Thanks for this video I've 2 questions. 1)Will Sedan work till Kazaa? 2) Is it possible to drive in own car till Shimla/Manali, park own car their and travel through professional drivers? If so, where can the personal car be parked? thanks
Sure Deepak, 1. Sedan can do Shimla to Kaza 2. There you can park the car in Hotel and take taxi for Chandratal and around, come back to Kaza and take your car to return the same route. Same can be done in Manali too
Aniket, it makes sense because like I said more the days, more the distance evens out. For an itinerary of less than 10 days, the above quote seems OK to me with 6000 per day but still it is always wise to check with 3-4 more dirvers on the list.
thank you for the continuous support Dheeraj. I plan to travel from Chandigarh-Shimla-kinnaur-Tabo-Chandra Taal-Manali-Chandigarh via cab. I have spoken to a couple of contacts from your page. Just wondering if Innova is a real need? we are just family of 3 (2 adults and a kid). can we do in a like Ertiga or Desire without too much risk?
Well it depends on the driver if they are comfortable taking small car up there on Manali to Kaza road. If they are OK then you don’t have to worry, they will manage those sections of the roads which are tricky
Hi Dheeraj, thanks for the informative video. We are planning for a full circuit of Kinnaur-Spiti in October 2023 along with my 4 year son. Will it be fine? Can you please tell me what precaution need to taken care if required. And which will be the better - from Shimla or from Manali? Thanks.
Camping at Chandratal lake is illegal!! It is a ramsar protected site.. you can camp 1 km away from the lake at camping site.. do you need local connection for booking?
Hi dheeraj vai, your vlogs are very helpful to me, really awesome.pls.guid me that we are 6 adults and booked an inova from your driver's list. Is this suitable for 6 adults in this region for full circuit?
When you take a friend’s bike or some else's bike (not your immediate family/same surname), then you should carry a NOC document from them stating that the bike is for private use only, he is the owner of the bike with RC number, and he authorizes you with your DL number to ride the bike personally for this Leh Ladakh trip. This NOC document will be helpful in case someone stops you and objects the case of RC not being under your name. Solving the matter amicably is highly recommended unless you want to go into the struggle and spoil the rest of the vacation and money for the trip. Sample NOC document link: tinyurl.com/5yrjthkr
Hi dheeraj. Love your work and loved how you concentrated on himachal pradesh. By the way can we take scooties for rental? taxis are out of budget for me.
Hi Dheeraj! Been watching your series of Spiti video. It's very informative! One question : would you recommend self driven rental car for Spiti Valley travel? Our group of 4 friends are planning to travel to Spiti Valley at May end and we are planning to rent a car without driver.
Plz check Q16 Are self-drive rental cars allowed in Spiti Valley, where to rent self-drive car for Spiti tour? ruclips.net/video/tMQWYkZVg1I/видео.html
@@discoverwithdheeraj what about good stays, the driver knows or we have to book it pre? any contact recommendation for taxi who knows good stays and places to visit.
Yes you can travel in mArch to Lahaul from Manali but you cannot travel to Spiti from Manali in March. For Spiti you will have to travel via Shimla Kinnaur route
Google maps does not work accurately in the Himalayas. It takes into account traffic and distance but does not know how pathetic the road conditions are at a road, at least up there. It needs to learn from the pattern but that data is limited to only season time when road is open and traffic is less.
I prefer Tso Moriri due to lack of tourists and beautiful landscape on the way to it but for first timers I recommend going to Pangong just to avoid that feeling of missing out
Hi Dheeraj, I am planning to take my parents to Spiti and Zanskar valley in rental car from shimla? Is it a good idea? They are in their 60’s right now. They are in good health just have blood pressure and diabetes.
If you travel slowly from Shimla side and keep the body hydrated follow the tips of AMS and Acclimatization then it shall be all OK But still since they have BP and Diabetes which I assume is under control, please take the final advice from doctor and only after doctor says they are good to travel then only travel
Hi Dheeraj very helpful and informative video, I am planning to visit SPITI during feb mid or mar 1st week, Can I be able to visit Pin Valley and Since it is my first visit to himachal is it worth visiting Spiti during Feb mid end or Mar starting ??

