Incredible considering the size of the tree how little damage it caused 😱. Glad you are still smiling George. Another old English saying for you 'every cloud has a silver lining'. You lost an amazing tree but the light and space opened up will let everything else thrive
wow ! you really were quick to clean up that mess. All this foliage will make for a wonderful mulch ! I hope the plants that were in its shade will be okay
Hey George, the bugs that are destroying your cape gooseberry are called 3-lined potato beetles. I have huge problems with it on my cape gooseberries too although ironically it's called potato beetles they seem to prefer cape gooseberry more. I was manually removing them but there are too many of them, so I'm about to give up and resort to bug sprays.
Glad most of your plants were not damaged …. garden still looking awesome. Btw, just a suggestion but a shade over the Monstera would be good, as it’ll yellow and die pretty quickly under sunlight …. especially strong hot days sunlight.
So glad you and Kim were ok, that's the main thing. Incredibly sad to see the loss of your ice cream bean tree though. Hopefully, it will open up space for more trees to flourish 🤞
Hi George! What is the plant in a big black pot at 1:47 next to the veggie raised bed (pumpkin?) along the driveway? Is that a cinnamon? It is so beautiful that caught my eyes. Thanks!
I feel like you should have tried to save the icecream bean by cutting it a couple of feet above the base, re-seting it and see if it sprouts new growth. You might still be avle to do it! Give it a try!
My main concern is for the young tropicals that were planted underneath the inga, protected from the hot sun, harsh winter winds and frost. Now my workload has increased to provide them that extra care.
Hi, What is happening to your ice cream bean tree is happening to my lime tree. The bark has been stripped away; only on a portion of the trunk and it doesn't go right around the trunk. The lime tree is starting to seep a sap now. I don't want to lose my tree. Can anyone offer some advice please
one of those fence straining winches or something more heavy duty will create a mechanical advantage to lift trunk after watering ground heavily -can be done 🚜 🚑

Thanks for the English sayings, Brett, so true!👍

Chainsaw sure helped! Monstera will be the most challenging in the sun.
So happy you are both safe and garden wasn't destroyed
Thanks!

Thanks for the info! It's coming out soon, plenty of berries to pick off the ground.

Good idea. Thanks for sharing.

It's allowed for many new possibilities. Thanks for sharing!

Two potted pomegranate trees on either side of the zucchini beds.
@@RealLifeFruitopia Very beautiful leaves!🥰
Thanks George for the update! It was quite a storm !
Yes it was!
"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade" is the way to look at the storm casualties

That's a good idea, but I didn't have a winch or helping hand to straighten it. The trunk wasn't moving a single inch using my own strength.
Is it worth trying to dig the soil around the base of the Icrecreme bean tree to loosen it all up and maybe you can get some help to straigthen it up?
It's out and dusted.
It looks so lush and green after the rain, how do you water all of that when it's dry??? That's A LOT to water buddy?
Unlimited city water + unlimited free time = job done.
Have you considered trying to grow some mushrooms in those big logs?
Nope. My partner would be interested though!
Is your Chico jujube fruit ready to be harvest?
Hi George my Melbourne friend don’t worry Inga beans are like weeds up in far North Queensland you can grow another one in no time.
My main concern is for the young tropicals that were planted underneath the inga, protected from the hot sun, harsh winter winds and frost. Now my workload has increased to provide them that extra care.
Could you purchase a cheap comalong wench and wench it up...we use electric and manual wenches in construction all the time...just an idea
Thanks for the tip, however I decided to remove it. The horizontal roots were/are almost as large as the trunk, it was a beast.
The same bugs are there on my cape gooseberries on the other end of the city.
Damn!

Try ivy organics white wash to protect the trunk while it heals
Ivy organics white wash is a little pricey but lasts all year and helps sun burn and rodent attacks on the trunk.
thanks for the advice
Still beautiful ❤️
Thanks!
