out of all EXO-MVs I've seen so far, this has probably been my favourite! I don't think any of their MVs has had such an visual impact on me so far.. off the top of my head Lay's solo Lit comes to mind maybe?But I wouldn't necessarily coun't that as EXO MV, since it's a solo.. Apart from that I can't remember another of their MVs (out of what I've seen so far) managing to be so intriguing! The set-design and styling are absolute top-tier and make the MV seem both retro AND macigal - and that combo surprisingly WORKS 🔥 I gotta say I REALLY enjoyed how they went all out on making the visuals memorable and cohesive in it's micro-cosmos worldbuilding! Especially these Baekhyun solo scenes.. I would LOVE seeing more of that concept!✨

Xiumin is a jack- of-all-trades. He can do everything greatly. Actually, he's a lead vocalist, lead dancer and sub-rapper . Exo's ace and all-rounder . FYI, Xiumin can reach the highest falsetto note in Exo.
Fun fact: According to Baekhyun(if i remember it right), their sub-unit was formed because the three of them have the same height and their personal trainer suggested that they form a sub-unit and luckily SM accepted the idea and boom an 'ace' sub-unit a.k.a. chenbaekxi was formed.

Actually Xiumin is EXO sub rapper, he was one of the rappers in EXO-M, then Baekhyun learned to rap, Chanyeol teached him, then now Baekhyun is an amazing rapper too, you need to listen their others songs, also their live performances, they are amazing rappers and Chen has potential as rapper too... That's why they are called as "all rounder kings" they can to do everything, every of them can to rap too and almost the whole group are official rappers as Chanyeol, Sehun, Kai, Lay, Xiumin and Baekhyun... Every of their songs are amazing, I also recommend so much their songs specially Horololo and Blooming Days, Kaching and The One, but my favorites are Horololo and Blooming Days... CBX is the funky, fun, upbeat sub-unit. SC is the cool, chill, vibing subunit. They balance each other nicely! Hey Mama is a super fun song, and LOVE the looks in the MV. The shots in the beginning were my favorite parts of the MV as well, although I never knew why. Thanks for explaining everything. And it's ok to pause your video whenever you want to. If people get salty in the comments, that is entirely their own problem. We are all here to watch your REACTION to the MV and the song. I would much rather people pause and talk versus trying to talk while the MV is playing and missing stuff. Kill your exams!