Hello Dheeraj. Your videos has inspired me to take up this trip. I am planning spiti with my husband in June. Would you recommend bike trip for beginners (having no experience on mountains in North) or should we take up taxi trip? Also Please suggest any group for bike trip. Thanks in advance.
Hey, you can plan for a bike ride if you are good in controlling the bike and comfortable riding long distances then you should be able to manage it. Main problem Manali to Kaza road which is like a river bed and people who have riding experience should only ride up there. However a very good and experienced rider should be able to manage on first trip too but if you or your husband isn’t that experienced then plz go for a taxi
Hi Dheeraj... first of all the way u explain is simply awesome... I just wanted to know how much booking private car like a hatchback cost approximately for 2 in leh ladakh... me and my companion don't know how to ride a bike that well...and don't want to experiment and risk...I am planning to go in September end ...leh,Nubra , pang gong so via shyok, so moriri, khardungla is on my list ...
Thank you Akshay! Well, there is no hatchback taxis in Ladakh. You will have to rent an SUV only and it will cost you around 35000-40000 for all above places including pick and drop from airport and some local sightseeing

Hello dheeraj sir.. My husband and I have planned to spiti by local travel (without any tour traveling agency) so that spend more time to remote villages and explore on bike the most.. But the problem is we want camping at chandrataal lake sight. Please suggest any conveyance from kaza to chandrataal lake and where to book camping at Lake and it's cost. Please reply
You can camp only at Chandratal camp sites which is 1 km before the lake where camps are allowed. At the lake, camping is not allowed and is illegal. You can check with Parasol Camps. Apart from self-camping at the camping site, there are temporary camps set up by local Bishan Thakur - Parasol Camps & Retreats at Chandratal and few others. You can contact Bishan of Parasol Camps at 09418845817, 09459910098, Nawang: 09459073908, 01906-200204. You can write to them at parasolcamps@gmail.com, info@parasolcamps.com as well. The camps are more spacious and comfortable. They also have mattresses and quilts. Bishan does have a dining area and covered washrooms if required. You can refer DevilOnWheels or my name to Bishan and he will surely offer whatever best in his capacity
@@discoverwithdheeraj okay.. So pre-booking of camping is not necessary and we can get a camp whenever we visit or 2-3 days before on that given number by you
Hello Dheeraj! We are doing a 6 day trip to Himachal 4 day in Tirthan and 2 days in Sissu. Concerned about the driver esp for Sissu region as we plan to go till Baralacha pass. Please suggest where should we book our taxi from? Is it better to book from Chandigarh or better to find someone from Manali. TIA
Ansh, roads are pretty good all the way there. A chandigarh driver who is experienced in driving in hills is equally good. Otherwise you can ask your hotel folks in Tirthan to arrange a local taxi for you who have done that route and pick you up from Aut tunnel. From Chandigarh to Aut Tunnel you can travel by Volvo.

