Thank you so much Keith for giving all of this to all of us. From a 66 year old fan. Can’t believe you took the time. To me, just shows the kind of person you are and why we all think the world of you. THANKS!
I have never been a country music fan simply because of a perception I created in my mind, self induced ignorance. Mr Urban has changed my perspective on the country music world and the people in it. Super cool down to earth guy!
I have the acoustic/electric guitar with the amp up on the stand ,I practice almost every day almost.. I just started trying to learn again at 58 years young. I figure if I ever get good enough Im going to buy myself a Gibson Les Paul 🫢which has always been my dream guitar ..thanks Keith
As a lifetime bedroom guitar player and Stones fanatic, this excellent tutorial just reminded me once more about why I love the Stones (and guitar riffing) so much. Pure swagger, pure melody and pure badness! Thank you!! 💋👅
I haven't seen such a thorough way to teach a lesson before! I usually have to watch numerous videos to learn a song, this a one stop channel, subscribed!
Awesome! All one needs is the bare skeleton to master any song. I love the way Keith teaches exactly that. The whole song, from the beginning to the end, all we have to do is practice. Thank you Keith.
Share th knowledge amen and our armed forces should always tell ur buddy next to wat u have learned don't fill to much pride in us and think of th benefits if u do share ur secrets it just mite save ur life 1 day but thanks Kieth for sharing w us
You should go below the desired note and tune UP to that desired note. It will stay in tune better. Also, I usually tune the 6th string up to a G so that my 5th and 6th strings are the same.
One of the most infectious (sorry for the pun, boys) riffs ever recorded. My favorite Stones tune, because of it. Love that tone! Thank so much for this!
It was part of a DVD instruction series he did. Maybe after he made his fair share over production costs, then maybe he downloaded it to the tube. Or maybe someone else did. For sure though, he appears overall, to be a very good n generous guy.
Oh, it's great, and a lot of fun. Also used for "Love in Vain" (live electric), "Brown Sugar", "Happy", "Tumblin Dice", "All Down the Line"(?), "If You Can't Rock Me" (more?). Also 5-string banjo tuning. Corrections & additions welcome. Open D is good, too - "Dust My Broom" - Elmore James.
He's not a "genius" on the guitar. He's just better than you. I don't even know who the fuck this guy is and I've been playing guitar for 20 years. If he was a genius, I'd know about him.
Didn’t Richards take the low E string off of the guitar when playing this specific tuning? I recall reading an interview with him about 25 years ago where he said he did this on his tele for the same reason.
@@tomcoryell The low string gets in the way of a clean chord because it's a fifth below the root and being a bass note it can over dominate the sonic spectrum balance. KR's reasoning is that the bass should be covering those frequencies. I'd also posit that you can't get a proper big sweeping strum going if you're having to dodge the 6th string the whole time.
Nice to find this as I'm a big KU fan. I've read that KR has several 5 string guitars just for this tuning, some simply missing the low D and others built with only 5.
Great job, i haven't played in a while and didn't know you had these videos up. I'm going to take advantage of them to get myself back into it. thank you sir as i have never experimented with different tuning aside of basic drop D
I remember the first time I heard that on the radio. It had just been released and I was driving my '62 Impala down a Carolina back road. I was 16 and had no idea what a gin-soaked, bar-room queen was being the highly protected child I was back then. So I asked my mom. She said something about fire and the devil and I best behave. But, damn, that riff.
Keith likely has his URBAN guitars set up by Joe Glaser onsite. Joe does his best with a wink and promise. Should we expect the intonation to be this good?
Thank you so much Keith for giving all of this to all of us. From a 66 year old fan. Can’t believe you took the time. To me, just shows the kind of person you are and why we all think the world of you. THANKS!

