Working storyboard artist here. I appreciate what AI is trying to do here, but the product is a problem for those of us trying to do new, inventive and creative work in the field. Game developers, commercial producers, any aspiring filmmaker will use this tool to develop generic, been-done-before imagery, and leave out the step of hiring an actual creative mind. What are you going to do about those with a vision for something new, who cannot now find the work?
This has NOTHING to do with great storyboarding that's done by human artists. It's a way for people who can't draw to sketch out their thoughts - AND a pre-viz strategy for working artists & teams. There will always be a market for storyboarding artists. In particular - these artists might become expert at prompting AI to create a first draft for pre-viz, which they can then amplify & extend for the final version. Good luck! I hope these changes in our tech landscape end up making your extraordinary skills even more valuable.
@@GameThinkingTV oh, I get it, believe me. I teach at a university, and I have dozens of art students and art faculty around me who are scared and angry about the unavoidable tidal wave of AI wave about to disrupt literally everything they’re trying to accomplish. And here on youtube we are assured blandly that everything will be just fine. We feel we know better.
Same goes with language students and professions. A lot of clients tried to push the price down saying that they could do it w/ AI translation and all. What happens to craftmanship and all. No more creativity I say. AI can do an excellent job, very technical, yet it also very dull. My job could go extinct at any point in time now huhu. We need to adapt, FAST!

There's simply only one solution: learn how to draw, it's still an art to visualize in a proper consistent way! This is not drawing, it's scrambling words hoping to get something useful out of it!
Thanks for your note. This isn't about replacing drawing - it's about helping people who don't have that skill create sketches to test their product ideas.
I am new to image creator & while this doesn’t have to do with story boarding, but mind me asking you a question? I once asked image creator to create a comic strip with my character Tommy the Mischiefmaker in it, just to see if it would create anything at all? I was surprised by the results, because what it gave me oddly enough was a comic strip, but it looked as if Tommy was creating the comic strip himself. Where did I go wrong? Would you please give me some tips as to where I could do better in the near future, to get a story with an actual comic strip?
Not sure how to fix the problem, I'd suggest just continuing to play around with the tool and adding specific phrases that clarify what you're trying to do.
I am looking for ai generate storyboard from my story direct> That I mean, I put the script of all story and ai will start generate the storyboard... any help!
Today? Probably not. But Sora is coming down the pipe and they are literally having meetings this week with Hollywood. Storyboards are the least of the problem. And in the hands of a pro AI will only speed them up 100 fold. Sorry.

You would have so much more control if you learned how to draw. Yes, it takes more time than writing a prompt, but you definitely don't have to be skilled. Storyboards require vision not artistry to inspire its audience, they were never meant to be pretty and by skipping the process of drawing these storyboards and going straight to the final product you are missing out on refining your eye i.e your ability to composite shots and subject matter in an interesting way (instead of the most straightforward and boring way as ai will always do). Because you are essentially letting the ai decide for you what you want your story to look like depending on ai will deteriorate your imagination overtime
@@GameThinkingTV And if this tool is for nonartists do you think there is anything to be lost with regards to the collaborative process that exists with human artists and their clients? A storyboard artist (or a team of them) will go through trial and error to capture the vision of their client. Sometimes the client is not entirely sure what they want but the artist can offer an entirely unique perspective by just existing as an individual with which the client can converse and develop their vision with. Do you think this process can be replicated with a person alone with their computer?
This doesn't really work to get consistent images in each scene. It would have been easier and quicker to have made rough hand sketches. Even follow-up prompts do not make the process any better.
Yeah, that's a real problem right now - but the tech is changing fast & we're already seeing better results with updated prompts. If you can sketch - you're good. But for folks who can't sketch, this is truly an (imperfect) game-changer
Anyone who is using AI to storyboard isn’t taking storyboarding seriously. Actors, props, location, staging, budget, and overall cinematography won’t be present in a specific way.
Good point. This approach is directed at product designers - not movie creators - who want to visualize & test their end-to-end product or game ideas. For that purpose, these kinds of limited-use storyboards work great. Thanks for helping us clarify.
Are you making the movie? Some folks use stick figures. Some can use AI for general idea. Sorry. Folks will use this ore and more and probably elevating their process combined with stick figures they do.
@@ArtificialImaginationStu-xz8jmI get it. That said, I guarantee that someone could learn how to draw competently enough to draw storyboards within 30 days.
Good point - the tech is heading in this direction for sure... OpenAI's latest update lets you define a consistent character from the command line (but not via the API yet...)
Bing literally blocked it because I said "Full body". It blocked as well for using "chubby". This app is gonna be a big pain in the ass I mind as well google the image on a search of what i want and just use the image.
Given the intended use, this style works quite well in practice for testing concepts end-to-end & getting early feedback. I understand that this doesn't work for animation -- totally agree, that use case needs more continuity.