Dheeraj bhai I am a follower of your blog and vlog since last 2 years. Thank you showering us with so much info. But, I have contacted several drivers from your recommended list. They are mostly charging Rs. 5000 per day for Innova, while you are saying that it would be around Rs. 4000 per day. Please show some light on this. Also, I want to do Spiti from Shimla side and back to Shimla. And I want to do it by Suzuki Dezire or similar to cut budget. What's your opinion on that? Also, recommend any driver of Dezire or similar.
Bhai I talked they told me that rates got just hiked couple of weeks back only. Plus huge rush is also playing a part along with super hiked diesel prices and some have inflated them too due to demand. Innova Crysta is more or less 5000 per day these days while old Innova is Rs 4000 per day. Also depends on if Chandigarh to Chandigarh over 10-11 days they are charging 45000 and Shimla to Manali over 8 days is about 35000
It depends when are you traveling and if driver is ready during that time. Early season when roads are bad from Manali to Kaza usually drivers avoid it. In my list od drivers there is one with a small car, you may contact him.
Hi Dheeraj, I'm planning a himachal trip next month with family. Have been watching your videos and they are very helpful. Will be contacting drivers from your recommended list tmrw. Just wanted to ask a question: Mostly I'll be visiting Shimla, Manali, Kasauli, Manikaran, in the first 6-7 days. But before coming back to delhi, I want to end the trip (1-2 days) with either Rohtang pass or Chandratal lake or Sissu. Which one would be best in your opinion? Can all be covered too? I will start from Manali and want to come back to Manali the same day.
Hi, We will be travlling Spiti in May end ~ June beginning Number of person: 4 adults and 2 kids (10 years and 7 years) Day 1: Shimla to Sarahan (via Narkanda, Hatu peak) Day 2: Rakchham Day 3: Day trip to Chhitkul from Rakchham Day 4: Rakchham to Kalpa Day 5: Kalpa Day 6: Kalpa to Tabo (via Nako and Gue monastery) Day 7: Tabo to Kaza (via Dhankar and Mudd village) Day 8: Ki monastery, Hikkim, Kiber and langza Day 9: Losar Day 10: Manali via Chandratal Day 11: Naggar sightseeing Day 12: leave Manali in the morning and reach Chandigarh Car rate what I receiving is as follows: Innova: 4500/ day Innova Crysta: 5000/ day Is the rate reasonable?
Yes you should be able to get a taxi for local sightseeing very easily.. i think depending on circuit you plan to do, they will charge like 4000-6000 for the day
Manali se Kaza ka road bandh rehta hai dost January mein Spiti ka.. rates k liye plz jo description mein link diya hua hai un drivers se connect karein aap
Hi Dheeraj, this seems to be a very interesting video, but unfortunately I cannot understand the text and there don't seem to be any English subtitles. Is there a transcript anywhere? I am especially looking for information if I should book transportation rather in advance or on the spot in Shimla. And given that I am writing anyway: I was considering to start the trip from Shimla on June 3rd, take roughly 10 days to Keylong and continue north to Leh. How high is the risk the Kunzum pass and the highway to Leh are still closed when I get there? Should I rather start a week later? I unfortunately cannot stay flexible until the last minute because I need to book an international flight.
I am sorry Stefan, I know its hard to follow without subtitles. Its very time consuming on my part to take care of the subtitles and since more than 95% of viewers are Hindi focused, never felt the time/effort spent v/s value it gives in return so stopped provided the subtitles. For Ladakh there is a complete 104 video playlist/travel guide in English. However for rest, I am here to help in comments :) Now coming to your question: You may book the transportation once you arrive in India. There is a link to contact drivers in this video description and Tsering bhai from Kaza may even converse in English as well with you and arrange the taxi for you when you need. So, no very advance booking required. You can just call him or email him to take care of it near your arrival dates. It is good time to start the trip in first week of June, usually the routes are all open by that time including Manali to Leh and Manali to Kaza. However, if you delay by a week the proabability of Manali to Kaza road being open over Kunzum Pass will be much higher and almost certainly it wil be open. Please feel free to leave more questions, I would be happy to help you out here.
@@discoverwithdheeraj Thank you very much! I can imagine that the subtitles are a lot of work and I think I was able to get the key information from your website, it's a very helpful resource for planning this trip. Just to be sure that I understood your message correctly: In my original plan (starting from Shimla on June 3rd and going via Kinnaur to Spiti) I would probably not reach Kunzum Pass before June 12th. Even then you say it's better to delay by a week and get there by June 19th?
Well sorry for the confusion, in the original plan I will say it is more than 95% probability that you should be able to cross Kunzum Pass route and reach Leh via Keylong. So not to confuse you anymore I will say stick to original plan without delaying it. Rarely it is a case when Manali Kaza is not open that late. So you should be good with your original plan
By any chance, are you aware of any agents or taxi fellows, in Manali who are into shared trips to Chandratal / Kunzum la? I did find a tempo traveller who runs Manali to Kaza one way @ Rs 1000. But, can't find one for chandratal on sharing basis.
Hi Dheeraj thank you for this really helpful video! I want to travel to chandratal from kaza and I am a solo traveller. Is there any shared taxi service available for the same from Kaza that ends in Manali?

Just rent it upon reaching there at Manali taxi stand and talking to various drivers up there.. else connect with taxi drivers via phone numbers I have listed in the link present in the video description
Dheeraj Ji, I have been through your website, where you listed cab drivers' names and numbers. Let me give you a reality check. Chandigarh to Chandigarh in a Scorpio is asking 62K for a 10-day Kinnaur-Spiti circuit. Even for Shimla, asking at least 5.5K per day will increase further if one opts for Innova Crysta. Most experienced drivers on the list book trips delegated to their employed drivers, so there is no value for experience here. Maybe you need to update the website with the latest facts.
I hired taxi but they tried me to leave me and my family on high way due to dispute with tour operator over services and payment so please guide what to do in such situations