Keith Urban teaching this great blues song. Too cool

Buy it ! Pennies a day ! Don't wait !
Like so many I really want to thank Keith Urban for taking the time to do this lesson. Thanks fishbowl!
YOU'RE WELCOME FROGCUP !
I was lucky enough to see Keith at Australian Open in Jan 2020. Just chilling out eating Ritz crackers. Super chill guy

I realy like. Now I know the tuning Keith use most of the time. Thank you.
At last a lesson on this great song without having to finger pick, top job.
I haven't seen such a thorough way to teach a lesson before! I usually have to watch numerous videos to learn a song, this a one stop channel, subscribed!
Keep up the good job Keith and many thanks from the Netherlands!
That tuning is going to give me inspiration , I've been trying to get a sound and that is it ,,finally I can really rock.🎵🎸👍
Truly fab ,thank you 76yrs and still rocking big time and the lesson was very helpful ,ta again ,Glasgow calling-good luck virus wise .
John Durning I’m ‘63, so still just a youngster I guess ;-)

You are amazing!!!!!! I love all of the lessons! I Will learn each one! One by one! Thank you!
Such a nice guy! Humble for a big music star!

Also needed in addition to the skeleton: Mastery.
Keith you just rock
Love this guy he is just so cool and this lesson makes so much sense now!!💕💕💕💕
Great lesson I have looked this up several times and this is the best one by far.
You make is very easy to understand. Thankyou. 👍🏻
Well explained...thank you for your time to help others. 😁👍🏻🇦🇺
Thanks Keith. Fantastic tutorial 👍🏼
What a cool place to play good rock and roll
Keith just plays through the amp, he said he uses his feet for other stuff, like standing up for instance..
You gentlemen did a fantastic job braking the song and guitar down to understand . im jamming with you guys . thank you.

That's a gtreat idea - and you still have string if you need it back on!
Very cool. Thanks for spreadin the magic
This is a AWESOME way to progress.
Total walk through. Brilliant ☺
This is to admire you take some time to
Teach us. Hugs from Bogota Colombia. Abrazos amigo.
Good one, mate!! Keep them coming. Thank you!👍😊😎
Great lesson Keith for one of the Stones classic guitar riffs. Thanks for posting.
So nice of you to take the time to help the rest of us. Thank you. Just subscribed

i'm confused. this bloke looks like Mr Urban. for such a big name, offering a guitar lesson puts him way up there on the cool bloke list.
it is this goes back about five years ago
Keith was using alter ego
It was part of a DVD instruction series he did. Maybe after he made his fair share over production costs, then maybe he downloaded it to the tube. Or maybe someone else did. For sure though, he appears overall, to be a very good n generous guy.
what's is up with the english accent? lol
Almost every famous guitarist has lessons available
@@bjellison905the young keith grew up in my hometown 🤠
This sounds great when played clean or very slight gain. One should learn all the fills in too, they really make the song.
"everybody!" 😂
Very good lesson. I will watch more and learn.
That's a magnificent room he's in.
As Keith says, "Dump the 6th string, you don't need it". And pull off the gain.
Unreal Cool that you set this up perfectly for a solo guitar...
Great lesson : good sound, good feelin' !
That guitar sounds rockin but I did laugh every time he threw his hand out when he would emphasize the note 😂 like G “jazz hand” 🖐️
Nice production values here, and excellent tuition. Thank you.
this is why most 'bar bands' don't sound like the Stones...Thank You Mr Keef !
6 minutes in, still tuning... jesus!
Liked the lesson Ive never tuned my guitar down like that!!!
Love you bro love Aussie and your guitar style is original as Keith's himself
Great stones Song what guitars are you useing please guys they sound great,
Thanks Keith, and Keef! One odd tech glitch is at 11:27 where Keith plays C and the graphic shows D. Otherwise great, thanks again.
You make it easy for everyone .
Thanks Keith, your a true genius on the guitar..Good day man!

