I do see a bit brighter but I can't focus when I use this. As though I can't zoom in the focus. I have a simple little 127 powerseeker.

8" SVT. CELESTRON makes a good one. A 10" Newt is better for nebula, but planets
, galaxies, star clusters, can't beat a SVT. That is for size, and tracking. A triplet on a good GEM is better for AP. Especially for nebula, but the longer focal lengths of the SVT works better for planets. Galaxies too.
My favorite scope was my 16" Dob. Great for eyepiece time, not good for AP.
Polar align the base and don't use alt/AZ for AP will help get better results, but a good alignment program will be necessary for good AP.
