The Founding Fathers intended for the individual to have rights that are not possible under a Democracy. If we really were a Democracy, then slavery wouldn't have ended as early as it did. If were were a Democracy, we wouldn't have had Prohibition in the 1920s. If we were a Democracy, we most likely would have supported the Central Powers instead of the Entente in WWI. If we were a Democracy there are many things in history that would have turned out for the worst!
