i should really get around to building a 4 stage large water filtration system plan. heavy sedament to ozone to uv to boil and cooldown. it wont have minerals but you could drink it without getting the squits! I call it 'preferred bias'. its in every country in the world and will never go away because we are tribalistic humans. its about understanding it and finding your accepted tolerance. the thais do the same as do the malay, the singaporean, the swedes, the french, etc. everyone will prefer and have biases toward their tribe and treat the outsider like crap for simply not being them. just gotta work with what you get, sadly chin up sammy. your videos are great because its NOT all smiles and sunshine in the land of smiles. its a home like every other with good and the bad. you're balancing it well.
@@GoneAdrift desal takes a lot of elec and you wouldnt need uv or ozone. heavy sedament to boil and capture steam, cool in pipeline to make clean water. not efficient per liter but would work for basic drinking water
I learned a saying when we lived in Colombia and it applies here. “If it was efficient, it wouldn’t be cheap”. It brings me some comfort when I’m having one of those moments or days. Chin up Sam.
The Thai people only put up with us westerners and the land of smiles is just a fantasy. There are many good things about Thailand and many bad things also. When I first started visiting Thailand my idea was to retire there but now 40 years later I prefer just to visit there. My Thai wife of 34 years prefers just to visit as well. The number one reason is for 6-8 months a year its to hot but there are many other reasons including that Thai's always will see us as outsiders and me mostly not accepting how hard it is to try and get certain things done there. Hope you fair a lot better
Thai serenity (mei pen rei) is what we farangs lack. What I always feel is that as a foreigner you are generally treated kindly by the Thais but differently. Adapting and accepting the inevitable is the only sensible path.
I shouldn’t laugh but Fark me 😆.. my girl lives in Jomtien (I’m back in 20 days and counting down ) but she rang me the other day saying “condo have no water” I said ring reception see why, she did, they couldn’t explain…and in Thai fashion “oh well Sabai Sabai” she just went and showered at a friends😆.. NOW after watching your post while I’m still in Australia, I can now tell her why she doesn’t have water 😆😆 got to love YT , Another good post mate, love your style and your content, keep it up, I might try and buy you a beer when I’m back 👌👌
Your right for sure. Thais don't like farangs to show them a new way of doing things for sure. My wife told me we need a new washing machine as it was broken. One youtube video later I had fixed it. I told her not to overfill the washing machine, she still fills it to the neck. I'm chilled about these things after 10yrs married it's just their Thai way. As for the water issue you have with the water being to hot, buy a dustbin and fill it up and the water will cool down then shower from the bucket. Its also handy incase the water does go off. We will never change them but their positives outweigh their negatives.
I understand the Thai way of thinking that you have just described, Although they may not say it outright to you, do you recall from your time in oz ever seeing the Boganesque bumper sticker "Fit in or F*ck off" its just now you live on the other side of the sticker. Your patience is far greater than mine in your situation Love the vids keep it goin.
I have lived here over 2 years now and definitely there is a growing anti western sentiment. The over million Russians entering the country along with other cultures showing up and making money and buying up stuff. While the average thai still struggling is a tough situation
just filled up the inflatable pool today to celebrate songkran with the thai family, and the colour of water is the least of the issues i have seen blades of grass too in the pool, but its all good. Hope you guys have a happy songkran. Keep "fighting" (never give up) as the locals say here.
Sod missing showering. Find a hotel and use their pool. Lots in Jomtien. Cooking wise, you are a bit stuffed, hence your great bicycle ride. Thanks for the video. It's great content.
really enjoy your perspective of living within the Thai culture and how we as foreigners are accepted but not really cherished for new ideology or efficient methods of process.... Ting Tong Farang yak yak 555
Those two three pointers you made at the end of the video were priceless,.. looks like all those years of throwing your used tissues into the waste basket paid off,….lol
Remember to take a breath & try a different way, I hear where you coming from on all points you made. My tip is dont fight it it, it gets worse and you feel sh it later on....Easier said than done in the moment...Prepare now for future water problems
I totally agree if you are a foreigner its your job to adapt to their culture. If you dont like it then you should find a place that suits your needs and values
Hi Sam & Lovely Lele, I am sure you have heard the expression ( TIT ) as a fairly young buck and your first experience living in a normal Thai environment, these things are normal like water shut & electric shut down from time to time. Very few normal Thai people pay any taxes because most are self employed so No Money to property train the staff or maintain these systems. That’s why you see hotels and large business have there own water supply and electrical substations to support their businesses. Of course it’s vastly improved over the years since I started to come here ( Thailand ) in 1978 I am a oldie 😂. You will never fully get the Thai way but over the coming years you will learn to adapt and live with it ( TIT ) it’s their country your only a visitor. I’ve seen it in Spain on a recent holiday ( Expats English ) complaining about how things are done in Spain and that the Spanish Don’t Speak English. As they say if you don’t like it Go Home. 😂 Keep up the great work Cheers Irish Paul
In my 1bdrm condo in Jomtien and l keep a min of 12 6 ltr bottles of water. Just got back from Makro and now I'm at 19btls. I have a lot of food on hand and can survive a month except fresh produce. Ex prepper from abroad. Keep a large container of water in shower for such times when ever the water is shut off. Love the content mate. Just ex military.
Clearly a few teething problems, I am sure you and Lele will get through them All water tanks are the same, when filling them from empty, let them settle for 24 hours before attempting to turn the taps on
Judging From Afar, Thais Seem More Polite Than Genuinely Friendly. I'm Not Saying They're Not Nice & Friendly, But It Just Seems More Respectful Than Anything Else, Which Is O.K. (BTW, On Average, That's Alot More Than You Get In Many Countries, Including The Western, Developed Ones.💯🤨)
You will be right…just one of those days and I have had many. I have only survived 10 years here by maintaining a strong ability to laugh…insanity was the other option. BUT when I look back on it the Thai ways are why i love this country. Just let it roll !
She's totally right my friend they don't need us. leave that crap western way of life behind I'm an English 43 year old man that's now lived in Sydney last 11 years been going to Thailand for nearly 20 years and I still love it to this day coz they way Thailand is and the way Thai people are. The western world sucks lol keep up the good videos
Well we sure don't need them, they think there isn't another 400 places to choose from with beaches and warm weather? They are sadly mistaken. Also where people speak English.
Try living in japan 😂 when you have to be more Japanese then the next door neighbours 😂 trust me Thailand is easy verse japan 😂 the battle is real , if only I spoke better Japanese but also if I did I’d most likely lose a lot of respect 😂
If you cant have a shower you can always pop out to one of thoes soapy massage establishments. I am sure your girlfriend will understand. A few cold beers you'll feel better bro.

Heavy sediment to ozone to UV to boiling point to DESALINATION to ice cold please BrainsTrust 🧠

You might be the only person who is making videos regarding Thai culture and people who actually says it as it is .
I love rocking upto a hotel in the car and the security rushing to guide me to reverse the car into a park. Just laugh and not look at him.
Ah the joys of living in Pattaya Good luck getting things sorted
A real video from a real person living in Thailand we all been there!
You are the man Sammy! 🇦🇺

It's good to have water tanks mate. The temperature here in Isaan is 41 C , so the cold water is actually hot.

Take a deep breath, breathe out slowly. I know how you're feeling.

A really tough situation for the locals huh!? I really appreciate your wisdom
i really enjoyed that. a glimpse of some of the realities of everyday life.
Wrap the water pipe in some reflectix combined with insulation and see how that helps with the water temp.