As with everything EXO does, including their solo work and sub-units, the stories in their MVs are all connected to EXO's larger storyline. So, the story in EXO-CBX's "Hey Mama" MV is telling another piece of EXO's story. If you remember, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from Planet Exo, who have been sent to Earth on a mission to find and protect the Tree of Life from the Red Force, and while doing this they are also trying to fix all the things that are going wrong in the world, which is thought to be caused by the Red Force. So, in "Hey Mama," the widely accepted theory is that the Red Force has infiltrated the news media and they are controlling humanity through the news that is being broadcast on TV. The members of CBX have gone undercover to try and stop the Red Force. If you pay attention to how the people act when red colored objects are being used you will see that they act like they are in a trance or being controlled by something. For instance, the paper the newscaster reads from is red and the drinks the people are drinking in the conference room are red. And, if you notice, everyone, including CBX, is acting like robots or zombies -- as if they are in an trance -- when red is involved. But as soon as Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin get rid of the red paper and the red drinks, etc. the people start to come to life and act more normal. There is a lot more to this video, but that's just a small part of it. But one of the easiest, and most central, themes in all of EXO's MVs and everything they do, is the use of red. When you see the color red or red light this is used to symbolize something to do with the Red Force and it often shows how the Red Force is the ones that are in control of whatever is covered in red at that moment. As you can see, not only is EXO's story based on fantasy and sci-fi concepts, but it is partially based on real societal issues and events and topics that SM wants to shine a light on. When you really think about it, a lot of EXO's story is a social commentary on the problems and issues that we as humans are dealing with in real life -- such as environmental issues, war, technology, media (LOL "fake news"), etc. Also pay attention to the use of flowers when it comes to EXO. In this MV you see Baekhyun dropping flower petals down on Chen and they collect bunches of flowers and you see them burning them in the fire, etc. Although we are not positive what the real effect flowers have in EXO's story yet, in "Hey Mama" it seems as though the flowers help to bring them out of the trance that the Red Force is trying to trap them in. You will see instances of EXO using flowers in all different ways across a majority of their MVs and it's all tied to their storyline. If you want to see how the story continues, you should check out EXO-CBX's Japanese song, "Horololo." I think the story in "Hey Mama" is connected to the story in "Horololo." In "Horololo" many people think that CBX are private investigators or detectives, and I agree, that could be their job. However, I like to think maybe they are investigative journalists, which would help explain how "Hey Mama" and "Horololo" are intertwined. Journalists have a lot of similarities to private detectives, especially during the 1950s, '60s. '70s '80s era. which both "Hey Mama" and "Horololo" MVs seem to be themed around.This also makes sense if you subscribe to the theory that there are alternate dimensions and maybe the members of EXO are even traveling through different time periods throughout history, etc. As you can see, if you really pay attention, you can see how everything the members do is connected. The difficult thing is that almost nothing is in chronological order so in order to piece it together we fans have to become detectives and pay attention to even the most minute of details. When it comes to EXO, absolutely everything down to the smallest detail is done for a very specific reason and it's all designed to give hidden messages and meaning and to help tell another piece of EXO's story. So even the most expert of fans who have really analysed every detail with everything that EXO does, is still probably missing certain clues. You actually can never really over think anything in EXO's MVs, because if you think something means something, it probably does. There is never only one message being given in the story either, and it's never simple, so it's easy to miss things. EXO-CBX is a sub-unit of EXO, made up of 3 of EXO's main/lead vocalists -- Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin, hence the name CBX. (Xiumin has always been known as a lead rapper in EXO-M, so CBX just allows him to show off his rap skills. But Baekhyun -- and sometimes Chen -- also becomes a rapper when they are a member of CBX which is different than what we normally get to hear from them as a member of EXO.) CBX was formed because at the time Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin were the only members who didn't have any side projects. They were all in the gym working out together discussing what they should do while everyone else was working on other things, and their trainer suggested they form a sub-unit. So they took the idea to the company and SM agreed that they would make a good unit. Plus, CBX gives SM a chance to bring EXO more fully into the Japanese market. CBX focuses on the Korean and Japanese market. CBX releases Japanese songs and albums. They are one of SM's most popular sub-units and they are so popular that they have held their own concert tour with just their sub-unit. Also, fun fact: Did you notice how they had 6 backup dancers? With CBX there are always 6 backup dancers because 9 is a good number when it comes to formations in choreography, but fans think it's also supposed to mirror the fact that as members of EXO, even as a sub-unit they are still part of the main group. EXO's main group has 9 members so, the 6 backup dancers are supposed to be a visual representation of the rest of the members of EXO. EXO-CBX was EXO's first sub-sub-unit and some think that SM wanted to create a way to make it clear that just because they are a sub-unit doesn't mean that they aren't still connected to everything that makes them EXO.

As far as Drop That - trust me, this is one of those songs that's better seen in a live performance first, imho (you can find out what others think on that matter though😊). I'm aware that you like to see the MV or the studio versions first before viewing the live versions, So if you still want to do that for this song, I would highly recommend NOT viewing a color coded video that shows which member does what part, so you can get the surprise when you watch the live performance 😃.

HOROLOLO, Blooming day, Ka-Ching are some of other songs of this unit I listen very often. How I wish this sub-unit make a comeback. But if at all it will not before 2023. Hey bestie! As i remeber, Hey Mama is their debut song (already offficialy as EXO CBX), it is no coincidence that this is another song called MAMA. Again, if I remember correctly Baekhyun said in one interview that hey mama is reunited with MAMA (EXO debut). The first MAMA was a song with respect to king (because it was their debut, everything was new), and Hey Mama is that simple, funny vibe song because they've been on stage for so many years and they're making their debut again.

CBX is so fun in my opinion, by the time you will check them out more you will know( for example the clip-the one from them), anyways about the c in CBX there is a joke that's going on in the fandom that chanyeol always want to be part of CBX so when you said that sub unit is baekhyun xiumin and chanyeol i couldn't stop myself from laughing hard 😂😂😂 it was cute and chanyeol would agree with you about it😂😂 but yeah chen is amazing vin this sub unit he really shining in there, and xiumin i need to tell you that he can do everything in exo but he is not the main in all positions, he can dance well he can really sing and you will hear it in the sub unit more he got an unique vocal tone and that's why i can recognise him in each song, he sings the most in head or mixed voice but when he is coming to his lower tones he sounds really different and it's so versatile when ever you are hearing him singing, about his rapping he is the main rapper in the sub unit but in exo he is not the main so he raps sometimes but it doesn't mean that he is not good in that because i can tell you he is really talented but because exo got a lot of member he doesn't have always the place to shine in there (though in the last comeback he got some lines and i felt him shine more), and baekhyun was a suprise that he raps to in this sub unite, he really showcases more sides of him and it's so beautiful (for example in horololo from CBX) and he is so talented and funny in the sub unit and also he is showcasing his dance skills though he is not in the dance line at all he can learn really quickly

