After a 2am start and 6 hour around trip up and down Adam's Peak, it was time to head to Kandy. A quick one hour turnaround and we found ourselves running for the bus.
I'd never been on a Sri Lankan bus. I'd seen a lot of them as they sped past, but never been on one. They are well known for their unrelenting speed.....and I wasn't disappointed. A 1.5 hour journey with brakes squealing as we made our way through the Central Highlands to catch a train from Hatton.
Yes the buses drive too fast, but they get you places quicker! Plus, and this goes for pretty much all of public transport in Sri Lanka, it's incredibly cheap. I can't remember how much we paid for our journey but it certainly wasn't more than 50p. So, even though we spent most of the journey standing, for 50p I wouldn't even expect a seat.
We then had to walk to Hatton train station to catch our train to Kandy. Unfortunately for us, the train was packed. It was so busy so that I had to spend most of my time sitting in the doorway with my feet hanging off the edge. Again though, the price is incredible. Around 50p for a 3 hour journey, if you want to travel Sri Lanka on a budget then the buses and trains are your very best option.
When you want to stop the bus you have to ring the bell ..anyway superb drone shots ..brilliant .enjoy ur stay
@Kasun Liyanage - I presumed that was the case but couldn't see any buttons for the life of me. Maybe I was just being blind because everybody says 'just ring the bell' haha
Ohhh my word😵that's last drone shot....what a beautiful scenery😍I don't have words to describe it
Well you'll like the next video then!
watch out when you put your legs outside like that. One guy had his legs cut off when they went between the train and platform. Nice drone shot btw
@S Sap - haha don't worry I was always looking out for obstacles! I can imagine that there are some pretty awful injuries now and again
Have fun
@Saneewa Withanage - thanks!
Wow beautiful tea estates.
@Felix Perera - yep they were much nicer than the ones around Nuwara Eliya
Where are you now Simon? Hope you are making another great video!
@Mary Abreu - I'm now in Indonesia, although I've still got a lot of footage from Sri Lanka to get through. Trying to get them uploaded but unfortunately I also have other real life stuff to get on with as well...next few should be in quick succession.
@@WiththeSparrows Oh good we will see more of Sri Lankan! I’ll be waiting for an Indonesia video postcards ! Take care
