    Been on a pair of these for 2 seasons now and they’re exactly how you described them. You just forget about em. they’ve never given me any problems and they do exactly what you want, when you want them to. In my book that’s a perfect binding. I don’t want to be always thinking about what I can adjust, I just want them to work with me

    I tried the stratas at a brand expo for couple laps and I totally agree with you. They are nice bindings, do what they should but not in a way that would amaze me. Usually, I ride the Union Atlas, which I prefer to the Stratas as they suit better fir more aggressive riding imo

    thx for the honest review man. I bought these last year to pair w my pow board (Ride Wildlife). I’m selling them. Unimpressed and they’re way overpriced in Unions line. I have Contact Pro’s on my park board and they’re much better bindings.
    For anyone looking into these - a few important things to know. 1. the footbed is enormous. Too big. It will hang over both edges...even w a wide board. 2. The toe strap webbing is too narrow...doesn’t grip and hold well over the toes. 3. Toe straps connect to adjustable plastic grooves in base to move forwards or back...they don’t lock in well at all. Union thinks it’s clever. It’s really just over engineered. So your ladder straps will constantly be floating around when you unstrap. Overall, for $280 this binding is a miss by Union w/ some odd design decisions. Was bummed. Replaced w/ the Malavitas which are far superior in every aspect.

    • @ultramo.
      @ultramo. 3 года назад +4

      I have 4 of these and love them. Overpriced? An opinion, but not mine. 1. Foot beds are larger than average due to the perimeter rubber which really improves dampening, I ride med bindings, size 8 Addias Acerra 3st ADV boots, not a problem unless you ride large bindings with narrower boards and narrow stances 2. Toe strap hold is amazing, no problems here. The ankle strap is also superb, comfortable and locks you down 3. No problems with any of my four bindings. The bindings and Union clever? We agree. Over engineered? Disagree, well engineered and integrated, but the heel loop and ankle strap adjustment isn't class leading as Burton top models. Sold all my Malavitas and Cartels and replaced them with Stratas. Malavitas are damp to a fault, the highback webbing not durable and shreds, burton buckles aren't as smooth and the ratcheting not as positive feeling. Cartels are great but not nearly as damp, straps aren't as comfortable or lock you down and again the buckles don't compare. But my gripes about my beloved Stratas are: heel cup paint can chip and they're not as adjustable - ankle strap location, highback rotation, heel cup rotation and extension as Burton. Overall the best bindings I've ever ridden and my go to, super responsive yet surfy, playful, damp, and comfortable, plus they give me extra spring and pop, hard to explain, you must try it to believe it. To each their own. Ride hard, have fun, be nice and run over skiers, J/K, maybe...

    Its about time union updated their binding line, the forces felt like bindings from 15 years ago, not great just up to par with other bindings in that era.
    Nice review, they look dope but, I upgraded from the force to a much better binding: the rome katana, despite the hype I definately feel the katanas are the all mountain quiver binding.

    I was looking at these, the Nitro Team, the Katana, the Arbor Cypress and the Now Pilot. Got to demo the strata 2 weeks ago in mammoth. Glad I did before I bought. That stupid forward lean adjuster twisted on me after a couple hours out of nowhere and froze in the unlocked position and me and 2 friends tried to twist back to lock it down and couldn’t. Every time I would carve on my heel-side, it would pop into a new location. Supper annoying and frustrating. Such a dumb way to adjust. Now I just have to decide between the Nitro Team, the Cypress or the Katana. Wish I could demo them all. Any thoughts on those other 3? I ride a NS Proto 2 wide. Getting older and breaking my back a couple seasons ago; Mostly just rippin all mountain, side hits, back country pow and working on laying out some Euro carvs these days.
