Thank you for posting this! Some DDR music videos do a disservice to the designer: because incredibly sorted examples *(like yours) exist. Haters should see these build videos, and reserve judgement until they see them running Sandhills, the Silver State, Lime Rock, Willow Springs, Sebring etc..... Production exotics have a slightly longer wheelbase, are a bit wider, well lower/flatter, but the exorbitant costs of their insane, space saving designs are passed on to the buyers. The DDR's meet somewhere near the middle between less costly 2+2 production designs like the Porsche 968 or Nissan 370Z's that can be upgraded to full supercars w/ big turbos or (as in the case of the 968's), LSx swaps. The performance of your car may ultimately fall a bit below an SLC, or Euro LMP inspired kit, but i'm a future customer--because the design is so awesome. Just an idea, why don't you make the duct on the roof functional? It shouldn't be hard to use it as an actual air intake... I think it's too small for an intercooler tho. The reason I'm saying this is, I think non-functional ducts on a car make it seem tacky as hell...
XCFBowling I agree. The roof scoop is functional. It will actually feed air into the cabin when the vent is open but also ducts air into the engine compartment to help with cooling by pushing the air flow out of the rear of the car from the engine bay. The side vents when cut will cool the intercooler and feed the air intake. I'll duct both of them as well.
i wish the creator of this kitcar had done it 4 inches longer and 2 inches wider.what the most of them lacks is the stearing column and your sitting posittioning..look at mclaren f1,,you have place for 3 persons,,here you have 2 and yet its crampy
The Mclaren F1 has two narrow seats on the side which are moulded. If you put the drivers seat in the middle and did two moulded seats you probably fit 3 seats. Its not actually cramped inside, because my feet is a fixed seat, if you arent 5ft 11 or above you probably wouldnt be able to drive it due to the seat position to the pedals.
Hello there You could help me. I will make replica lamborghini, but unfortunately I do not know how to take out the car skeleton. My friends recommend you to me.Could you give me the skeleton plan of any car of lamborghin
They say they do, however unless you live in the USA it's probably not a good idea as every countries requirements to get on the road are different. UK was very strict compared to the USA. Where abouts are you from?
killerferret666 im from saudi arabia and registering the car won't be a problem but I was just asking about the price and I read online that its 45.000 us dollars. Again thank you for your time and have a good one
Alex Orailey Yea you wont have too much issue then, just get it built in the US, registered over there then imported. Or you could just order the kit and build your own if you have the time and make it look how you want.
Wow, DDR actually sold a kit to someone? I was following them almost 9-10 years ago, and after years of running a website they never actually delivered a car. Its funny because all along they kept posting pictures of, what looked like, different cars. but they were just repainting the same one. Who knows, maybe they were waiting 10 years to sell one so they could wait for the design of the Mclaren F1 to become public domain, so they could rip it off.
Grant Russell I know of at least 4 (i know of more but unverified) 1 just completed in canada i.imgur.com/2DWwrk8h.jpg , 1 in New zealand and 2nd one in the UK which is coming on well. I have spoken to those owners myself. As for the same car I went to miami to see them and the green and Orange car were sat in their garages I have some pictures if you want to see. I do believe the silver one is the green car originally though. As for the design; I see it, however people who have seen it in person say the front looks Zonda like (weird) or at the moment I have no badges so say its a not very accurate mclaren replica....so least its different enough not to be thought of as a replica which was my aim. I do agree DDR need to improve their business service though
The Ferret Its a beautiful kit car, I'm sure it will be popular. You sir, have alot of guts becoming an early adopter with them. But you're right, I think they need some more business sense. You can't convince many people to fork over $16k to a company with few credentials. This is the day and age when small businesses need to engage with the public via social media. So far, all I've seen from DDR is a stale set of pictures, and they occasionally hijack their Wikipedia article and write it to sound like a brochure. It would serve them well to introduce themselves to the public a little more, and talk about the car a bit. The little I know about Diego Grullon is that he is vain enough to name a model of the car after himself (Grullon GT) with very noble looking Grullon coat of arm decals, but doesn't care enough to introduce himself. Another thing I know is that his taste in car accessories is terrible. The little I know about the DDR GT4 is that it is built well enough to drive slowly on Miami street, with loud dance music playing in the background. But I don't know anything about how it was engineered (or that any engineering actually took place). Another observation I have about the company, is that they appear to be trying to change too quickly. The first iteration of the DDR GT4 looked great, it was very traditional looking (as traditional as supercars go). Then they posted a bunch of pictures of weird special editions, with a bunch of shitty looking accessories. It looked like "look at me, I'm back from the parts store, look at all this shit I bolted on". I don't mean to sound elitist, but they have very poor taste in wheels, seats, and other accessories. It looks like they pulled all their parts straight from my Civic I had when I was 17. This poor taste in parts is really going to alienate themselves from the demographic of gear-heads that will actually be able to undertake a project like this.
Grant Russell I think I was told I was mental when I wanted to be one of the first but that's part of the challenge for me. It is the social media part and getting the right people talking and doing stories on the car however as more cars 'get out' there as such it will probably do that for them if the owners are the social meet types. Nothing wrong with calling a model after the owner, that I don't see a problem with its their passion from the start. I'm not a fan of a lot of carbon here, there and everywhere hence in my build at least i've tried to tone that down and make the car look a lot more like it flows (if that makes sense). As for the driving it is very stiff, it doesn't help that you have to replace all the old rubber bushes with polybushes when rubber ones would be quite nice (cant simply get rubber unless you buy new parts of suspension $$$$/££££) I've just changed the coilovers to a different set with a softer damper and spring setup as I know they give a smoother ride and it has worked even on our rubbish UK roads so you definitely need to find what's right for your area. I haven't built a stereo into mine, no loud music here although ive got to redo the interior, I hope to a do a video soon of the car moving and reviewing it as the latest one was just a walk around after the spray shop, I'm not sure how much ill be able to push it in anger on UK roads though. I'm actually glad it changed iteration a bit (orange one) it was too Mclaren F1 like and needed to get its own identity to some level. however the people taking on these kitcars will look past the choices that the company itself has made especially in individual styling as more show up from customers so they can see what can be done. I'm obviously a more glass half full on this because this is what I did and happy with what i've built.
Peter Barosso it came with a DOT marked one but I needed an E marked, so I had a windscreen mould made so I can produce more if I get a stone chip or something like that.
It is a good shape and curve, good sporty look. for whatever reason it's not quite identical both sides. Hard to tell with the naked eye though. The windscreens can obviously be bought now that a mould exists, so yes can be made.

Blender Dav to be road legal, 99% have to have parts taken off or adjusted to pass the IVA test, which is a 300page document and about an 8hr test. Any that have these parts are because they are put back on after the test, as once tested that's it and just normal MOT. Then there's driveability, changing suspension is often required or the ride is too hard / poor for the road. As you can tell I watched someone go through this pain putting a track radical on to the road, he put a lot of bits back on after the test like the splitter etc...

So as a whole, was the kit straight toward to build, with minimal major prototype or customization required to put it together? Just curious.
B.
It is really just a chassis and shell with some minor other parts. But that said most fixings I wanted I could just buy from a hardware store.
Lol do I have to use a Chevy small block if I get the gt8 or is that just recommended.
You can put in any engine that will fit really you may just need to weld new engine gearbox mounts. What engine are you thinking of?
killerferret666 either a 98 supra engine or a BMW E38
Had a TT supra before and agree would be amazing with one of them in there
is this the same company that makes the SLC Superlite coupe?
