I think Greg and Terry's marriage falling apart could’ve worked if it was more about the unhealthy levels of perfectionism some couples especially middle-class gay couples place upon themselves. Maybe Greg's paranoid about being seen as the best, and wanting everyone to like his family because in his mind if people don't like him, they'll at least respect all the work his family puts into looking like the best. Maybe Greg doesn't want to just be seen as the neighborhood gay family, but as the perfect American family.

One of the best narcissistic lines in any TV show is when Stan finds out about his neighbor’s intentions to have a kid and says “I let Greg and Terry be gay, and this is how they repay me!” 😄

Counterpoint, remember how they taught their daughter how to speak fluent french.
What if... They were planning to move to Paris, Roger learned they were going to live in a fancy house and decided to get in on that but if a bigger way.
He took on the persona of Greg and Terry respectively, as "Terry" he had a massive fight with Greg revealed various things true and false after they already packed and the real terry was waiting at the airport. This fight results in them breaking up, *Real Terry never learns this*.
Then after roger did this fight, he would change into his "Greg" persona and go with real terry to live in paris to enjoy the new place and everything.
Where Terry and the daughter now live, with Roger popping in every time he can to enjoy the hot tub and stuff.
This WOULD fit roger's personality after all.

We don’t actually know why she got a C-section, it could be for a number of reasons that don’t mean anything bad for the baby. And tearing from V to A obviously sucks, but it’s a common enough occurrence that I don’t think it’s something she’d even think of in that moment. One thing I've noticed with a lot of Seth's shows is when he steps away from them to pursue other projects or stops being as heavily influential in the writers room, the shows get a lot meaner and shallower and characters get more and more flanderized
Best example is early family guy where you can tell Seth had a message he wanted to put out and specific dynamics for the characters, but when he stepped away from writing things went downhill
I feel like adult show writers tend to think that "crass and nasty" with no real point, and with miserable abusive family dynamics, is somehow peak comedy even if it goes entirely against what has been established for the character

    • @Starburst514
      @Starburst514 Год назад +51

I've noticed that too, especially with interviews of Seth (I haven't seen any recent ones in like, the last six years mind) he seems like a genuine writer who knows how to put heart into a story despite the crass and cude humor. He can add humanity to the stories and characters, but I think it's also clear he got tired of FG and AD a long time ago, every project he has feels like a Passion one, and when that passion runs out he doesn't close it down (and put people out of work I guess) just steps away, and like you said you can really tell.
The 2009 family guy murder mystery episode I remember felt so different and was so good, and it was at the end I saw Seth dedicated that to him mom and had written it and I went "oh that's why it was better than it had been in a long time"

Yeah but this time it isn’t Seth leaving that made the difference as he wasn’t heavily involved in the writing since the first couple seasons to focus more on Family Guy. It’s Mike Barker leaving (and the move to TBS where they tried to force some "more edge" to the tone). Seriously the you can tell pretty quickly the seasons he’s stopped working. That dude was the main creative powerhouse behind American Dad’s best seasons.

Why couldn't they have Brian possibly find out the founder of Atheism in their universe is a cat and decides to cut ties with it.
Cause THAT could work, then have him follow a new religion possibly even made up for the show.
Like the great kibble, a dog bathed in a glow bringing fields of grass and rains of gravy.

So to point out a small thing about Francine talking about pregnancy. She's not lying because she's saying her pregnancies were a breeze. The times she complains about are the birthing processes. Yes, that is a part of pregnancy but that's more of the ending of it, and can be more likely symptoms of Post Pardom Depression than anything else. These are also two very different things she could be saying that she had all the upsides of pregnancy, unlike someone like Lois. I also wouldn't be surprised if Stan was a little more loving towards Francine while she was pregnant, so she has actual good memories about having kids.

17:16 The movie Erin Brockovich is a biopic from the early 2000's based on the environmental activist by the same name starring Julia Roberts as the titular character. Erin was a beauty queen early in her life and because of her appearance and outfits when re-entering the workforce (featuring lots of cleavage) people often assumed she was not especially smart, clever, caring, or reliable. She was heavily involved with helping the residents of Hinkley California sue Pacific Gas & Electric for knowingly contaminating their drinking water with toxic chemicals that led to all different kinds of cancer and degenerative diseases.
So that's why Greg was saying show your breasts for clean drinking water, he thinks that the surrogate will somehow influence the developing fetus to be slutty by watching their favorite movie while pregnant.

@@georgeprchal3924100% agree, its not right to out someone, but its also not right to build a giant lie and throw it onto those around you just to save your own skin. Also Stan being blackout drunk doesn't justify it, it just makes the entire situation alot more messy. Also that's horrendously cruel to your spouse as well, lying about them and kicking them out of the house instead of standing by them isn't part of a good relationship at all, regardless of how human we all are.

My cousin got outed before he was ready and unfortunately my uncle and aunt are those sort of Christian parents that tried gay conversion therapy on him and were apparentlyabusive to him for having a boyfriend. He ran away from home when he turned 18 and asked my dad for a loan to leave the country to get away from his parents. To this day he doesn't speak to them and only contacts my dad (his uncle) to let us know how he is, but he has told us never to tell his parents where he is and to keep when he visits us a secret.

I love Langley's News Team Greg and Terry with my favorite episodes being the as mentioned Surro-Gate and Home Wrecker where they proved a Gay so-called civil partnership (but fuck it I'll say Marriage as they won the cert in that bet) can be stronger than a straight marriage. But I agree Terry trying to kill Michael ruined the relationship and it's a shame we might never get another Greg Terry story as I feel Greg is lost without him. Heck a guest voice appearance by Barker to give closure would be nicer than this piss poor wrap up
