What's your favorite way to de-stress?
I've found that box breathing really helps me. Inhale for 5 seconds, hold for 5 seconds, exhale for 5 seconds, hold for 5 seconds. Repeat that for as long as I need to calm down. Apparently they do it in the military, works great.
I like to meditate, and i meditate for longer times like 15m sometimes, other times i may opt for 30 or 40. It definitely helps me regulate and stay to a relatively neutral state
To take a walk, a long walk (about an hour, maybe more) by a neighborhood full of trees.
I walk mostly, to get the stress out. Also listening to music and cuddling my kitties helps a lot
Rumble out needs to be added to the book of Davidisms haha! Great video dude! I think we all have these struggles as creatives. What I find helps me is stop scrolling on social media. Too much time on IG can easily make me spiral. Looking forward to seeing your next video :D
just what i need, Thank you,
There are times when the motivation to draw is completely gone by thinking about making it perfect and sharing it on social media, and yeah exercise helps a lot
I struggle a lot with art and have developed a lot of fears and anxious sensations even around art itself, like materials and concepts, and am trying to work on all of these things in therapy. This issue feels like there are not a lot of people that relate to it, but regardless ive been working toward facing a lot of these fears directly through exposure.
I relate to this a lot. I used to think I was in a perpetual art block and I wasn't improving, but I recently realized it's me being anxious I'm not good enough and I'll never reach my goals. I'm glad I'm not alone because most art block tips don't really help me. I'll definitely talk about in this therapy because I think it's worth mentioning, thank you for sharing your experience!
Meditating works usually for me when I need to lower my anxiety level quickly. Getting out of my head and thoughts essentially.
@@Paintable yeah! I can try to surround my exposure sessions to art fears with meditation a bit more, it may help regulate faster! Good call, I’ll try that
@@joopsa3780 yeah, it could be more a mental health thing! Definitely check up on that, and I’m down to hear more about it once you find out! You could share it here once you find out if you want
@@MV. will do!
(Side note, I checked out your art, it's so gorgeous!)
Time with my doggies like a 10 mins cuddle or a 10 min walk with them… there’s something about observing them living in the now… No yesterday or tomorrow worries in their little brains…. This brings me to my centre and helps me get going as my lack of creativity is normally due to a strong tendency towards procrastination
I like such type of video, you show in a very funny way what it means to be an artistic person!)) Thanks for your sincerity! Walk, yoga, dancing, singing, talking out loud with myself with a humor helps a lot to me. I try even to dance in my mind while I'm drawing and draw with the music very often
Thank you, Maria. I agree, drawing to music is great'
I got up today with the thought of keeping true to a goal I’ve set upon myself…which to draw every day. Long story short I was really anxious about how tide piece would turn out; i guess you could say I was I was thinking will be able to draw everyday, will I run out of ideas, will it even be a good art piece, etc. I ended up taking a break and now I’m here on my phone bcuz I thought I’d listened to some of your videos for advice and funnily enough the first video I saw was about anxiety. I think I take that walk you talked about.
Hope you enjoyed your walk. 🙂 Have you seen the Daily 5 Challenge we're doing on Instagram & Discord? It's perfect if you want to draw daily but don't want to get overwhelmed.

I can relate to the anxiety with AI art so much. And sports and walking usually are my way to relax! it's very important to not hyperfixate on painting many hours a day without breaks, so this vdeo will be helpful to many!
It's usually the case with every new technology. It's mostly a question of adaptation, I think. 🤔
I deal with anxiety by doodling, exercising and playing video games
I'm not a full time artist so I de-stress (usually) by painting! I'm glad this video mentioned exercise. Work out first thing in the morning is one of the best ways for me to feel like engaging with work, art, family, the world. As a Christian, praying out loud to consciously surface my anxieties gives me strength. Regardless if you believe in religion, the principle of identifying, and not hiding from, or ignoring, your fears is useful. I used to stress about producing art to keep up with other artists. Things got a lot better when I stopped that and focused on just making a bit of progress every day.
I agree comparing yourself to others is counterproductive. But it's one of those things that, for a lot of people, is a constant struggle. I'm not gonna lie, I still do it from time to time 😬
Great video David! I also has stress issues and trying to cope with them. Btw have thought of doing more vlog like videos. At least for me it would be extremely interesting to see how a freelance artist leaves in Thailand 😊
I'm still trying it out. Doing vlog videos is completely out of my comfort zone, but I'll try to do more of it in the next few months. I'm still building my studio at the moment. It should be fully equipped in about 1 month 🙌😀
I hum and watch videos. I also take my task and start little by little.
Thanks for sharing. Watching videos while painting isn't an option for me. I get too focused on the videos 😅
This is very nice since it is not a video on how to improve, on how to make more, how to be faster. Those aspects of creating illustrations are eating me alive a bit lately and I just dont create as much since I feel I have to do it for the social media content algorithmsmsjsh pleaser.
I KNOW RIGHT!! We forget ourselves sometimes in the pursuit of content algorithm changes. I'm hoping you are part of the Tribe community on Discord. No algorithm needs to be satisfied there 😀
Very nice... Remember to breathe 😅👍🏾
regardless of the subject I have a macbook m1 laptop and I am looking for a compatible graphics tablet, do you have any good suggestions?
