- “Dandelion” by The Rolling Stones
Composers: Mick Jagger and Keith Richards
Lyrics:
Prince or pauper, beggar man or thief
Play the game with ev'ry blow you bring
Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion
One o'clock, two o'clock, three o'clock, four o'clock five
Dandelions don't care about the time
Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion, blow away dandelion
Tho' you're older now it’s just the same
You can play the dandelion game
When you're finished with your childlike prayers
Well, you know you should wear it
Tinker, tailor, soldier, sailors lives
Rich man, poor man, beautiful, daughters, wives
Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion, blow away dandelion
Little girls and boys come out to play
Yes!
Bring your dandelions to blow away
Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion, blow away dandelion
Blow away dandelion
Blow away dandelion
Blow away dandelion

Really?
@SenorDesmadreDefinitely.they were actually friends.🎵🔥💥💯✌️
@@Edoardo-mo7rgyes indeed.👍🏻✌️🎵💯
Yessss
Only the friggin’ media wanted a Rolling Stones vs Beatle battle for their simpleton crap. The Stones and the Beatles were and have been good friends for years. PS. Gawd, I hate the f******** media.
The Brian Jones period, Pure Magic...
Totally. Thx D for appreciating
Yes the Brian Jones time was full of ballads and rock music,, And many different instruments he used,,While after Jones the stones did mostly rock only..Very versatile time with Brian Jones,,Even Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin was impressed with Brian Jones.. Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison where very saddened of Brians death..I think the doors even did a song for him after his passing.
While Mick and Keith were struggling to compete with the Beatles Sargent Pepper, Brian Jones and his masterful palette of ethereal and haunting sounds, kept the band relevant during the flower power era, and saved them from fading away, like so many other bands into early 60's obscurity.

1965 to 1981 for me.
One of their underrated psychedelic gems 💎
Yes really like it
Yes, right up there with "She's A Rainbow," which is my favorite track of theirs. This song is very catchy, whimsical, and very uplifting!! I love this track!
Underrated Stones Songs many from 1965-66....This one, Out of Time, I'm Free, Ride On, Baby, Gotta Get away....
As a kid I never realized how much I loved Charlie Watts' drumming, in songs like Dandelion, 19th Nervous Breakdown and one of Charlie's best showcases, Rocks Off.
I love the hits on the last chorus of the song after Brian's solo - at 2:40-2:42. Perfect.
Heartbreaker
He is underrated because he was low key.
RIP Charlie
This is the song that made me a Rolling Stones fan as a young kid. This was a Brian Jones period for sure but when I heard Charlie's drumming on Dandelion that made me a believer for sure. I love his creative drumming at the end. Love it forever.
I was a Rolling Stones fan since I was a kid. And still am.
Me too, since I was 7 or 8 in '73 or so putting on the 45's left after the divorce. Chuck Berry was in there too! As a kid the music really floored me.

Absolutely Paul's voice is way more audible than John's, especially during the final refrains. The "DE-LI" syllables on the repeated "Dandelion" are unmistakably Macca

This song is so underrated.
Yup

@@paulph12002 I know we all rate it highly, but they don’t play it live and a lot of stones fans (not including the absolute fanatics, but rather the avid stones fans) don’t know this one. I would considerate underrated by the public, rather than stones fanatics.
@@paulph12002 underrated not heard on the radio or live......underground

After all we're still morons who tend to hang out our wise asses as we're clinging to our thoughts of being real instead of really climbing the real thing.
McCartney and Lennon on backing vocals only make this song more iconic.
I think so too. For some reason they only get credit for vocals on We Love You, though? This sounds so Beatley in the backing vocals, sorry but Mick and Keith just don't sing like that.
That's all L and MC can do, backing vocals in a pop song. Would hear them do backing vocals in a rock-blues song

Amen to that. Brian left us too soon.
Amen to that, brother...
Nicky Hopkins tinkled the ivories here...
And now Charlie :(
who is ian Stewart??
Charlie's drumming stands out.
Yes! Charlie did that quite well- all with that tiny drum kit- in comparison to other drummers who needed to be surrounded by drums and cymbals, unsuccessfully trying to make the same iconic sounds. He and Ringo were birds of a feather, both being the steady backbeat of a generation on their little Ludwigs.
The Stones psychedelic era was the best for me!
y+es...my fav Stones song..so magical
I like their 70s stuff also but I mostly listen to this era of them. And their psychedelia is massively underrated as this lovely song shows
Very briefly the Stones' psychedelic stuff... their best songs on this period (1967) was "She's a Rainbow", "Dandelion", "We Love You", "2000 Man", "2000 Light Years From Home", "Citadel" & Bill Wyman's "In Another Land".

