@@wealthadventures I'm sorry just as a follow up...I called JP Morgan and they DO NOT currently have any ELNs to CS. And likely not going to have any in the near future. Some of that info is stale. thanks Richie
I like JEPI and JEPQ. Thinking about IDVO for some international exposure. Difficult to go with anything paying 5% when I can get almost as much in mm/treasury funds with 0 risk.
Still holding off on Jepq for the moment. Need to see more before I throw my money into it. I have divo and Jepi right now even though I’m a little concerned with the Jepi distribution trending down the last three months.
I like these and have these ETFs. But, I also augment them with selling naked puts, with some strike price that will not be assigned, using my non-margin buying power. That usually augments the return with another about 3%
@@wealthadventures That's funny 😁 I should have specified. I sell naked puts on QQQ, like March 15, 2024 $220 contracts. That's the power of my margin. Will it hit? I don't think so!
Hi. Just depends on your objectives. I'm in the top tax bracket but I still buy some of these routinely (JEPI, JEPQ, DIVO) in a taxable account. Certainly not tax efficient but I do like having some of that monthly income. Plus I like that they lower the BETA of my portfolio overall. You should outperform these income ETFs in the long run in some solid growth ETFs especially in a taxable account. If you don't need the income, probably better to avoid receiving the dividends/distributions.
Good morning, I hope you don't mind that this question is a bit off-topic. New to options so a basic question lol. If I am selling a put for expiration the following Friday, does it matter as far as the premium if I buy it on Friday or on Monday?
Just from a time value standpoint, it should not be a large factor. However, lots can happen over a weekend that can change market volatility. That change could be a benefit or detriment to your trade.
"Value" has been on the decline since early February. SCHD, VYM, VTV, HDV, and SPYD have all taken a hit. Not a Schwab problem IMO. I have a PUT at 71 on SCHD. If the shares get assigned they go in the vault.
Hi Dave, another good charting on your part. Thanks. Hey, I looked at the JEPI holdings and they’re all S&P 500 companies. So, I assume that JEPI’s high dividends are a matter of how well the two managers are at selling options? The portfolio is only going to deliver X amount of dividends so the rest is what I assume. Do they sell covered puts as well? If yes, that would entail a timing of the market which can’t be done. I’m curious as to what scenario would negatively affect the dividend? On the low side, from what I can see and bast on the last quarter, the yield would be just over 9%. Nothing to sneeze at. 🙋♂️Cheers!
JEPI is a covered call ETF. They are selling OTM calls to generate premium within ELNs. It will limit the upside but generate that large distribution. Good for markets that are trading sideways, slightly up, or slightly down.
I own all 4 of these ETFs and have generally been happy with the results. However, JEPI has lowered the dividend noticeably and now Seeking Alpha has downgraded it to a “sell.” JEPQ’s yield has also started to drop. Can you repeat this analysis (4 months later) and update the results?
Hi. I can take another look. JEPI/JEPQ are suffering a bit from the low volatility environment we have at the moment. Not a reason to sell in my opinion. The higher yield will follow higher volatility.
I plan on covering them along with some other alternatives but I don't think it will be part of this series. Are you looking at anything in particular?
@@wealthadventures I'm putting together an m1 pie with all these. I just picked the top 5-10 of each and built my own mini high yield etf. Total yield is close to 12%
Just bought Jepi today. Here we gooooooo...
Looking forward to the IDVO review…. Thanks
Watched and liked. Love this series you’ve doing Dave! Have Jepi and Jepq in my portfolio..on the fence with Divo
Thanks! Appreciate the feedback.
I have JEPI and DIVO. Math doesn't lie, DIVO has outperformed since I started with these.
They have done a solid job!
Great job as always. We are so similar i own JEPI/Q and DIVO and run similar strategies on my own dividend portfolio as well.
Morning. Looks like JEPI has some ELNs with Credit Suisse out till May 6. Something to watch!
@@wealthadventures Actually that might be stale info...kind of hard to find the most current ELNs sometimes.

So true.
Thanks Dave! Great content as usual. What's the website you use to research the ETFs?
I've been using Seeking Alpha. There is a link down in the description and they have a free version if you just want to check it out.
All but IDVO are in my portfolio. I'd like the idea of international exposure; but those international stock never seem to do as well as US stocks.
True... but lots of people are thinking international is the way to go looking forward.
@@wealthadventures I heard about that too..

JEPI targets a 8% distribution, so set your expectations to that. The high volatility has increased the distribution for now.
Yes. I think the distribution rate will come down but lots of volatility at the moment.
I am staying in bonds but will buy these after a market correction.
May look at something with more upside after a correction.

Covered call on a covered call.🤣

I use Yahoo for charts, but what are you using? I need the "total return" vs price. I have no idea why Yahoo finance can't do that...
DIVO seems redundant for income in an environment where tbills and mmas pay 4.7-5%. Still getting slaughtered by inflation…
The fund has performed well looking at total return. A little bit of income and a little growth.
JEPI and chill.
What do you like for a taxable account for a high taxed investor? Thank you.

JEPI in a HSA account? And tax implications?
Hi. Not a tax advisor but interest and income in an HSA should grow tax free so JEPI distributions should grow tax free.👍

What's going on with SCHD ? It's tanking day after day. Heard some news that says Charles Schwab has more stressed assets than SVB
