    It is just so crazy how easily a lot of her fans dropped her after electra heart. But the fans who stayed and grew into 'Froot' REALLY understood her strategy and what she was trying to get across. 'Electra Heart' was such a theatrical and almost superficial album and i think a lot of diamonds understood that this was just an era; That her upcoming music wasn't going to turn into something that sounded like 'Electra Heart.' And Froot was a way of establishing herself as an artist thus creating her immense satisfactory in the era. She finally got her art across in the way that she had always dreamed. And I think that is why I respect her so much. Because she has worked so hard to develop and recreate her art and it happened. It finally and gradually happened and I feel a sense of this "Marina & The Diamonds" trilogy coming to an end. Because NOW she has defined herself as an artist and this upcoming music whenever it arrives is going to be experimental and challenging. I think this next era is going to be VERY different.

      wow you were spot on with that prediction. I do however miss some of the old elements to her music that I thought were lost in L + F. I still think she is an amazing musician, but listening back to the demos of that album and what they turned out to be, I have hope that the next era might incorporate more of her signature style.

    What an incredibly inspiring woman! I've been a fan of Marina for about 2-3 years and I remember her saying (this was very old by the way) that what she was complaining or talking about in her song "Girls" was that while she grew up there weren't many women that she could look up to in the Pop media. I used to feel that way until I discovered her actually! So thank you, Marina! You've become a true role model and a friend to me. Very proud of her.

  • @r3becca13
    @r3becca13 8 лет назад +60

    Marina is such an unique woman. She is absolutely gorgeous, but also her talent, personality, and the way she presents herself is truly inspiring to me. Marina is down to earth. She presents herself, as herself! No pretending to be something she's not, not putting on an act so to speak.
    Her attitude towards life and the way she looks at the world, people can relate. She doesn't try to sugar coat any topic.
    She is a role model for me, and I know everyone that LOVES Miss Diamandis says that, but I mean that from the heart. In today's pop culture and society, there are not a lot of women out there who, personally, I can look up to, who don't try to sell their bodies to be noticed and earn fame and publicity. Even though I don't know Marina personally, I can tell by the way she presents herself, she's natural, easy going, sweet, kind-hearted, and funny, lol. I love that she also doesn't feel like she has to strip down in her shows, or pose in a magazine nude to get people's attention.

    It is so refreshing to see someone who’s more of a slow thinker give a speech and just talk. I feel like people want to hear everything fast but I’m always the type to stop every two seconds to think about what words to use. And in the end when I feel like the person I’m talking to is losing interest I just give a quick answer that I’m not 100% satisfied with and I stop. That’s also one of the reasons I’m more of a listener.

    There's a lack of substance in songs on the radio for sure. It does really get old, and I think alienates people. Teaches them to conform, in a way that takes away their real voice. I commend you for your music, I have just discovered it via Grimes. I am a songwriter, and I find the idea of the creation of a new persona very comforting. I feel too much, so I don't leave a lot. Happy to see someone who inspires me.

    This is truly inspiring. I feel like no matter what marina writes, I will always be able to relate to her and that's why I adore and admire her so much. There are not many artist with minds like marina, she is truly talented and I thank her for that. She has impacted my life in ways she will never know, and watching her talk about her music in depth was very touching just because of how much I have related to her music and I very much relate to her mind as well. and I think that's very important with artists and fans to be able to relate to one another, so I will never be able to put into words how much I appreciate marina and her songwriting.❤️

    She inspires me because she has principles about her work and she doesn't compromise them, she answers questions honestly as opposed to putting on a persona and overtly promoting herself, she is philosophical and recognizes the value of thinking about painful questions that we don't have the answers to, she is smart without being arrogant about it, and she is so attractive but hasn't used an overtly sexual image in her career. It makes me happy that so many people have gravitated toward her despite how she is difficult to categorize, as she put it. I have 58 Marina songs in my library and am eager to add more!

    It's kind of hard because Electra Heart had an element of sadness and cynicism I related to which I really liked because it was satrical but felt honest, songs like teen idle and fear and loathing really helped me. IDK does anyone else feel this way?

      She's one of those singers where the lyrics really reach out to people over the song being catchy/radio worthy. I think she is just extremely relatable with her opinions and frustrations with the world and can put them down on paper easily.

    I used to listen to electra heart and lana del rey songs when i was 15/16 and i love those songs. truly they’re close to my heart but I’m glad that marina as well as other artists (that i love so very much) are growing out of their fucked up romantized teen life era/phase because although (as i said) i love those songs and I long wished for them to return to that music I’ve realized that it not only would be wrong for the arists but also for me. they’ve given me not what i wanted but showed me their journey & growth into something new and those are the rolemodels that i NEED. it would be unhealthy to stay in that phase or mindset all your life and I’m sad that the fandoms of a lot of artists that were once depressed and not in a good place mentally can’t be happy for them and want them to continue to be in misery just because they themselves can’t get out of it.

    As a songwriter myself, it is so heartwarming and encouraging to hear her talk about the need for artists to make and write music on their own, because this is something I want to do in the future. I feel her views on pop music are also very similar to mine, which is great knowing that someone I admire and am inspired by so much, shares the views and understands pop culture in the same way that I do, I only hope anyone reading this, whether you're an artist or not really resonates with the idea of music being organic and personal in the future, as I feel this is where music has been lacking over the past 10 - 15 years

    I just love her ability to overlap critical thought with her work as a pop artist. And this encompasses her songs as well somehow; her lyrics are very poetryish, well thought. She is very charming and arresting to watch, surely

    The last part of the talk reminded me a lot of Sara Bareilles and the reason she wrote "King of Anything". Love 'em both.

    Marina is a brillant artist, I have no words to describe her but a genius. She has a lot of influences which makes her creative way better improved. 54 minutes is not enough to hear her knowledge as well.
