I have a rooster that is a welsummer crossed araucana and he is the cutest thing I have ever seen!!! He looks like a welsummer but he has cute little fluffy cheeks. He’s actually really handsome too, and my children affectionately named him Leonardo. Even when he was a baby we was always looking out for his hens and finding them treats and letting them eat first!! He’s such a good boy. We are definitely keeping him haha
Anyway, I recently bought a couple of purebred welsummer pullets because I was really hoping to get some beautiful terracotta eggs of my last lot of rainbow egg babies but all my hens lay dark brown or blue/green.. which is like of good but I was hoping for in between shades so we have bred them together for the next Gen of olives and Easter’s etc!
Argh I love chickens 😆 I can’t believe there are people out there who dont have chickens

Love the name! I agree, I couldn’t do life without them. The mix I had laid speckled brown eggs. I loooooove them.🥰🐔

Hi Karen, Ruth is definately not a pure Welsummer hen but looks more of an Americana cross with the muff under her beak. She also does not have the correct partridge pattern of a Welsummer hen. They should have fine 'peppered' markings on their backs and wings whereas Ruth is almost laced.

You are absolutely right. When I bought her they sold her as a welsummer, but she definitely has Easter egger mix in there. Her legs are dark also. The two in the bucket are definitely Welsummer though. Ruth is my little mix up. When I bought her she as a chick she looked exactly like the other welsummer. I have had a lot of other people say they have bought “pure” breeds and then they turn out a mix breed. I got her from Tractor supply. She lays green eggs too, not like the others. 😳 Watch my video on Ruth had her babies. I explain this a little bit. You have a good eye. 🐥

i had a dozen of them non of them were friendly, skittish , good forager , intelligent, i keep a cam in the run, i saw them twice jumping toward the run door hitting it with their feet to kick it open! i have golden lace, amber link, brown sexlink, buff Orrington, and i had barred rock, non of them know how to do that.

You have to admit that is pretty smart for a bird.🤣 I really like them. Now, I have some buff Orpingtons and barred rocks and they are wonderful birds too.

I keep checking on chicken breeds to find out what i got in my easter egger bunch lol
I think this breed is mixed in
It would make sense because a cross with amerauracana would be green eggers
I will have to wait and see what the eggs look like to get more information i think
They have a partridge color pattern the make is really red right now and no beard
But they are mixed chicks so? I got copper Maran chicks with the same bunch but they are soposed to be from a different place
Im haveing fun trying to find out which breeds i have in my crosses lol
My other younger batch of easter eggers look more like crested legbars
I have buff and blue amerauracana chicks this time no crosses
I don't mind crosses i think they are interesting:)
We have a couple of buff bantom bramas with the amerauracana chicks
    They are so much fun
Our turkey hen is sitting too so lots of babies bunnies too
    Keeping me busy
    Much love xoxox

I have a cross of French Marans mixed with Samson (RIR/ black astrolorp mix) they lay blueish/green eggs. I have always wanted lavender Americanas. I’m still trying to guess the mothers of Belinda’s chicks. One is definitely a rooster, but the colors on him are beautiful now! I know Luke (a barred rock) is the father. Mixes are fun! 🐓😊
