We nearly purchased the Darango D250RED as our choice of 5th wheel to pull with our 3/4 ton truck and still consider it an excellent alternate to the Flagstaff 528RKS that we altimately settled on. No regrets on our purchase but you will likely enjoy the benefit of a slightly more compact, lighter rig, which lends itself to superior manuverability and fuel economy. I would say, you've made a commendable selection.👍
First of all, THANK YOU for your service to our country sir! Second, I love, love this fifth wheel. It has everything one needs, and then some! Thank you so much for sharing!
Was just on Facebook and say your posting on your new RV! It looks fantastic! Really like the floorplan layout, and looks like a great model for using at State and National Parks as well. Congratulations on the new purchase; can't wait to see your future episodes where you go! All the Best! ~Lou
Now that is a setup I would love to have. As a truck driver, I would prefer a 5th wheel over my travel trailer. It would just make it a little easier when I'm trying to back it in some place. The main reason we didn't get a 5th wheel is because my wife had a failed back surgery and steps are difficult for her. That and my knees are starting to get bad. So we just went with a 2021 Forest River Wildwood 22RBS. For a smaller camper, it has an amazing amount of space and storage. Anyways, absolutely beautiful 5th wheel!! Happy Trails!!
How nice. I know Melody you are going to love all that storage. This will be wonderful for you all. Can't wait to see how you like it camping. Enjoy all these videos. Thank you for showing your new rig.
I have to say, Ur right. It has LOTS of storage. I also like the fact there is no carpet. Even the bathroom seems to have enough storage. The only thing I can see, is the TV is a little far away. Not sure what the biggest size can be placed there! Hope you two enjoy.
We are blessed to have one of only 2 KZ dealers in New York State right here in our local area, moreover they are a great dealership. Eventually I am going to buy a couples 5th wheel knowing that KZ makes this it will be high on the list.
Wow !!! That is a very nice 5 th Wheel!! I really like the layout! Everything is well situated and easy access!!! Melody, you looked so happy with it! It was even so new to you, I noticed you hadnt even taken the plasic protective covering off the table? lol. I love the nice brightness of the color's! I just love it!! I see a few places you can put Milo's bed at. What did he think of it when he went inside?! It really seems like there is alot more space, and its so much more, "open". Great choice guys! Looking forward to seeing your new adventures in your new KZ Durango !!! vicky
As you walked in the door, my first thought was "They just got it and already installed the screen protector". 🤣 First I've seen to come with it. We were ecstatic to have 2 doors on our 32' bunkhouse until we realized it meant paying twice for every door and stair related item. LOL
WooooooHoooooo!!!!! That is awsome!! Looks fantastic! Cant wait for the tour!!! lol, did Milo give it the "paw up ?" Cool ! When will the first "lift off" happen? um, Im now wondering........new truck too ???! lol vicky 😄
What make of truck do you tow this with? I have a 2021 F150 4 x 4, 6 turbo, with the upgraded 14K towing capacity. Presently I tow an Airstream 25 but we need more room as full time travelers. Thanks for the video!
The payload is 3200. After watching a few more video in addition to yours, we have determined to stay under 8000 on towing and 1500 on 5th wheel hitch (if we go that route). Presently our trailer is 550 on bumper hitch and I am trying to stay not much above that. It limits our choices but there are many out there!
Nice trailer.........there is something I'd address right away.....I don't see anything protecting the positive connections on the battery. That's surprising that the manufacturer left that out. Hope you enjoy your new trailer We like to have a bit more space, and since we have a 3/4 ton anyway, we opted for a 5th wheel that's a bit larger...plus we plan on spending a lot of time in it. Enjoy your times away with this unit :)
Awesome! You'll love all those new features & and you'd especially love the app! Best thing ever when you're coming in after dark & you can flip the lights on! Congratulations ❤Congratulations ❤ Scott & I watched it together on the Big Screen! Ps. My little Tiny is a KZ Classic!
I am so excited for you guys! It is beautiful. Can't believe you did sight unseen that is amazing. We have the same fireplace. We love it. That colors are favorite too. Melody, you'll have to show us the inside again once you have everything in place and it's homie cuz it will be a whole new RV at that point. I love how it feels like you're being swept off your feet. The color is beautiful. I love it and I love your lilac bush outside. Lou, it is a good looking RV. Will you be getting snap pads? It is a nice light weight camper. Lots of stories will happen with this RV. Will you be adding your guys's logo to the RV? Did you end up selling your old rig or are you keeping that as well? If this is already been told? I'm sorry if I missed it. Congrats we are so happy for you. We will be looking for you all in the East.
Not a big fan of snap pads; no logo as we like to travel incognito; discussed trade in the video. Looking forward to meeting when our paths cross Barb. Lou
Congrats on the new rig. Love the solar....wait what!!! That looks like a transfer switch mounted to the roof of that pass thru coupled with a Xantrex Inverter, forgive me but it would appear that you have the ability to go full coach A/C off your battery bank via that Xantrex inverter, am I correct? Well there you have it, you just answered my question. Very nice, have to say I am a bit jealous of that set up. I have considered putting in a transfer switch in our rig, but with our fuse/breaker box in the rear of our rig I would have to drop the entire belly to run the lines. I just haven't got up the ambition to do that...yet. Well looks like you two picked a great rig, someday our paths will cross and you can give us a personal tour. Safe travels you two!! Sean & Angie.
I should have said after watching your entire video I have a couple questions. I live in San Diego and looking at the same trailer. Just looking for ball park numbers but I guess I will have to do the home work myself. The specs. you shared were to small to read. Oh well I will see what I can find on my own. Thank you
No -- the tires that come with this fifth wheel were not Goodyear brand tires. The tires provided from the factory were HiSpec, ST235/80R16, Load Range E tires. Before I go on a cross country RV trip, I'll be upgrading the tires to Carlisle Load Range G tires. I've always purchased these load range G tires for our RVs because these tires are often used to haul bull-dozers. Lou
Our Grand Design Solitude 310GK has been labeled “ total loss” by our insurance because of a bent and cracked frame. So we are looking for a new RV. This one is high on the list. Any issues boondocking?
No issues other than having to manually adjust the solar charge controller. This RV came with a factory installed solar system. Be sure to watch our "Field Test" video for this RV. Lou
Great layout. The “Half Ton” moniker is a misnomer based on specifications. Really nice features, but spare tire located under the belly mid-frame is a no-go. Definitely would have to relocate to a bracket on the rear hitch since there’s no bumper on this model.
I Love this!!!One question..Can you option a 12 volt fridge? May I get a ballpark figure on cost. I have to consider that unfortunately. Not sure I can find one I Love like this one...PERFECT. 😊❤
I like the layout. I like everything about it except for the two chairs. I prefer a couch and there doesn’t seem to be enough room for six for a couch. But you can’t have everything and I love all your storage
Hi Thank you for this video. I'ld like to know what's the payload on your truck. There is a pine weight of 1600 lbs. Usually 1500 trucks have around 1800 or less of payload. Thank you
@@LivingOurDreamNow Looking at your video it made me think you did. The pine weight is the weight you RV bring to your truck, your RV weights 1600lbs according to technical reports. This means that your truck will be carrying 1600 lbs meaning the force your RV pulls the truck to the ground. To that you have to add your personal weight and your stock (dishes, clothes etc...) Your payload can be found from a calculation but it is written on a yellow sticker in the driver's door.