walkinwithjesus then you listening to wrong music...so why slam someone for their opinion? Kinda takes away the walk with Jesus thing you claim...
good point Roger K... Pop cuntry sensation with pretty hair and a wife I wouldn't mind cutting
walkinwithjesus What a fucking dummy you are. Moronic ......ha ha ha!
Fantastic, thanks Keith.
Thanks Keith 🤙🤙
Nice 🤙🕺
Thanks Keith!
Guitar lessons from Hogworth's Castle! Cool. Great lesson Keith. Thanks Man.
Nothing seen yet
Nice inspiration..
Hi , from Whangarei .
So cool you've done this for us ! Thank you
Didn’t Richards take the low E string off of the guitar when playing this specific tuning? I recall reading an interview with him about 25 years ago where he said he did this on his tele for the same reason.
Yes he does take it off..He said it gets in the way..lol
If you play clean, you can leave it on. I have a dedicated Keef guitar and leave the low D on. It’s not a Tele though.
@@tomcoryell The low string gets in the way of a clean chord because it's a fifth below the root and being a bass note it can over dominate the sonic spectrum balance. Yes he did and does.
@@tomcoryell low D ???
I like the way you teach without arrogance! Good job!
I think its a great lesson!
Good on ya bro
That low E string does get in the way, it's that simple. Better to leave it off your guitar in open G tuning.
Great lesson
That's a nice room.way better than being stuck between the jukebox and the bathroom..
That lessons was great!!! Will you please teach Blue Ain't Your Color? Please:)
Nice to find this as I'm a big KU fan. I've read that KR has several 5 string guitars just for this tuning, some simply missing the low D and others built with only 5.
That guy knows his stuff
Speaking of different tunings... How about Suite Judy Blue Eyes?
I use DDDDAD. But I think the original was EEEEBE. Stephen Stills is brilliant.
@@mikelundquist4596 Nice! Either works and they use both. EB was the original but I found a live version using AD. Took me three months to learn it.
Who polishes his guitars...?? Shiny, shiny, shiny...!!...:)
Great job, i haven't played in a while and didn't know you had these videos up. I'm going to take advantage of them to get myself back into it. thank you sir as i have never experimented with different tuning aside of basic drop D
If the jist of the line is played on the two middle strings, one really doesn't need to do an open tuning. Yes?
change the tuning m8 there are runs on your 1st string
@@kurtkeon2430 Yes, but nothing that can't be played in standard tuning.
Yes, also he overcomplicates the intro here, it's just played on the two middle strings, the B string isn't played.
I think we may have the same mom. Lol
Yep - one of the great riffs of all time.
when playing the stones the 6th string changes by not being on the guitar at all lol
Uban was cool, obviously knows his stuff..next guy I got 15 seconds into and stopped him....
Tye Cook 10 seconds
The lesson starts @ 9:45
You’re forgetting the little embellishments that k.richards plays that make the song what it is .
Yep . . YOU ~ ROCK ! !
You know what he’s really thinking where’s my guitar tech right now
Great... 🍻
what about the licks in between the cords and the lick after the resolve.
Anybody know what kind of guitar Keith is using ??
It was an Urban Guitar that is sold through HSN that Keith works with to promote his brand.
@@juliusdarby1914 thank you 👍
Do they make them left handed?
AWESOME!
Keith likely has his URBAN guitars set up by Joe Glaser onsite. Joe does his best with a wink and promise. Should we expect the intonation to be this good?
I love this tuning...but it does make everything sound like The Stones...no mater where you hit it.
where did the first dude go ???
I thought he was rock Iron Man when he was droppin' that E to D
Always come UP on the desired pitch.
la classe !
Never knew John BonJovi does guitar lessons on RUclips !
That’s what I thought too. Especially in the tuning
Are these Urban guitars any good or is it like an estaban thing ?
What happenned to the band vocals?
You are supposed to be playing and singing lead vocal, for that final take.
Too bad they didn't take out the lead and leave it to you play.... ☹️
I like that room
Sorry guys, but this is missing a LOT!!! Check out "GCC", on RUclips, and 'C' for yourself.
Keith is awesome...
Adam sounds a bit scrappy
keith why dont u give us a lesson on how to do the chicken picking
Keith Richard playing Keith Richard 😅too funny.
