The knock on Jimmy Smith its that he is injure prone, despite that when returning from injury he is maintains his elite skills while other players are diminished from the same injuries he had. Got to give him credit for putting that work in coming back stronger

One of the most underrated corners of all time and it’s all due to injury. If jimmy had a solid 6 year stretch without a major season ending injury he would’ve went down as one of the great corners of this generation. What he did from 2013 up until his injury mid 2014 was one of the most dominant 1 and a half seasons of corner play you’ll ever see.

SimplyAS10 jimmy and Webb being healthy would’ve brought a third super bowl in 2014, straight up. We had a practice squad secondary, Matt Elam was a starting CORNER on that team. Shit was sad smh. Every year our defense would go from top 5 to bottom 5 IMMEDIATELY after jimmy would go down, I mean very next possession you see the difference and by the end of the year the defense would literally drop 20+ spots in every category, our run defense even shit the bed without jimmy because we would have to stop bringing safeties down in the box.

Stats don't lie, between 2013-2017 Ravens Pass Defense held opponents under 200yds when Jimmy Smith was on the field. When he was out the defense was giving up over 300yds . Unfortunately for the league due to his past injuries its one of the reasons the Ravens are now loaded with DBs

Ty Shields this comment got me thinking. I did some research only 5 players remain on the team from the 2012 super bowl. Tucker, Koch, Cox, Jimmy Smith, and Pernell McPhee. Crazy.
If he could've stayed healthy the majority of his career he'd be known as bbn one of the greats! His talent is slept on. He's gonna shine in that Safety Hybrid Dime package position moving forward!

Definitely had that "what if" career. If he didn't have so many injuries in his career he might have gone down as the best corner the Ravens have ever had.
I was around for Chris McAlister, I saw him in his prime, and I honestly think jimmy smith has to go down as the ravens greatest corner. Cmac was a stud but his game was so limited in comparison, he didn’t have anything close to the range and diverse skill set of jimmy.
Jimmy makes a case for the best in franchise history.

SimplyAS10 he was a vicious press corner and he could hit and run support like a strong safety, jimmy is more revis-like and cmac was more Ramsey-like but definitely not the same caliber as Ramsey, just talking play style. Cmac had his fair share of injuries too. If I could choose between those guys for one playoff run guaranteed healthy, I’m taking jimmy without a thought

He came with a lot of fanfare he was compared to CMac21 his first year an injury on special teams set him back the next year he was remembered for his plays at the goal line to solidify the 2012 chip then resting on his laurel's he didn't come back hungry and was oft injured the Ravens not only picked up his 5th year option they paid him as a top corner for 5 years he never fulfilled those expectations and looked like a bad deal then there were the off field instances like at The Green Turtle Marlon Humphrey and Anthony Averett arrived and it looked like his number was up he finally got serious studied his craft more and now in his 10th year is part of the best secondary in the NFL🤔👍😎😷
