5 to 6 years back I was a person who used to watch 3 to 4 movies a month in cinemas. Mostly first day first show.
And today I really watch one movie a month in cinemas. The main reason is that the prices of movie tickets have increased by 15 to 25% but the prices of food items in cinemas have increased by 75 to 100%
I would prefer to buy 199 rupees Netflix subscription for a month and watch movies and web series on it. Which is less than one person ticket price in cinemas.
If they show hit olden movies pvr can come in profit. We have missed many good movies because of work and responsibilities. We now can go and enjoy with PVR. I am 54 yrs many people will be there who will agree with

Uncomfortable seats, small movie screens , no Dolby Atmos, no proper 3D these are the main reason and small movie theaters have better screen, seats and audio quality than pvr.

I was working in a small town in west bengal from 2015-2018 and there was a small multiplex in that town and the tickets were mostly 170 and 200 for 3D movies. Which was very affordable and I used to watch atleast two movies a month.

Ticket prices should be in range of 150 - 250 max and they should charge reasonable amount for food. Foot fall will increase with this and earning will improve. Jyada kamane ke chakkar me kahi tala na lag jaye.
मल्टीप्लेक्स के महंगे टिकट और खाने की कीमत के कारण आधे से अधिक लोगों ने फिल्म देखने जाना बंद कर दिया है। एक आम आदमी मल्टीप्लेक्स नहीं जाता। अपनी टिकटों की कीमत कम नहीं करेंगे तो मल्टीप्लेक्स भी बंद हो जायेंगे।

मैं तो फ़िल्में और वेब सीरीज सब घर पर ही देखता हूं प्रोजेक्टर लगा दिया है, बड़ा सा स्क्रीन १३२ इंच का लगा दिया है, घर पर थिएटर खोल के रखा है।
होम थिएटर भी लगा दिया है।
सब मिलाकर टोटल खर्चा 30,000 हुआ।
रोज पिक्चर देखूंगा तो भी ₹100 खर्चा नहीं आएगा।
1 साल में पैसा वसूल।

Ye saare techniques bekaar hai, my advice is reduce the ticket price is to increase the footfalls.
If a cinema hall has 100 seats and they are selling tickets at 300, the occupancy of seats will be 30 only which means they are getting 9000 rupees only.
But if they reduce ticket price to 100, more people will prefer going to theatres like 90 people will go, they'll earn same 9000 rupees but they earned 3x customers who'll buy f&b as well, the theatre will look crowded too. They can also introduce single screen techniques like they can make front rows cheaper and charge premium for back rows, recliners etc.
I haven't seen any moovi on OTT since 34 years .
I always see the moovi only in the cinema hall or in multiplex

Failure is due to expensive food. We used to go to eat popcorn and see a average movies. With high popcorn price in malls, we prefer act 2 popcorn and OTT on a 75 inch TV
Never had act 2 popcorn. Not only pvr, mall owners also run cinema halls and food prices are very high 200 rs for 2 samosas and 200 rs coffee.
India need affordable cinema halls.

I am holding PVR shares since 2007 missed the opportunity to sell when it reached peak when Tanhaji was released, now am not so optimistic of the turnaround it might take 2 to 3 years that too if big movies does really good business along with smaller content oriented movies else they have to close out lot more Multiplexes, am just looking out for exit as of know