Can I ask what you tow it with? If I missed that part of the video I apologize. Did you weigh your actual pin weight? I love this rig but I'm trying to figure out if I can tow it with an F-150 with HDPP package. My payload rating is 2,400 lb. Absolutely love this rig
I tow our KZ Durango Half-Ton Fifth Wheel with my 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel. There is a big difference between pulling with a 3/4 ton versus half-ton pickup. For safety, towing this rig with a 3/4 ton truck would be the better option irrespective of the actual loaded/equipped trailer weight. Lou
The dry hitch weight is listed as 1640 lbs and you probably will add ~2/3 of the CCC to the front of the trailer as the storage is in front of the axles so just the trailer will be above your payload capacity and that's before you add the the weight of the hitch (~150lbs), your family, and anything else you put in the truck.
No - The capacities reflected in the KZ printout are correct. If boondocking for an extended period, I pump more fresh water into the fresh water tank. Plenty of gray water capacity.
Now that depends your tow vehicle. Every 1/2 truck has different capabilities. Personally, I would not pull this fifth wheel with any 1/2 ton truck. Just compare the size of the differential and braking system. There is a substantial difference between a 1/2 ton and 3/4 truck. Safety first! Lou
So true. Really no 5th wheel should be behind a half-ton. This is no way half-ton towable. 29’ with 2 slide-outs and 9000 lbs loaded x 20% = pin weight of 1800lbs before you add passengers (350) hitch (200) + other junk in truck ((100 lbs) = 2450 cargo weight. Listed below are the Max cargo capacities and [75% of max cargo capacity, aka safe towing recommendation] of each 1/2 ton truck. The only truck that currently comes close is the Ford. Still too close to call. These weights are sitting still, not bouncing down the road which increases pin weight exponentially, known as Newton’s Law of Physics. Manufacturers give weights of a trailer sitting in a parking lot, not moving. So an 1800# pin weight can easily reach 2000-3000#’s bouncing on the hitch. A lot more to towing than a sticker on a door jamb. Always, always have more truck than you need. Ram 2335[1750], ‘23 Titan 1700[1275], XD 2400 [1800] ‘23 Tundra 1740[1305] Silverado 2290[1700], F-150 3325 [2490]
They use the term "Half Ton" because there are ½ ton pickup trucks that can safely tow them. It's up to the individual to know the limits of their truck; and NOT exceed them. The RV dealership should also be double-checking the limits of every truck that they allow to be hooked up on their property; and they shouldn't even allow a truck that's out of spec to hook up.
She is Amazing !
I have a 2020 Chevy 1500 with a Duramax Deisel Z71. Would this 5th wheel be a good size for it?
it's a nice rig and i'm glad 5th wheel half ton campers are even made. i would not want to go underneath to get the spare tire tho
I’m glad the spare tire location does not reduce cargo space. In my 19 years of RVing, I’ve never had to use the spare. Lou
You will find that changing the shower head will really make a difference. You don’t turn off the running shower with an instant on, set and use

Good llayout; i cant see anyone using that cubbyhole to operate a washer or dryer.
If the tire goes flat is there enough room to crawl under to get to the spare?
Lots of ground clearance on this RV. Great for boondocking.
How's it pull??do you have 3/4 or 1 ton?thanks

No issue with the steps. Much more solid than the old pull-out steps.

No - The capacities reflected in the KZ printout are correct. If boondocking for an extended period, I pump more fresh water into the fresh water tank. Plenty of gray water capacity.

It sure does! The recliners are plugged into a 110v wall outlet and all the outlets are powered by the off-grid inverter. Lou

We agree, we stay away from. Rigs that say that. It’s not true. We’ve towed them. SAFTEY, none existent if you do.
Cute little starter rig for 1-2 folks. Very nice. Enjoy and God bless. Thank you for your service Brother in Arms. God bless America
Agree 100%!
Are you pulling it with a 1/2 ton truck?
