Best Styx album and I think this is the best song on it. This came out when I was in 8th grade, I still have the album along with some really great memories...♡

I had the pleasure of Jim roads working with my band when I was still in the game. One of America’s top rock-n-roll bands of all time.
Such a lovely haunting song. I keep forgetting about it despite it being so good, but then again all of their songs are great so it's hard to keep track. By the way, highly recommend Don't Let it End, Mr. Roboto, Grand Illusion, Blue Collar Man, and Lady.
I was introduced to Styx while I was in the Air Force back in 1976 and saw them in concert at least twice every year!!! Castle Walls is one of my favorite songs Ever the drum part in the middle of the song is FANTASTIC! THE DRUMS were a WALL of Plastic drums thats why it sounds kind of hollow and as Mr. Panozzo played that section the sound of the drums went around the whole Forum in Los Angeles it was A Night I Remember So Clearly, thats how much and Great Styx were! The REAL STYX!!! They Should Tour Together again, it's not Styx without Dennis DeYoung!!! They have so many songs that have such AWESOME lyrics even my wife enjoys them and that's saying A LOT!!!! Also check their song "SuperStar" Clearly My Favorite Band And Definitely Belongs in the "ROCK HALL OF FAME" without question!!!
India-I have noticed that you have been doing these reactions for a couple of years now. What gets me is that the more you listen to the amazing music of the late 60s, 70s and early 80s you still seem so surprised at how much depth the music and lyrics have. Most of the music of these times were mindblowing. Listen to Prophet's Song by Queen or Miracles out of Nowhere or even watch the making of Bohemian Rhapsody. This music was made without any of the tools today's artists have. It probably is why we think their music is substandard to what we were blessed with. They lack imagination.
In Greek mythology, Tiresias (/taɪˈriːsiəs/; Greek: Τειρεσίας, Teiresias) was a blind prophet of Apollo in Thebes, famous for clairvoyance and for being transformed into a woman for seven years. He was the son of the shepherd Everes and the nymph Chariclo.
This solo is my ringtone on my phone. I LOVE it so much. When solicitors call, I usually let it ring until it goes to voicemail just so I can listen to this song.
I saw your reaction some time ago. I'll give you a little of my interpretation of the meaning of this song. Dennis never liked being away from his family at home, and out on tour. He was safe at home behind his castle walls from the choas and fray that is the music business and society. However, the minstrel in him kept calling and haunting him, and he knew that eventually he'd have to go back out on the road and meet his destiny. I'd suggest next for you to check out: "Man In The Wilderness", "Lady", "Fooling Yourself"(with CYO), "Prelude 12/Suite: Madame Blue", "Crystal Ball", "Claire De Lune/Ballerina", "Blue Collar Man", "Lorelei", "Pieces Of Eight", "Boat On The RIver", "Show Me The Way", and "Snowblind".
Enjoying your reactions. Would love you to react to the studio version of Queen’s ‘You take my breath away’ such a beautiful song that I think you will love x
Dennis DeYoung is the genius behind this song. He plays the keyboard/synthesizer in the band. Or I should say he did. He is now own his own with his own band. But still plays the STYX songs. Especially the ones he wrote...which is this one. Wonderful voice and a unique one at that. Listen to more songs like: Come Sail Away, Mr. Roboto, Babe, Queen of Spades, Best of Times, Don't Let It End, Grand Illusion, etc.
I'm 62, I was 18 when this came out. You wouldn't believe amount of LSD I use to take listening to this album. Been a musician since I was 10 years old. Used to play this a lot. Check out "Fooling Yourself ( the angry young man)" same CD. Your face says it all ! Great vid!
This was a concept Lp. It was released on 07/07/1977. And it was Styx's 7th studio album. And their most successful selling album to date. Though personally, I prefer Styx's *Pieces Of Eight* Lp. But that's just me...🎶🎸🎙️

India if this blows your mind as to song structure and musicianship, listen to Kansas from any of their eras, but especially the first 5 albums. Incredible musicianship, song writing and deep meanings to the songs.
The thing about Styx is that their biggest hits were rarer their best songs (with the exception of Renegade). Forget the top 40 with this band and listen to the fans.
Yea if this song comes on and you have dozed-off with headphones on you will wake up when the breathing starts! The scariest song ever with headphones to scare you if you've fallen asleep is Brenda Lee - Sweet Nothings. Dear Lord! PS. Queens Album A Night At The Opera was in 1975. Opera has different movements. 77 is when Grand Illusion came out using the same style as Bohemian Rhapsody many bands followed the trend started by The Beatles in 1971 (Wings) I think with the song... Uncle Albert. A huge hit!
So I've seen several of your reaction vids now, I loved you grooving to the Monkeys, and I would like you to try the only Country Accapella group out there... and that would be Home Free Vocal Band. They cover a lot of songs better than the original artists (some of whom you've reacted to) and have some great original music as well. They do country and other genre's as well, but still with a bit of country flair showing through. They have an incredible blend of voices, a beatboxer who is practically inhuman, and a bass with more than 5 octave range. Please check out Home Free's original song Whats the World Coming To, and then perhaps their cover of some other songs..such as Boyz II Men's End of the Road....and if you've an open mind and want something funny try their Butts Remix or Country Fried Pop Medley.
