Meanwhile China has the largest housing bubble in the world and millions over the past 20 years have lost absolutely everything from their banks. European banks are far better regulated.
HDFC is almost 2 n half times bigger than SBI but is still missing in this list. It’s in the 10th spot as per Forbes largest banks published in 2024
In term market capitalization hdfc is ahead of sbi but in terms of total assets under management sbi lead
It might be more helpful to see either the best percentage tier one capital each retains or the total in actual easily negotiable assets that tier one capital represents.
It is as we all saw in 2008 it is fairly easy to become a very large bank . What really counts is the quality of the loan book and the size of the cushion held in case of mass default.
