  • Creating a wildlife pond in your garden benefits wildlife in so many ways as water is the hub of any garden. Although this pond isn’t designed for wildlife it’s recycled and therefore is a great starting point for up cycling into a wildlife pond and I made it work with the addition of plants and materials going into the water to allow creatures to enter and exit it including hedgehogs which can fall in ponds and die and often do.

Thank you for the tip about sieving the soil to make "sand" - worked a treat for mine

I've just done the same. Too lazy to go and buy sand so picked out all the stones and voila, dirt! Also pulled out yet more garbage stones from the dig, just like your man here in the video. Some can actually serve as decorative stones.

Great channel and video, good to see more people putting in wildlife ponds and macro ponds. UK wildlife needs all the help it can get. Small changes make a big difference.
I see you've got a flint and clay soil. Got loads of that in North Essex in my parent's garden. Turns your wellies into diving boots.

Hard working, but how brilliant to have two ponds. Amazed at your soil contents. I tend to dig up sheet glass for some reason along with old pottery. I also found an old medicine bottle once. Could you partially bury the stump and drill some holes in it to begin the rotting process. The wild flowers growing up around it will make it look attractive as it rots.

Something is going on with the weather seriously. It’s the Gulf Stream partially shitting down or something related to climate change or the oceanic currents?