We can appreciate this in songs as Cry For Love from his Bambi album, also in his Japanese album "BAEKHYUN" specially in his song "Drown", and in some songs too... Actually Baekhyun and Xiumin are the main rappers in this sub unit, Chen and Baekhyun are the main vocalists, Xiumin lead vocalist, then Xiumin and Baekhyun are the main dancers, Baekhyun is also the center and visual, then Xiumin is the leader. Every of their songs are amazing, I also recommend so much their songs specially Horololo and Blooming Days, Kaching and The One, but my favorites are Horololo and Blooming Days... This is my favorite sub unit, I hope more reactions to them, they are truly amazing 😍

CBX is the funky, fun, upbeat sub-unit. SC is the cool, chill, vibing subunit. They balance each other nicely! Hey Mama is a super fun song, and LOVE the looks in the MV. The shots in the beginning were my favorite parts of the MV as well, although I never knew why. Thanks for explaining everything. And it's ok to pause your video whenever you want to. If people get salty in the comments, that is entirely their own problem. We are all here to watch your REACTION to the MV and the song. As with everything EXO does, including their solo work and sub-units, the stories in their MVs are all connected to EXO's larger storyline. So, the story in EXO-CBX's "Hey Mama" MV is telling another piece of EXO's story.
If you remember, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from Planet Exo, who have been sent to Earth on a mission to find and protect the Tree of Life from the Red Force, and while doing this they are also trying to fix all the things that are going wrong in the world, which is thought to be caused by the Red Force. So, in "Hey Mama," the widely accepted theory is that the Red Force has infiltrated the news media and they are controlling humanity through the news that is being broadcast on TV. The members of CBX have gone undercover to try and stop the Red Force.
If you pay attention to how the people act when red colored objects are being used you will see that they act like they are in a trance or being controlled by something. For instance, the paper the newscaster reads from is red and the drinks the people are drinking in the conference room are red. And, if you notice, everyone, including CBX, is acting like robots or zombies -- as if they are in an trance -- when red is involved. But as soon as Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin get rid of the red paper and the red drinks, etc. the people start to come to life and act more normal. There is a lot more to this video, but that's just a small part of it.
But one of the easiest, and most central, themes in all of EXO's MVs and everything they do, is the use of red. When you see the color red or red light this is used to symbolize something to do with the Red Force and it often shows how the Red Force is the ones that are in control of whatever is covered in red at that moment.
As you can see, not only is EXO's story based on fantasy and sci-fi concepts, but it is partially based on real societal issues and events and topics that SM wants to shine a light on. When you really think about it, a lot of EXO's story is a social commentary on the problems and issues that we as humans are dealing with in real life -- such as environmental issues, war, technology, media (LOL "fake news"), etc.
Also pay attention to the use of flowers when it comes to EXO. In this MV you see Baekhyun dropping flower petals down on Chen and they collect bunches of flowers and you see them burning them in the fire, etc. Although we are not positive what the real effect flowers have in EXO's story yet, in "Hey Mama" it seems as though the flowers help to bring them out of the trance that the Red Force is trying to trap them in. You will see instances of EXO using flowers in all different ways across a majority of their MVs and it's all tied to their storyline.
If you want to see how the story continues, you should check out EXO-CBX's Japanese song, "Horololo." I think the story in "Hey Mama" is connected to the story in "Horololo." In "Horololo" many people think that CBX are private investigators or detectives, and I agree, that could be their job. However, I like to think maybe they are investigative journalists, which would help explain how "Hey Mama" and "Horololo" are intertwined. Journalists have a lot of similarities to private detectives, especially during the 1950s, '60s. '70s '80s era. which both "Hey Mama" and "Horololo" MVs seem to be themed around.This also makes sense if you subscribe to the theory that there are alternate dimensions and maybe the members of EXO are even traveling through different time periods throughout history, etc.
As you can see, if you really pay attention, you can see how everything the members do is connected. The difficult thing is that almost nothing is in chronological order so in order to piece it together we fans have to become detectives and pay attention to even the most minute of details.
When it comes to EXO, absolutely everything down to the smallest detail is done for a very specific reason and it's all designed to give hidden messages and meaning and to help tell another piece of EXO's story. So even the most expert of fans who have really analysed every detail with everything that EXO does, is still probably missing certain clues. You actually can never really over think anything in EXO's MVs, because if you think something means something, it probably does. There is never only one message being given in the story either, and it's never simple, so it's easy to miss things.
EXO-CBX is a sub-unit of EXO, made up of 3 of EXO's main/lead vocalists -- Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin, hence the name CBX. (Xiumin has always been known as a lead rapper in EXO-M, so CBX just allows him to show off his rap skills. But Baekhyun -- and sometimes Chen -- also becomes a rapper when they are a member of CBX which is different than what we normally get to hear from them as a member of EXO.)
CBX was formed because at the time Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin were the only members who didn't have any side projects. They were all in the gym working out together discussing what they should do while everyone else was working on other things, and their trainer suggested they form a sub-unit. So they took the idea to the company and SM agreed that they would make a good unit. Plus, CBX gives SM a chance to bring EXO more fully into the Japanese market. CBX focuses on the Korean and Japanese market. CBX releases Japanese songs and albums. They are one of SM's most popular sub-units and they are so popular that they have held their own concert tour with just their sub-unit.
Also, fun fact: Did you notice how they had 6 backup dancers? With CBX there are always 6 backup dancers because 9 is a good number when it comes to formations in choreography, but fans think it's also supposed to mirror the fact that as members of EXO, even as a sub-unit they are still part of the main group. EXO's main group has 9 members so, the 6 backup dancers are supposed to be a visual representation of the rest of the members of EXO. EXO-CBX was EXO's first sub-sub-unit and some think that SM wanted to create a way to make it clear that just because they are a sub-unit doesn't mean that they aren't still connected to everything that makes them EXO.

