Hi from Ireland great to see you start on babymetal, everyone is correct live is epic, I am a big babymetal fan have most of their blueray. But really I suggest two from the 2023 pia arena, Monochrome live at pia, road of resistance live at pia. The try some of the 2024 legend mm, bxmxc, and headbanger. The reason for this is that I have seen reactors put of by some early less serious tracks like gimme chocolate and doki doki, although great, they can mislead until you see their more metal flavour which my the way covers nearly all their stuff, enjoy and I look forward to more 😊

Welcome back, great reaction. 'Karate' was the lead single for their second album (2016). Absolutely right, you can enjoy the music, the sound of the vocals and the performance without understanding a word they say. However, if you are curious the song is about fighting adversity, when life knocks you down and everything seems too hard so you're hurt and crying, its about standing up and fighting on, helping each other through the hard times. They used karate to illustrate this because as a Japanese martial art it reflects their culture - that was a very important thing for them as well. As with a lot of their songs it is also about always moving forwards. The figures in white were the girls all along and they were conjuring up their own inner demons to fight against. They beat the first, the second knocked them down but they got up to eventually defeat themselves (did you notice the reflections of each of the girls in their own eyes when the masks shattered and it was revealed as them? Not many people spot that). They did watch a lot of martial arts movies to get ideas for the choreo as they wanted it to look as authentic as possible (but they are not martial artists). Moa catching the fly was a nod to Mr Miyagi in The Karate Kid. Mr Miyagi may have used chop sticks (and it may have taken him two or three films before he caught one), Moa caught her fly with her eyes closed - first time .... and she let it go. We all know Moa wouldn't hurt a fly. This song and video won 2 awards. "Best Metal Video in MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2016" and "Best Metal Song in 6th Annual Loudwire Music Awards". Btw just in case, the band playing behind in this MV are hired actors, probably we said this many times before but they got their own set of musicians when performing live called Kami Band, they're not always the same musicians but currently this year they've been playing with a westerners band unlike early era after 2012 when they had a Japanese band. You can enjoy the live version with the blaster sound of the East Kami Band watching Download Festival 2016 among many others but this one is safe to react. The image of them picking each other up after getting knocked down. Babymetal often has a strong positive up lifting lyrics to their songs. Thanks for this reaction.I think the song was made with the Olympics in mind, so they could showcase what they could do for the Olympics and maybe perform this song at the Olympics in Japan in 2020 (which happened in 2021). Karate was a new sport to be introduced at the Japanese Olympics because of it's Japanese origin. It was planned to be introduced maybe before, but obviously if they Olympics are gonna be in Japan, might as well do it there, much more fitting.
If you get a chance, watch the live performance at Download 2016. They performed this song perfectly in the pouring UK rain. We generally recommend to watch Babymetal's live performance because they shine brightest performing in front of a live audience. However, there are a few songs where the music video is very much worth watching and Karate is one of them.

Great and fun reaction :) So these girls were only I think 15 for the main vocalist (Su-Metal) and 13 for the two dancers (Moametal and Yuimetal, pronounced Moe-wah and You-wee). If you really do plan on following through with more Babymetal, it's always fun to watch reactors go from the beginning and work their way up to the newest stuff, however you don't have to do that. Doing that allows you to watch as they mature and grow however, and it's both interesting and fun to witness it. You'll get to see how they evolved into what they are today. Babymetal is not a normal metal band and that is why there was a lot of hate at the beginning and some even still now. i have been a fan since 2013 and you have to see them live and have to go see them live even in a smaller venue. to be part of the crowd and to see them live is just so good. when they tour the shows are not like the big shows in Japan but they still give 110% in every show. any song you pick will be fine. to me Babymetal does not have filler songs so to me all their songs are good. some i might not like as much as others but i still like them. this song is all about fighting your inner demons and getting back up after being knocked down. most of their lyrics are so good and positive thinking. you will enjoy you r journey with Babymetal.

Babymetal is not a normal metal band and that is why there was a lot of hate at the beginning and some even still now. i have been a fan since 2013 and you have to see them live and have to go see them live even in a smaller venue. to be part of the crowd and to see them live is just so good. when they tour the shows are not like the big shows in Japan but they still give 110% in every show. any song you pick will be fine. to me Babymetal does not have filler songs so to me all their songs are good. some i might not like as much as others but i still like them. this song is all about fighting your inner demons and getting back up after being knocked down. most of their lyrics are so good and positive thinking. you will enjoy you r journey with Babymetal.

At this point, you only need to know a few things: they are very diverse musically since they like to mix any music genre with metal. And they are way better live for multiple reasons, but mainly because of their live band (Kami Band), Su-metal's live vocals, the choreo (different for each song), etc.
