant and reflexes.
Watching you appreciate Brazilian football brings a smile to my face. You're a beautiful lady & yes Rivaldo just one of the many Brazilian stars who play Joga Bonito ... Which is the Beautiful game. Brazil 5 time world cup champions are Champions of Romantic Football
7:32 I think it comes from the instinctive part of the game where the player just has to quickly decide whether risk it or play it safe. Doing a overhead kick is risky in general so you do have to practise to fully get the hang of it, that would include nearly breaking your neck but it's all good 😂
... I liked your reaction to the player Rivaldo and I don't know if you saw that he is left-handed ... and this is highly valued in football because the precision for kicking the ball is great.
Players arch mostly when the goalkeeper is off his line... we call it a "chip". They also curve or bend shots when aiming for a far angle and the goalkeeper is positioned well.
The arch kick is actually a chip. It's like carrying the ball over instead of power. Giving more heght to overcome the keeper. Usually these chips are unexpected as the keeper always readies for power shot. As a striker, it comes with instinct to know when the keeper is way out of his line. Most chips are considered cheeky due to their unexpected nature
7:31 to answer that, each player is diferent. There are unique players like Hugo Sanchez who practiced bicycle kicks a lot, he scored around 20 bicycles kicks.
Brazil was LETHAL. Dida, Lucio, Cafú, Roberto Carlos, Edu, Kaká, Ronaldo (Fenómeno), Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Adriano... All of them were in the same field.
To your question... How do you know? For talented players, it is just instinct and reading of positions. Of course, you can be taught but then you must realize also that "talents" get "skilled" (constant training). Most of these players envision themselves during training in different situations. And you will also need to be familiar with your leg positions to "spin" the ball, what angle to hit the ball, which side of your foot/feet to use and what angle to hit the ball. And this also explains the curves, the arch, etc... Recall the J.J. OKOCHA free-kicks!? It was in fact, such ability and training that made DAVID BECKHAM earn himself the title as best free-kick guy, which ended in a movie - BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM.
Notice from 13:30 on... young RONALDINHO (that you have seen) dribbles and makes a pass to him. That is the JOY in the GAME of FOOTBALL... legends meet other legends when they bowing out!! WE LOVE FOOTBALL!!!
You'll probably not get this requested, as his star didn't shine too long (he still had a good career, but his time in the Premier league was short), Tony Yeboah, some of his goals were destruction.
Rivaldo's left foot was a sniper gun.

If you want to see someone with great shots from distance with real power, **Georghe Hagi** is the GOAT.
Jay Gilfillan
I remember him.the maradona of the carpathians...he embarrassed the Colombian team who were the favorites to win world cup 94.
And later he made the Argentines cry...fantastic player
They call Chip shot, we use it when the goalkeeper is more forward from the goal that will create space behind the goalkeeper to get it over him. and yes Instant and reflexes.
Rivaldo monstro dos monstros
You should do a video on water polo. Highlights are fun to watch and much like rugby its a very underappreciated sport.
JA ESTA NA HORA DA LEGENDA EM PORTUGUÊS
It comes with experience and a lot of training... Plus you must have a talent for skills to pull that chip shot or bicycle kick
Watching you appreciate Brazilian football brings a smile to my face. You're a beautiful lady & yes Rivaldo just one of the many Brazilian stars who play Joga Bonito ... Which is the Beautiful game. Brazil 5 time world cup champions are Champions of Romantic Football
Watching football has been beautiful
It’s confidence
7:32 I think it comes from the instinctive part of the game where the player just has to quickly decide whether risk it or play it safe. Doing a overhead kick is risky in general so you do have to practise to fully get the hang of it, that would include nearly breaking your neck but it's all good 😂
... I liked your reaction to the player Rivaldo and I don't know if you saw that he is left-handed ... and this is highly valued in football because the precision for kicking the ball is great.
My guy rivaldo
Rivaldo has the best chest control.
Players arch mostly when the goalkeeper is off his line... we call it a "chip".
They also curve or bend shots when aiming for a far angle and the goalkeeper is positioned well.
You should react to Robinho. The king of step-overs.
Rivaldo best eva
The arch kick is actually a chip. It's like carrying the ball over instead of power. Giving more heght to overcome the keeper. Usually these chips are unexpected as the keeper always readies for power shot. As a striker, it comes with instinct to know when the keeper is way out of his line. Most chips are considered cheeky due to their unexpected nature
great strategic move
You arc when the keeper is off the line. Striker instinct
thanks for your answer, i appreciate it
That brasil was simply, every south American national team suffered 😭😭😭
Shes watched so many highlights I dont even think she clueless anymore
One more subscriber I love your videos
7:31 to answer that, each player is diferent. There are unique players like Hugo Sanchez who practiced bicycle kicks a lot, he scored around 20 bicycles kicks.
Late noti squad we in there
@@TiagoFerreira-kp7kj ,
Rivaldo = 97
Zidane = 95
O Zidane teve todo aquele ecossistema galáctico mas o Rivaldo vs Schmeichel I guess the best golie in history....
