It's Friday and Buzz has a new video up!! I look forward to the new weekly instalments Buzz. I am not sure of your intent with the old videos, but it sure sets the mood for old time radios. It puts us back to the era where radio was King. I think it's a nice touch. Funny; I watch the television news with my eyes closed. I find the pictures distracting, so for me radio IS still King. That is too bad about RUclips chasing you. It seems like anyone can flag your content and then YOU have to track them down to drop THEIR complaint? It makes things difficult for sure. Maybe ole Dickel could write some music and record it for you and you could broadcast it to your radios in-house. Anyway, that was another interesting video. Your re-cap job on the aluminum can was the best I have seen. Again you demonstrate great patience with the repairs. Nice job. I am wondering, are you posting this week's work, or was the work done several weeks back and this is the weekly edit? I knw that post production is a big job with making videos. Thanks once again for sharing your hobby with us. It is very much appreciated and enjoyed.
Stephen Moore Hi Stephen...I added that 1939 newsreel cause the radio was build in 1939...just a little Americana so to speak....All video are done within the 1 week time frame..Tomorrow I start part 3...2 days filming and and 4 days editing...,,Thanks....Buzz
12:10 The part 1, the video is up (I just watched it), but the music at the end of the video is muted. There is no sound where that song should be playing. Just fyi... I recon you haven't looked at it in many years.
HAHA Buzz, that was funny!!! I agree, I think Great Grandma is running the show down in Arkansas!!!! I wouldn't mess with her. Too bad about the copyright police being after you. If Glen Miller was still alive, I bet he would be pleased someone was playing his music after all these years. I guess technically he's MIA, but I rather doubt he is still around certainly not collecting any money for his music.I guess someone is though...and YT is really worried about it. Either that, or they have nothing better to do than pick on your vids. Scott
ScottTV1962 Thanks Scott...It seems like 3 companies were claiming copyrights.... hence the problem I think...As far as I'm concerned, all copyrights should have gone to Glen Miller's family forever... period.....Buzz
Buzz, Funny vid, my friend. I can't wait to let great-grandma see it. She'll get a belly laugh. If some of the tubes are weak and not fully conducting, then the B+ will remain higher than normal. Properly conducting tubes apply a heavier load on the power supply, thus are supposed to pull down the B+ to within normal operating ranges. Of course nothing is perfect, so expect a little give and take. Regards, John
joernone Thanks John.....,Brand new old stock output tube and rectifier coming soon from tubmeister Bob.....,I guess we know what will be featured on Part 3....................we all love great grandma........she takes NO crap from you!! hahahaha....Buzz
This may be a little late but sometimes the voltage readings given for old sets were with an old style analog volt-ohm meter that will load it down 1000 ohms per volt. The old style volt meters would load down the voltage somewhat whereas a modern digital voltmeter does not load it down at all. I can't remember whether a 6F6 has a higher plate current draw then a 6V6, I know that the 6V6 has a lower heater current draw though, about .8 amps verses 1.2 amps. If the 6F6 draws more plate and screen current then a 6V6 then that may explain it, but on the other hand a 6V6 is easier on the power transformer. A 6V6 is actually a better substitute for a 6F6, it's more efficient and puts out more output power with less voltage. In that RCA it will work fine because the tube uses cathode bias, sometimes called self bias, if the set used fixed bias then some changes would have to be made to the bias voltage to either raise or lower it for the type of tube on hand.
THE VOLTAGES THEY GIVE YOU ON THE SCHEMATICS WERE TAKEN I ASSUME WITH AN ANALOG METER WITH A LOT LOWER INPUT IMPEDANCE THAN WHAT WE USE TODAY,.HENCE THE READINGS WOULD BE LOWER BECAUSE OF CIRCUIT LOADING. JUST A GUESS. YOU THE MAN BUZZ!
The B+ is high because they measured with a 500-1000ohm per volt meter, not a 10meg input impedance meter as you’re using. Common mistake we all make with these old radios schematics. Should say on there somewhere what meter they took readings with.
Hi Buzz, That is a bummer what the YT music "Nazis did to you, I hear music on lots of channels and those videos were not removed. I have had "third party match" on some of my videos but no "strikes" It would not surprise me that they will bad those sound effects you & ( have in our videos. BTW...You do know when you replace that rectifier tube the B+ will go higher. Just make sure your line voltage is what it should be for that radio.
***** Hi Goat..I was hoping the new rectifier tube and the new 6F6 tube would reduce the voltage......I had 3 companies all saying they have a copyright claim on that song...Since i disputed it, , 2 of the companies released their claim, now just 1 claiming ownership..There are a lot of greedy companies out there falsly claiming copyright and trying to make a quick buck...the crooks....Buzz.
Buzz1151 Buzz a new rectifier with better emission will NOT lower the B+ voltage, it will raise it. I would not worry about it as long as it don't got higher than the tubes max plate voltage. HOWEVER the new 6V6 output tube may pull down the B+ voltage a little because of the better emission and increased power output.
I hate it when they remove the old foil capacitors from the 20's radios but these Cornell dubliays in the metal round cans seem to need modern caps put in because the dates are on the outside of the cans so you save the voltages and cans by restuffing them. What I am thinking about is 100 years from now and the old caps in the paper packages on the 20's radios need saved because the only radio dates are on the caps.
Hi Buzz at one time I had over 600 videos on my channel. I got a strike on one I had uploaded for over four years. So I said piss on it and removed almost all of them. They give your privet information to whomever caused the strike. But you don't get theirs. RUclips has sold us out ! Again ! I wish you all the best with the radio Buzz. Bobby
Hey Buzz, toss a new 6F6 in there and I bet the B+ will drop. It will draw more current. Keep playing with the power resister too. Keep the input to 110V. Sometimes the power transformer can have a short that can make the B+ higher, but I don't think that's the case. I have some RCA's and GE's and I never had a power transformer problem, well yet. Check all your voltages once you get it aligned and running. I think you might like to measure the voltages when the radio is playing like about 1/2 volume as see what you see at the 6F6 and or 6V6. Looky here... www.antiqueradios.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=129050 Another humdinger of a video. Nice catch with John the gatecrasher. Vivian Leigh looked good enough to eat. The announcer forget the O in Selznick's name. David O. Selznick. I have to write . MGM and have them make a correction.
Lockemeister 6F6 tube coming soon..I will video the whole thing....I just thinking ....you could sneak on the MGM lot and tell them you're FFC and want to make Godfather 4.. If they refuse, place the Hilter cats head in the studio boss's bed..hahahaha.....Buzz
You tube is run by assholes (no sugar-coating). There is so much dishonesty on that platform and they look the other way. Then, some background music that has nothing to do with the presentation, gets xhallenged by these geniuses. I had four such cases when my channel was up and running. I just quit. Did you know that Tom Hanks died (according to a thumbnail... and there are lots of cases like that) and YT does nothing to challenge those false clicks.
These video's would be great, if not for the horrible sound effect, puppeteering and other nonsense which are so annoying they make the video unwatchable for me.
Buzz1151 You are absolutely right! You should do whatever you want (I'm serious about that). The point is I would like to be able to watch, but the comics have an high annoyance factor with me and possibly other potential subscribers, that do not make the effort of commenting about it. It's your choice however.

i had to mute it cause of copyrighted song 🍺

What voltage are you seeing at the high voltage secondary of the power transformer?

We could do with less of the inserted silly comments and more technical information.
Ken Bird Ken...I do these videos as comedy entertainment..perhaps you should go elsewhere as I have no technical knowledge to give.. .....Buzz
