Excellent video, as a student paramedic I have found training for the igel often doesn't go much beyond "lubricate, follow the roof of the mouth, secure, it will work" when in practice things often aren't that simple.
Lmao. Not in CPR. If they’re gagging because you’re pushing on their chest, that doesn’t count. They’re literally dead, if you are doing CPR without an advanced airway because it’s “CONTRAINDICATED HURR DURRRRR” you have no common sense and you are killing people.
It would have been nice to have some suggestions for when then iGel is not seating properly. I worked an arrest where we simply could not get it to seat properly and the air kept bypassing no matter how many times we tried to re-insert/re-position. To me this is pretty much the most critical issue we can run into and it's not even mentioned here.
After watching a another video, I found out it may be a matter of sizing. Even though a patient's weight may be in the igel size parameters, their airway may be a different size. Try larger or smaller?
@midogei I went through that on my very first surgery 5 months ago. I didn't even know until I read the procedure details in my patient portal. I wasn't aware of anything that happened to me even in pre-op. I remember absolutely nothing even in recovery. I never wanted this surgery but there was no alternative. I was manhandled by both the surgeon and anesthesiologist whom I never even met. I was just hurriedly processed like a product on an assembly line. Damn all doctors and hospitals. ☹️☹️😣😣😣☹️

Thanks for the video. I'm an EMT student, and found your video to be quite easy to understand.
Thank you for the great instructional content. Can you make a video reviewing use CPAP ? That would be useful to have as a reference.
Good point about CPR compressions spewing secretions from the IGEL, but “coughing, gagging” are contraindications

Greetings from Galveston County ESD#2. We're transitioning from the King to the iGel. Are you still using it in BCEHS?
I sometimes have issues with capnography not reading adequately. Could it be that the seal wasn't maintained due to letting it go?
Does the PCP license allow us to suction that far?
Fantastic, great info
You guys don't have end tidal?
please fix audio. voice is only on one channel (RT). Irritating to one ear and harder to focus. Almost going in one ear and out the other ;P
Yeah my left speaker had the voice, and right speaker had the music.
Music was totally unnecessary too. Distracting.
This igel animation is looking endotracheal

What a degrading thing to go through. 😠😠😡😡
well its usually done while the patient is unconscious, so... unless you want your loved ones to die because of inadequate breathing
