  • Spent the weekend up in New Hampshire again. We hiked Mt Pemigewasset via the Indian Head Trail. Its a pretty quick and easy 1.8 or so miles up about 1500ft of elevation to the summit. The views are quite amazing especially for the effort put in to get there. After we hit the summit we back tracked down to the car and drove over to the Hancock Campground to hang out for the night. The Hancock Campground ended up surprisingly busy. Possibly due to the holiday, or maybe that is business as usual this time of year. It is one of the only campgrounds I am aware of open in the winter. We also fired up a quick Thanksgiving meal to eat that night, with plenty of leftover desserts to choose from to top it all off.

As much as I love money, I would highly suggest giving yourself at least 48 hours before any purchase decision and asking yourself “Do I really need this?”. I hope more times than not, you find yourself saying “I Definitely do NOT need this”. If you find yourself still in need, shop around and find the best deal for your money.
Please note that I am not recommending any of the gear seen in any of my videos. The gear I use is what I have found works best for me at the time period I am using it. I have come to these gear choices through vast levels of trial, error, and experimenting with gear out on trail.
Gear, clothing, footwear, etc. are not one style works for all. Do as much research as you can, try out things in person if able, and make the best informed purchase decision for YOU. Do not buy gear just because it worked for, was showcased by, or recommended by someone on RUclips

My wife and I like going out on Thanksgiving for a hike. We've done that for more than a few years and enjoy the quiet trails. The trailhead was empty again this year as we started out, but that didn't last long. We were soon joined by more hikers than we'd seen in all the past years combined. Just as much fun this time, but with a lot more one minute friendships made along the way. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays!

We did a couple of the actual mountain Thanksgivings on Thanksgiving and would see may be a handful of people out there. I kind of want to load up an entire backpack of meals and desserts and just hang out on some summit and eat with random people haha. Enjoy the holidays as well sir!

Franconia Notch doing what it does (snow squalls while you can see the blue in the distance). What a great Thanksgiving you had.

Hey there Chris! Great to see you guys out there traipsing around in the snow. Awesome! I would really like to see a vid on the hammock system! I took a break from the hammock concept but now im easing back into it. Im sober so I don't typically like to stay in established campgrounds or backcountry sites so hammocking is the thing to have when you want to blend into the woods in relative proximity to water. Plus it's easier to keep things LNT. It's about a pound heavier than your cuben fiber tent system thing or so they say. Anyway... really enjoyed this Chris. Take care.

Wow your hiking partner sure has a lot of hair and it looks nice. That was a nice climb up but it did look a little sketchy in some places. One of my favorite backpacking meals is Stovetop Stuffing. So good at the end of the day. John from MI

Great video, love Pemigewasset so much. Such a great summit, and so nice to see you with your partner again. I remember when we did it thinking it was the best marked trail I'd ever been on.
