i love empress dowagers and ruyi's relationship the most. i love how in the beginning empress dowager was against ruyi bc of her aunt and i can't blame her. in the palace, relationships matter over everything, who your clan is, who your relatives are, who you choose to spend time with in the palace. since empress dowager and her aunt were like mortal enemies, i can imagine the sort of person she thought ruyi was back then, even though she was young. commitmentand begins respecting her. that always makes me feel some type of way bc empress dowager is in her current position bc she was smart enough to survive, did the right amount of plotting, stayed under the radar enough to be alive but above radar at the same time to not be forgotten. empress dowager understands what's it like to be a palace woman, so seeing ruyi's trials and obstacles, and overcoming them. i think she really likes that, she can't help but feel they're similar in that regard. when ruyi starts assisting the empress dowager like with her standoff with the king and when she didn't want her daughter to get married off, i can't help but feel she starts really starts liking ruyi. at the end, i really think they formed a bond. when ruyi and the king was having marital problems, empress dowager would try to make them more amicable to each other, empress dowager helped save her son when ruyi was locked up in her palace, she even tries to persuade the king to go easier on ruyi after she cut her hair off to signify divorce. it feels good to see it bc empress dowager really didn't understand who ruyi was in the beginning. i cant help but feel ruyi liked empress dowager as well despite basically forcing her aunt to die so that she, herself could live herself.
The dowager herself defeated many “ bitches” to get to where she was… including one who started out as a close friend and who later turned enemy, so she never was able to trust anyone until they have prove themselves to her.
It’s surprising that Ruyi would help her after what she did to her aunt, and what she put her through after her aunt died. But Ruyi is nothing if not smart, and making a friend of your enemy could be the smartest move of all.
She hit a lot of birds with one stone from this decision. She managed to ease the Emperor's worries, gain approval from the Dowager, settle a score with the Empress who's already sick and grieving over losing two of her children.
The empress dowager was against Ruiy because of her aunt but in the end she admired her for her love and devotion and help her to show the emperor the truth face of Wei. All see Ruyi devotion and loyalty except the emperor.
都說如懿周迅演得好，但我覺得論對手戲太后也是一絕，這片段跟前一片表情變化都超到位的!!