As far as Drop That - trust me, this is one of those songs that's better seen in a live performance first, imho (you can find out what others think on that matter though😊). I'm aware that you like to see the MV or the studio versions first before viewing the live versions, So if you still want to do that for this song, I would highly recommend NOT viewing a color coded video that shows which member does what part, so you can get the surprise when you watch the live performance 😃.

I am 24 hrs late. But I am glad you reacted and enjoyed 'Hey Mama' from EXO CBX. The concept of all songs of EXO CBX are different from EXO. HOROLOLO, Blooming day, Ka-Ching are some of other songs of this unit I listen very often. How I wish this sub-unit make a comeback. But if at all it will not before 2023. Hey bestie! As i remeber, Hey Mama is their debut song (already offficialy as EXO CBX), it is no coincidence that this is another song called MAMA. Again, if I remember correctly Baekhyun said in one interview that hey mama is reunited with MAMA (EXO debut). The first MAMA was a song with respect to king (because it was their debut, everything was new), and Hey Mama is that simple, funny vibe song because they've been on stage for so many years and they're making their debut again.

CBX is so fun in my opinion, by the time you will check them out more you will know( for example the clip-the one from them), anyways about the c in CBX there is a joke that's going on in the fandom that chanyeol always want to be part of CBX so when you said that sub unit is baekhyun xiumin and chanyeol i couldn't stop myself from laughing hard 😂😂😂 it was cute and chanyeol would agree with you about it😂😂 but yeah chen is amazing vin this sub unit he really shining in there, and xiumin i need to tell you that he can do everything in exo but he is not the main in all positions, he can dance well he can really sing and you will hear it in the sub unit more he got an unique vocal tone and that's why i can recognise him in each song, he sings the most in head or mixed voice but when he is coming to his lower tones he sounds really different and it's so versatile when ever you are hearing him singing, about his rapping he is the main rapper in the sub unit but in exo he is not the main so he raps sometimes but it doesn't mean that he is not good in that because i can tell you he is really talented but because exo got a lot of member he doesn't have always the place to shine in there (though in the last comeback he got some lines and i felt him shine more), and baekhyun was a suprise that he raps to in this sub unite, he really showcases more sides of him and it's so beautiful (for example in horololo from CBX) and he is so talented and funny in the sub unit and also he is showcasing his dance skills though he is not in the dance line at all he can learn really quickly

We can appreciate this in songs as Cry For Love from his Bambi album, also in his Japanese album "BAEKHYUN" specially in his song "Drown", and in some songs too... But actually Baekhyun is rapping in almost every song from CBX (obviously not in ballads).
