Crochet Arrow Stitch Lap Blanket

  • If you are looking for complicated 'looking' but actually simplistic to crochet, check out the Crochet Textured Lap Blanket.
    This crochet blanket has been designed for those who are looking for just their laps to be covered. This means for those in wheel chairs or scooters, you may want to consider this size of blanket. In the tutorial, I reveal the stitch multiples in order to change the size of the blanket. So you could actually use this pattern for full size bed spreads, sofa throws and much more.
    This blanket has full texture on the right side (front side) and is flat on the back side. The texture allows double thickness to automatically occur for those extra cozy opportunities you may want to discover.

    This is amazing! This is actually my first blanket and I have to say I jumped in head first and chained 160 and I am now on the second row and moving like lightening! You made this so simple. I could not read diagrams or written instructions and I have never crocheted anything other than a square potholder. Lol wonderful instructors! Thank you so much!

    I love patterns that have an illustration of the stitches. I am a highly skilled knitter and now learning various crochet stitches, so trying to make sense of the written instructions without the illustration can make it quite a challenge to learn and understand.
    So, having the video with demonstration of the instructions is wonderful

    Hi Mikey
    How many 1 pound yarns will I need?

    • @noahlani1969
      @noahlani1969 4 года назад +1

      It depends on the size of your hook, yarn weight and your gauge. For an afghan of 48"×52", you will need 4 pounds of Red Heart super saver in the color of your choice. Worsted yarn 4, hook 5mm or H.
      You can fins a similar pattern in the Leisure Art book: crochet afghan by the pound by Rita Weiss. Good luck.

    Ok, I am on row three and right after the first treble you do, I am already lost. Isn't it supposed to lean like half an arrow? Mine is standing straight up. I thought this was also supposed to be an easy pattern to follow. It is not if one cannot follow you!

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  2 года назад

      If you refer to the diagram that's provided in the video description, there may visuals that can help you with that. The levels of crochet are dictated by a level of standard of how much effort is required. It's technically easy level but I think like you are alluding to, getting to that moment where everything makes sense is a a journey but once it hits, you should be good. I would recommend the diagram.

    This is a beautiful pattern. Absolutely gorgeous. But I couldn't concentrate on it until I wrote this.
    It is my hope that you've updated your language and understanding since 2017, but just in case you haven't:
    Please do not use the term *"confined to a wheelchair."*
    "Wheelchair users" or even "people who need wheelchairs" would be much better. I am an amputee. I lost my left leg to bone cancer. I do have a prosthesis and I am learning to walk in it, but in all likelihood, I will require the use of a wheelchair to some degree for the rest of my life. When you use the word *"confined"* you perpetuate the stereotype that all wheelchair users are permanently disabled and totally unable to get out of them on their own.
    That mindset limits our access and often endangers us; it can become dangerous for us when people think they are "catching" someone "faking" a disability, or refuse accessible service to us, or call into question our private medical matters in public. Not all wheelchair users are the same. Some of us can walk, some of us have no visible disability whatsoever, some of us dance and ride the rides at amusement parks.
    I'm sure you meant to give no offense whatsoever, but words do matter. Your words matter.

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  2 года назад +1

      Thank you Ashley for your thoughtful response. I have learned not to address specifically anything in this degree in the tutorial work as I am learning as I am going along. Times and sensitivities are changing so quickly in social media.
      I am trying to avoid the terms of he and she or boy or girl as its offending certain populations of this community as well. It's better to say child and adult and let the community determine who the project is for. That's for me to solve by not calling something a specific gender.
      You have my word, I won't be using the terminology as you mentioned. I probably am not the right tutorial host for you Ashley. I make mistakes and I offend people everyday. It's not your problem but I face off with being openly gay and receive threats about it. It's my issue to fix and the only way to fix my issue is to disappear and just go back to a normal job that doesn't involve online. However, I enjoy it as most people are fine with who I am but each day, there's a struggle. Some days, it's a bit much.
      I didn't mean to offend you or anyone that is using a wheelchair. I don't automatically assume people in wheelchairs are faking.
