This is a fantastic memory of the Hollies that I would like to share. It happened in 1966 on a saturday morning in the little towm of Åmål in Sweden and me and my two friends were going to see each others at the square in the centre of the town. It was raining heavily and my friends did'nt turn up, and there I was all alone with my bicycle in the rain. Suddenly a big bus came and stopped just beside me and out came the Hollies! They stopped for a break going to a concert in Karlstad. I just could'nt beleive my eyes, the Hollies in Åmål! I asked them for their autographs and they were so kind and gave them to me. I am now 73 and this memory is still in my heart. Thank you to the Hollies for your kindness to a very young girl in the swedish rain so many years ago.
My wife and I sat at the beach later that day after we were married, we were so happy, watching the sunset and listening to the oldeez, we had no idea that a year and 76 days later, she'd die of pneumonia, Thankyou Jesus, for a short time we were very happy.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your wife. I can understand your pain because my fiancée died in accident just before we get married. But do you know that the bible, the words of God has promised in Acts 24:15 that says there were will be a "resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous", so we can hope to see them again in the near future! Because whether we like it or not it will happen because God promised it.

My husband and I met at a bus stop in Wapakoneta, OH, & were married in August of 1966. We were married for 53 years before he passed away in 2019! Love this song!!

My very favorite Hollies' song. Alan Clarke just kills on lead vocal and Graham Nash and Tony Hicks' harmonies are as great as any the Fab Four ever did. Bring back the '60's!
I was only a year old in 1966 but this song is one of my all time favorites. I learned this song from the late Kasey Casem. This is truly a rock and roll gem of the 1960's.

Bus stop, wet day, she's there, I say
Please share my umbrella
Bus stop, bus goes, she stays, love grows
Under my umbrella
All that summer we enjoyed it
Wind and rain and shine
That umbrella, we employed it
By August, she was mine
Every morning I would see her waiting at the stop
Sometimes she'd shopped and she would show me what she bought
Other people stared as if we were both quite insane
Someday my name and hers are going to be the same
That's the way the whole thing started
Silly but it's true
Thinkin' of a sweet romance
Beginning in a queue
Came the sun the ice was melting
No more sheltering now
Nice to think that that umbrella
Led me to a vow
Every morning I would see her waiting at the stop
Sometimes she'd shopped and she would show me what she bought
Other people stared as if we were both quite insane
Someday my name and hers are going to be the same
Bus stop, wet day, she's there, I say
Please share my umbrella
Bus stop, bus goes, she stays, love grows

Those harmonies! Brings back many memories of a great era
One of my favourites of all time. Thanks 4 keeping gr8 vibrations alive.
You had to be a really good band to do well in the sixties and these boys were holding their own with the Beatles,Stones,Kinks,The Who ,Animals ,Manfred Mann etc. Pretty good vintage I'd say.

My husband and I met at a bus stop in Wapakoneta, OH, & were married in August of 1966. We were married for 53 years before he passed away in 2019! Love this song!!
My husband and I met at a bus stop, he asked if he could share my umbrella. 54 years later we are still crazy about each other.

Como não ser saudosista, de se emocionar com uma música tão linda. Graças a Deus, sou de uma geração privilegiada. 👍
The first record I ever owned. My mom bought me record player for christmas..I was 11..I loved this song..played it over and over.
Hi Vickie
I’m such a hippie...I love this 60’s stuff💗 This song is so romantic...he knows he wants to marry her and isn’t confused, loaded with baggage or some kinda freak...it’s just so sweet🥰 I wish I had lived back then
good lyrics scousers
Me too ❤️
Not only are the lyrics great - but the arrangement, changes and vocals are all stellar! Such a well-crafted pop song. Thx for posting.
Always loved this song as a teen. Reminds me now, 50+ yrs later, of a wonderful friend of mine who loved it too. RIP, Jimmy H.
My very favorite Hollies' song. Alan Clarke just kills on lead vocal and Graham Nash and Tony Hicks' harmonies are as great as any the Fab Four ever did. Bring back the '60's!
I think the Hollies are better than the Beatles

Agreed.
I was only a year old in 1966 but this song is one of my all time favorites. I learned this song from the late Kasey Casem. This is truly a rock and roll gem of the 1960's.
I just found out my great uncle was good friends with Alan Clarke and Graham Nash back in Manchester! I'm fangirling so hard! I'm 12 but I LOOOVVEEE The Hollies! Yay!
Fantástico, envía una foto....eran amigos de tu abuela...
waldo nuñez I don’t speak Spanish well, but if you’re asking if I have a photo, I sadly don’t!

beyond nostalgia, this is high level music.
All that summer of 66 this blared through the speakers at the pool, I was 12 and I thought for a long time after that it was the best year of my life.
Hello from Berlin, Germany. This is why i always loved these songs because they are telling a story.
So true Claudia
giorgio77100 hey giorgio, so i am not the only one 😍
1966 I was 18. They don't make music like they used to. Graham song beautiful harmonies with the group. Thanks guys.
WOW YOU ARE OLD.. MOVE ON
60's, 70's 80's and some of the 90's were the best music ever made

Lyrics
Bus stop, wet day
She's there, I say
Please share my umbrella
Bus stops, bus goes
She stays, love grows
Under my umbrella
All that summer we enjoyed it
Wind and rain and shine
That umbrella we employed it
By August she was mine
Every morning I would see her
Waiting at the stop
Sometimes she'd shop
And she would show me what she'd bought
Other people stared
As if we were both quite insane
Someday my name and hers
Are going to be the same
That's the way the whole thing started
Silly but it's true
Thinking of our sweet romance
Beginning in a queue
Came the sun
The ice was melting
No more sheltering now
Nice to think that that umbrella
Led me to avow
Every morning I would see her
Waiting at the stop
Sometimes she'd shop
And she would show me what she'd bought
Other people stared
As if we were both quite insane
Someday my name and hers
Are going to be the same
Bus stop, wet day
She's there, I say
Please share my umbrella
Bus stops, bus goes
She stays, love grows
Under my umbrella
All that summer we enjoyed it
Wind and rain and shine
That umbrella we employed it
By August she was mine
I always wanted a love affair like this romantic story. It never happened but still I day dream about how it would have been. Such a sweet, lovely, image...
we all did too but it mostly happens in songs and movies.
+crackatoe I can kind of relate to this song. I met a beautiful young woman while she was walking her dog in the rain. I got her number and we had an intense one month romance. We ended up breaking up, her choice not mine, but what a month lol.
Don't give up. I'm in love with a girl I met a 7-11. She was short a buck.
Ha so did I. never happened though,
Robert McLernon
THAT'S SO SWEET.!!💓