That's the gods truth dude. 👄🌬️
The Stones were obviously influenced by The Beatles for awhile and in a very good way.
@@DDEENY They were competing with the Beatles, to take the top billing away from them, which they did, quite handily. Think the pressure is what helped kill the Beatles band
The older I get the more I love this song.
To me, this was the Stones doing their one Beatle-esque song, even got Lennon and McCartney to sing back-up.
you have to see how the song evolved, it wasn't dandelion at first sometimes up, sometimes down...a.keith song..
The vocals sound more Beach Boys-esque and the arrangement Beatle-esque. Fun hearing Brian trying to play oboe, sounds like my daughter playing when she was 8 years old.

Arguably the Rolling Stones' finest moment, and in a three-way tie with Blitz Magazine's pick for Best Single Of 1967.

Rest in peace Charlie Watts. A sad day for music. Cheers!
Lets drink to him.
A wonderfully charming and sunny slice of 1967 Psychedelic pop. It's a natural progression from Ruby Tuesday which had come out earlier in the year and which announced to the world that the Stones were taking a break from their down and dirty Blues rock and exploring softer and more melodic territory. The Stones quickly took Psychedelia down a darker lane on Their Satanic Majesties Request which makes this delightful tune all the more of an anomaly in their repertoire. Dandelion solidly proclaims that the Stones could do sunny pop with the best of them when they felt of a mind to do so. I love it!
This song 🎵 takes me back to when I was young and I would play the dandelion game. I'm so blessed that I grew up with this type of music 🎶 🎵 the Stones are always 2nd to none 🎉🎉

The thing I love about this song is not a lot of people acknowledge that the Rolling Stones are ahead of the time the lyrics are actually inspired by a British counting or nursery rhyme “tinker tailor “ then of course the mixed up with a little psychedelic era, about how dandelions don’t care about the time dandelions will make you wise …. And of course we can’t forget that Brian Jones was actually still alive when they were recorded this song and don’t forget John Lennon and Paul McCartney were on the back up vocals how awesome is that!!!
But the kicker is since John Lennon and Paul McCartney , never admitted it due to the fact it’s wasn’t filmed at that time !!!

Loved this track when it came out! Nothing like the Stones doing Beatle harmonies! As usual, great lyrics. People slagged the album when it came out, maybe just a mite too soon after Sgt Pepper, but now they love it.
Well, actually here you can hear The Beatles doing Beatle harmonies :)
Satanic majesties is nothing like Sgt. pepper. Comparisons are pointless.
No, the point is that John Lennon and Paul McCartney did the harmonies on this song.
This song makes me what to pick up a dandelion and think of the Stones ❤
Brian Jones on oboe/alto sax near the end of the song..best time for the Stones was when Brian was with them..😊❤🎉
LOVE the STONES
Man, the ideas they got from psychedelics and weed were other worldly. Not a single electric guitar in this track yet it is a rock song. Brilliant. This and Ruby Tuesday were on par with what the Beatles were doing and no doubt inspired by them. Helps to be friends with them, too, guesting on each others tracks in 1967.
Stones Star Log supplemental 41389.1 - the harmonies dissected. I think Lennon and Richards are doing the falsetto high harmonies (especially distinguishable at 1:11) and McCartney and Jagger are doing the lower harmonies. Paul's falsetto would've made it more obvious the Beatles were in the track, they kept Paul's woo in the background at 1:25. As a huge fan of both bands, this is simply amaze balls.
Charlie up in the mix sounds great.
Beautiful!!!
The Beatles helped the Stones with the harmony on this track.
