Another '77 firecracker! The Dead loved the SUNY audiences as well as vice versa and they were real good to each other. Factoid: The Dead recorded the theme for the 80s Twilight Zone and Binghamton is the hometown of Rod Serling, creator of the original classic show. Also if you're a newbie Deadhead check out the 05/08/70 Binghamton (Harpur College) show, on the list of all-time greats!
Hey Rob! Yeah that 5/8/70 is Dick's Picks 8, all-timer 🔥 I agree, they always brought the heat to these upstate NY college towns. And yeah there is actually a super-spacey Save Your Face mix of stuff from those Twilight Zone recording sessions, I will get that one posted soon - thanks for reminding me of it!
@@LostMyDayJob Haha. I was so hopeful when he did that. But it had absolutely no effect where I was standing. He even passed down his cup of - I genuinely think, for some reason, it was tea - because I'm sure we all looked like we were withering away (I for one had camped out at the front of the line for 36 hours before the show - again, a total newbie mistake), but it never made it my way. I think I recall someone being passed over the front barrier because, I guess, they were passing out, and I was wishing it was me. 4 hours is a long time to be crushed, and there was absolutely no way out. Yikes. A mixed memory.
Wow yeah that sounds super intense. I always have wondered if "take a step back" actually helped the people up front from getting horribly smashed, I guess not!
@@LostMyDayJob Right. One last thought: After the show, a friend told me what a great time they were having dancing on the floor throughout the show. I was amazed. Up front, I assumed *everyone* in the arena was just as smothered as I was. Next shows I went to, I made sure to avoid the front and had a great time. But I think there were always people up front getting crushed, which is why Weir started the whole step back thing. Anyhow, thanks for posting this excellent show!
Reminds me of my 2nd show... Cornell 1980-05-07 had snuck my 8mm Film Camera in & was in the front row for a little while until the film carts ran out & I retreated to the rear balcony...
Hey Gypsy! Thanks so much for offering - I actually have the missing ones too, but those are all shows that got released officially and therefore get blocked by RUclips. For instance Volume 12, 6/22/73, was released as part of the "Pacific Northwest '73-'74" box set. For some weird reason shows from the Dave's Picks series are allowed to stay up - so far anyway - but anything else tends to get blocked on here 🤷♂️
A BettyBoard! These were prized, pure gold dust! rare and coveted!
Sound on this one is epic my man.
77' was Incredible to say the least, so many Great shows to pick from and this Is one of them shows !💀⚡✌❤🔥🌈🙏

Binghamton is my Ithaca. This was the best St Stephen of 5/77 and that's saying a lot. Thanks 😊
I'm on it. I have low Gen cassettes of every 5/77 show that was in circulation in the Dead tape days. I'm a Morning Dew nut myself. 🤪
This is an often overlooked show, due to all the monster shows in 77' ! Thank you for posting!🔥🌬🌏✌💯♥️

@@LostMyDayJob oops!! 🫢😀 love it all!! I 💚 both channels, have been listening to yours a lot lately. 🥰🥰🥰
My first Dead show. I was standing in the front row - a newbie mistake as I almost got crushed to death. But a great show all the same!
LOL damn! Did Bobby hook you up with some "take a step back" action?
