    Pieces covered in this video:
    Steering Knuckle
    Axle Shaft
    Ball Joints
    Brake Dust Shield
    Wheel Spindle
    Spindle Nuts & Washers
    6 Bolt Wheel Hub
    Rotor
    Warn 6 Bolt Premium Locking Hub
    Brake Pads
    Caliper
    Caliper Support Anchor
    Locking hub gasket: bit.ly/2MWHdb6
    Spindle Nut Socket: amzn.to/38x3IeZ
    Everything else is easily acquired from most Auto Stores.

    Once again, you have showed more knowledge and skill than any other video on CJ wheel bearings.

    Thank you for the the recommendation of pre bending the lock washer in a visefor the outer spindle nut.
    I just changed the brake rotors on my 82 CJ-7 yesterday.
    You saved me some frustration!

    Thanks for the video. I have a 84 CJ7 as a graduation gift. Finished rebuilding the engine and now it’s time for new rotors and bearings. Your video is a huge help!

      What did you rebuild withinnthe engine? Did you do it yourself?

    • @64_Falcon
      @64_Falcon 3 года назад

      I did it myself. But I did a quick cheapie overhaul. New rings and bearings, cam and timing chain and new seals. After that I just finished redoing the braking system but I’ve figured my rotors are warped so now I’m about to replace them.

      I subscribed when I found your channel a while ago. I'm going to go with the original color of orange ish red.
      The motor is a 302 ford. That's what I put into it 35 or so years ago. Currently looking for a original steering wheel that I like. that doesn't cost a fortune.

      @@grizzrider2684 I just sold an original steering wheel from my parts jeep. Bummer. Color choice sounds cool. Did you switch out the engine for any particular reason? Any difficulties with pairing up it up with the transmission?

    • @grizzrider2684

      @@coolguy_CJ7 Bummer. I do have two good leads for steering wheels that I like here in Salt Lake. I'm doing the research to see if a YJ wheel will fit my CJ, I think a XJ wheels will fit.
      The Original 258 didn't have the power or speed that I was happy with, I was maxed at 55 mph on the freeway.
      I couldn't pull a trailer very well. The 302 enabled the Jeep to reach 65 mph with ease. Dropping in the 302 wasn't to bad. I had to cut off a half inch off of the pilot shaft, after that it was a direct bolt on to the T150 tranny. I had to build clutch linkage and motor mounts.
      I had informational help from Novak.

    Another great video. Tip for your viewers, the thinner race and bearing is the inner (towards the Jeep), the thicker pair face outward towards the hub lock. I bought a kit and wasn't re-using the damaged axle hubs (or pulling the races), so it took me awhile to figure that out after I noticed they were different. Boy those bearings are a tight fit on the spindles...

    • @coolguy_CJ7
      @coolguy_CJ7  3 года назад

      Thank you for the build. That's great information for all of us to have. And yes, they are a tight fit. I was talking with a viewer a couple days ago on how he sanded down his spindle to get the bearings on.

    • @jonmcguire228
      @jonmcguire228 3 года назад

      I should add that older drum-brake CJs with a smooth spindle apparently use the thicker races / bearings for both inner and outer. Only the disc brake axles have stepped spindles and one set of thinner races / bearings. (I can just imagine some poor guy pulling his hair out trying to figure out which of two identical sets is "thinner".)

    Hello! So I watched and followed along with your video here, but I noticed that you didn't do or say anything about the little anti rattle clips... do you know where and how those go on?

    • @coolguy_CJ7
      @coolguy_CJ7  2 года назад

      Well you’ve asked a question that I don’t have an answer for. The kit that I had didn’t have an anti-rattle clips and as of now, I haven’t had any issues. I will consult others that probably know more than me and let you know what I find. I don’t even know where they would go. My FSM doesn’t reference them. Hmmmm

    Things you didn’t powder coat, what have you painted those parts with? Looking for something that’s gonna hold up on my Jeep project? Thanks

    • @coolguy_CJ7
      @coolguy_CJ7  2 года назад

      If it's something that's part of the undercarriage and not a glamour piece, then I painted it with Chassis Saver and then top coat spray painted it with the appropriate color (98% were semi-gloss black). Chassis Saver is UV sensitive. Does this answer your question?

    The bottom nut wouldn’t torque to 85 ftlbs, it kept spinning. The three notches on the bottom but should be facing upwards, correct? The threads towards the top of the nut are narrowed to cause it to lock I believe but mine did not.

    • @coolguy_CJ7
      @coolguy_CJ7  2 года назад +1

      I've heard people having issues with this on some of the FB forums and CJ chat forums. Have tightened up the top ball joint yet? That might help, but if it doesn't, then tighten it as much as you can get it. Then grab a C clamp and apply it to the top of the stud and the bottom of the ball joint. Crank it down and use a crescent wrench to tighten it as much as you can. Now all of this is assuming that it is the correct ball joint. For some, the stud isn't large enough to mesh with the hole in the wheel knuckle. Please report back if this worked. We'll get it figured out.

    Is there a seal at the opening of the axle housing, where you put the front axles back in? I bought the dust washers, but cant find any seal. Thanks

    • @coolguy_CJ7
      @coolguy_CJ7  2 года назад +1

      For the front axle (Dana30), the seals are in the differential housing. The bearings are in the wheel hub. The dust washers are the only things at the end of the axle housing. The outer one (bigger one) is impossible to find. Does that answer your question?

    Hey man, I have a video request and hopefully it wont take you too far out of your way. I'm restoring a 1986 cj7 and I'm trying to figure out the windshield wiper washer components. I was just wondering if you could do a quick video showing how everything is connected and whatnot. Cant find much on it, thanks!

    • @coolguy_CJ7
      @coolguy_CJ7  3 года назад

      Your model is definatley a little harder to track parts down for. Really depends on if you want OEM or replacement aftermarket. I've got a guy that is awesome for parts but I keep him to myself. You can email me and we can talk about it. For aftermarket, I use rockauto for all of the gaskets, seals and things that wear out. For the rest I go to Summit Racing, Quadratec, and/or Morris 4x4.
