Hey just a question, could you please tell me if we can put any head unit into the Holden commodore series II? Or can it only be a Holden series II specific head unit
There are options out there to replace the S2 IQ unit like Kayhan and DIG, speaking from experience stay away from the KAYHAN unit its not fit for purpose (very glitchy and it has glare issues where you cant see the screen at all even at the brightest setting) and their customer support ends when you pay for the unit, i havent looked at the DIG unit but people are saying its very good, most people just do a S1 retro conversion and get a kit from AEROPRO so they can use any double DIN unit out on the market that supports Apple car play.
also I forgot to mention if you got the KAYHAN or DIG units you will need to down spec the trim to a lower spec model so like an SS or Berlina dash trims from the S2 range
Great video mate!! This seems to look exactly like my Caprice PPV, US Cop Car Caprice. Other than the DIG & Kayhan pieces, are there any other options for aftermarket replacements? Cheers and keep up the great content.
Omg when you talk of little release clips. I have a 2007 V8 Calai. Round the drivers side. There's 3 plugs. The biggest part of the job is getting those plugs out lol.
I hope u told them to disconnect the battery as if left connected it cause the air bags to go off as an mate of mine found out the hard way luckily he got out of the way in time.it costed him big $$$ to replace the steering air bags and dash ones. Thank u for the info in this clip it was very useful helped me learn an few new tricks .
Darren this is not true. Your mate has been given very wrong information. The radio sits on the low speed GMLAN side of the wiring. The airbag circuit sits on the high speed data bus side . It is impossible for the radio being removed to trigger the airbag. Please don't leave comments like this on our videos. Leave the "caution" messages up to us experts
@@SupertechElectronics Does this mean that you don't even have to touch the driver and passenger knee airbags to remove the radio? I've seen instructions that say they need to be removed, especially to drop the glovebox.
@@targipgadponson5674 No we never touch the airbag plugs. This is not necessary for radio removal in this vehicle. We have removed at least 50 of these radios in our workshop. we have never needed to unplug the airbag circuits and in the 25 years of our operations we have never had an airbag deploy in any car.
I just had to jumpstart my 2012 series 2 ssv and noticed today that i have no power to the head unit inc radio/air con/hazard lights/head unit lighting & reverse camera does not come on in reverse. But the instrument lights on the dash and console work fine. I went and checked the fuses under the bonnet and in the passenger side footwell. Someone said there is a fuse box in the boot. But i cant find it. Can anyone enlighten me to the problem or head unit fuse location. Thanks.. New update. I just found the 3rd fuse box in the boot above the battery. I pulled every fuse out and not one was blown. So i put em all back in and turn the ignition on. & FMD Its works again. FFS, Unbelievable.
@@SupertechElectronics Hi I got it sorted. I pulled the fuse out in the boot and pushed it back in and the head unit came back on. There must of been something on the fuse connections to stop it from making contact. So it was a easy fix thankfully.
I hope u mentioned to disconnect the battery as it can make the air bags go off I’ve seen it happen it’s not an pretty sight if it hits an person in the face.
We were always under the opinion that if the VE has square air vents, it is a series 1. Series 2 VE have round air vents. The radio is definitely a series 2 due to its shape and removal procedure. This is a confusing combination even to us! Maybe there was a change over period between S1 and S2 when this model existed. We know the head unit is series 2 and the removal procedure is series 2 but the air vents are square...
Series 2 Omega, International, Berlina and Calais all have that look with the square vents. Sv6, SS and SSV have circle. E1 & E2 have the 3 pods and E3 have the better looking 3 pods.
Best tutorial on RUclips by miles. Thanks heaps for posting mate👍

Does the unit have rca cables plugs to ad an amp n sub in the car?
No. You can use a speaker level to RCA converter for this instead.
Is there an easier way to get stuck cds out ?
If there was an easier way, we would have shown you. This is not an easy fix. Supertech Electronics can repair it for you

Is it the same for the sv6?????
If it looks the same, then yes.