Sir..is it best to travel through some travel agency? Cost is around 20k-25k for 8 days trip? I'm planning for travel next month but lil bit confuse so need your suggestion
I want to go kaza for 1day from Manali / sissu/ solang valley, with sightseeing of some places like komic, hikkim, Langza, Key, kibber Via atal tunnel and kunzum la (Except chandratal) , and back to keylong next day by evening time, is it possible? How could I hire car just for 2days from manali?
It will take 7-8 hrs at least to reach Kaza from Manali. Then similar time to reach Keylong next day. So squeezing in sightseeing doesn’t seem feasible unless you want to extend these drives and risk the AMS due to fatigue. Also overall am unable to appreciate the idea of such a hectic trip unless that’s the intention of the travel or you are used to such hectic trips.
@@discoverwithdheeraj ok sir, thank you so much, but i need to hire a car from manali, my question is that can i get car for such hectic customized itinerary?
Hi sir, I am also planning Spiti via Manali. I asked for taxi services in Manali, they are asking 45k for Innova for 7 days itenary. These charges include diesel, driver, tolls and permits cost as well. Is it a good package? Or is it too costly? Another question is, is it fine to go to spiti on a bike with 2 persons and luggage? Or it will be too much?
Generally it range from rs 4500-5000 per day for taxi. If you have experience riding on bad roads then do Manali Kaza spiti bike ride else avoid as the road up there could be one you nay never have seen

Hi one of the listed drivers gave quotation of 42k for 7 days. For Innova car. Is it the acceptable rate for now ?
Aniket, it makes sense because like I said more the days, more the distance evens out. For an itinerary of less than 10 days, the above quote seems OK to me with 6000 per day but still it is always wise to check with 3-4 more dirvers on the list.

Hello sir, my question is.. can I bring my friend's bike as own bike ?
When you take a friend’s bike or some else's bike (not your immediate family/same surname), then you should carry a NOC document from them stating that the bike is for private use only, he is the owner of the bike with RC number, and he authorizes you with your DL number to ride the bike personally for this Leh Ladakh trip.
This NOC document will be helpful in case someone stops you and objects the case of RC not being under your name. Solving the matter amicably is highly recommended unless you want to go into the struggle and spoil the rest of the vacation and money for the trip.

Hey dheeraj! I wanted to ask why on google maps is it mentioned that manali to kaza is around 4h 15 min. Is that really so?
Google maps does not work accurately in the Himalayas. It takes into account traffic and distance but does not know how pathetic the road conditions are at a road, at least up there. It needs to learn from the pattern but that data is limited to only season time when road is open and traffic is less.
Tso mori or pangong lake, which is better..I can only visit one place
I prefer Tso Moriri due to lack of tourists and beautiful landscape on the way to it but for first timers I recommend going to Pangong just to avoid that feeling of missing out

So pre-booking of camping is not necessary and we can get a camp whenever we visit or 2-3 days before on that given number by you
It may be tough to find on spot as campsites are limited. I will recommend to prebook these days because rush is too much
Do we need to pay for the food and accommodation for the driver as well?
No, that is covered in the cost but as a general courtesy you should always ask if they are covered for food and stay at the place of overnight stay.

Please suggest where should we book our taxi from? Is it better to book from Chandigarh or better to find someone from Manali.

Also depends on if Chandigarh to Chandigarh over 10-11 days they are charging 45000 and Shimla to Manali over 8 days is about 35000
Thank you. I have got answer of my first question.
If you have time, plz reply to my second question too.
It depends when are you traveling and if driver is ready during that time. Early season when roads are bad from Manali to Kaza usually drivers avoid it. In my list od drivers there is one with a small car, you may contact him.
Dheeraj bhai, I wouldn't go from Kaza to Manali. I would return from kaza via shimla route.
Then any car will do bhai, even a self drive you can take

However for rest, I am here to help in comments :)
Now coming to your question:
You may book the transportation once you arrive in India.
And delaying by a week won't have a negative impact on the weather in Kinnaur I hope?
Well sorry for the confusion, in the original plan I will say it is more than 95% probability that you should be able to cross Kunzum Pass route and reach Leh via Keylong. So not to confuse you anymore I will say stick to original plan without delaying it. Rarely it is a case when Manali Kaza is not open that late. So you should be good with your original plan
As I said in other comment, don’t delay it. Follow your original plan. And happy new year..

Sure Souvik, I will update the website with updated numbers..

Yes you should get that
Hi sir,
I am also planning Spiti via Manali.
Call the drivers listed here in the article devilonwheels.com/list-of-taxi-drivers-for-spiti-valley-kinnaur-valley/amp/
@@discoverwithdheeraj Sure Sir, but what should be the reasonable price for this much pack?
And also what about 2nd question?
Generally it range from rs 4500-5000 per day for taxi. If you have experience riding on bad roads then do Manali Kaza spiti bike ride else avoid as the road up there could be one you nay never have seen
@@discoverwithdheeraj 4 to 5k is with fuel?
Yes, 4500-5000 per day including everything
Travel agent also make group departuted in 14000 for 9days
