    Tie-dye Dude, you are the freaking man. My husband is out of town for a month and Pep Boys was trying to change me $114 for parts and labor to change my headlights. Thank you so much. You are a great teacher and made it so do-able that I feel like a capable adult. I thought I was going to have to take the battery out on the left side!!! YOU ARE AMAZING!!!❤

      @feralstreak9204 Nice to see you found my video and were able to follow along and change your headlights on your own. I'm glad you saved yourself some money for that labor charge. Nice to see, you weren't afraid to work on your own car. Good Job!

    I know this video is old, but THANK YOU! You made it so easy for me to change my own headlights. I’m so proud of myself and I only broke one clip-the one holding the part for the washer fluid! (Had to happen. It’s so cold out and I’m lucky the headlights lasted 7 years as it is!) Now I can just go buy a pack of those and I’m done!

      Good Job @cherylr1850 yeah most plastic parts are brittle when temps start dropping. If it's really cold out and I have to remove plastic clips I warm them up a little with a heat gun... (or a blow dryer)

    I had a Acura RDX last year and when I watched various videos on replacing the headlight, they all showed taking the car basically apart to get to the bulb... and that seemed about right when I attempted it but gave up - SO, I’m thrilled to see that it seems to be much easier with the Crosstrek which I purchased 6 months ago and now have a bulb out. Thanks for the easy to understand video... it’s 2AM now so I’ll give a go at it during the day. Thanks again.

I might add.... the DRL (Daytime Running Light) is another story. I did also switch those out with LED they are nice during the day. BUT, when you flip these on at night they do tend to spot light on the road and it takes a couple seconds for your eyes to readjust. It’s not the LEDs fault but the housings fault. The reflector is just too small. I ended up putting a Sylvania Ultra in there. I’ll forgive something out for them.

      @@IamWedge Yeah, I was shocked. Didn't even notice it at first, because was in the city with plenty of lights on. Then I looked at a cars bumper and realized I didn't see a light reflection. I thought maybe a fuse blew out, wasn't even sure it was headlights, but couldn't check that either.
      Had to drive home with brights on since I live in the burbs. Felt bad about it, but had to. Eventually got home, checked fuse next day and was good. Followed your tutorial and fixed it easy, thanks!

      It's really easy @Dan M Just twist it back and forth as you pull up on it. Don't forget to lube that oring when you reinsert it. You got this!

      @@IamWedge I have the 2016 so mine must be different. It would not come out. Upon further inspection at the bottom there is a plastic notch preventing me from pulling it up and out of the larger reservoir. So I just unscrewed the top part as you and did and rotated the tube as much as I could out of the way. I was barely able to get back in there to unplug and replug the new one in. The passenger side was much easier. Thanks for the video!

    • @IamWedge
      @IamWedge  4 года назад +3

      @@DannoM_ Once you removed that top pin that hold that fill tube in place, thats why you rotate the tube. To get it out of that notch. Once you have it out of the notch it should come right out of the hole. At any rate, now you know for sometime in the future. Yes, that drivers side is a little bit of a tight area to work in. I'm glad you were able to get your bulbs swapped out. Nice to know the video is helpful. Thank you and Take Care.

    i cannot seem to figure out how to put my new H11 bulbs back into the connectors. they simply just do not fit

    • @IamWedge
      @IamWedge  2 года назад +1

      Are you talking about getting them to go back in the headlight housing? See at time mark @2:14 ? the final resting position is about 8 o'clock. So, that would mean somewhere between 5 -7 would be where to insert them. See where the wire connector comes out the bottom? Now think of the hands of a clock. Just rotate the bulb's housing till you feel it drop into place. Then rotate till you hear it click into place. Just take your time and find the proper location. Hope this helps

    • @martysoccerstud
      @martysoccerstud 3 года назад +1

      You probably have the Xenon HID bulb for low beam. Mine has it on a 2017 outback 2.5i limited and I couldn’t find a video but it’s also easy to replace just harder to spot. Twist the housing cover to remove it, twist the square metal connector to remove it, then twist the bulb to remove it. The back of the bulb is round and flush to the surface. Looks like a cigarette lighter. You have to pinch two metal holding clips out of the way on each side to remove it. Phillips brand HID was $55 a bulb at the time of this posting. The only HID they had in stock at advanced auto was Sylvania and it was $180 😳

      There is no room for a camera and my hand in that area. You will see that starting position for the light seated is about 7-8 o'clock I did say to rotate counter-clockwise. Once you hear and feel it unlock, it's as simple as pulling the bulb out of the housing.
