I think the only logical reason they scrapped (or more accurately ignored) Hydro is probably because they didn't wanna have two same colour ninjas, the ninja pallet swaps are complicated enough and the Devs had that in mind, but Im really down to see him as a cyber Lin kuei member we need more than ketchup and mustard and barbecue
@@dogerandy101 Cyber sub zero was just a What if, He will most likely never return so I don't really count him... Besides Cyber sub zero is no more quan chi made him a human once again
They could do a reboot where a hydro variant was Bi Han and Qui Liang’s granddad who would start off being called hydro become the first subzero, and who taught rain hydromancy.
To make Hydro a Cyber Ninja would make him a more playable person than a Human Ninja. Cyrax = Yellow Cyber Ninja , Sektor = Red Cyber Ninja. While Sub Zero and Frost both have been turned into cyber ninja's, Rain would not have the chance to be in the project to make these fighters. Where Hyrdo would. So it would just make much much much more sense and be much smoother to story integration.
It would be awesome to see more super obscure characters, even ones that ended up scrapped, from side MK media, or whatever be added as Kameo Fighters at least. Hydro, Belokk, Durac, Jataaka, Oniro, Asgaarth, Baphomet, Lucifer, Monster, and so on.
Here's how to introduce Hydro in the new timeline. Hydro is the cousin of Bi-han and Kuang-Lin. he can control water but has learned to control it temperature to freeze or make scalding hot to burn with help from advanced ninja tool's he can generate Hydroelectric effects. Story is torn between his cousin feud still on the fence but hope's to act as a mediator and end this conflict before one of them go to the extreme and do something truly unredeemable. This setup him founding out about the force Cyber Initiative or the plan to massacre the Shirai Ryu leading a coup against Bi-han
It would be interesting to have him as a Kameo in mk1 as there are no water related kameos right now. I also liked a variation system in mkx, so if the next game is going to have variations, they could make it a subzero variation for human version or a cyborg ninja variation
I've always have been fond of seeing both Hydro and Khrome as well.. One Ninja manipulating three Water and Ice and electricity at the same which is amazing and while the other Ninja manipulating Metal which is awesome big time.. Same goes with both male and female Chameleon/Khameleon and Tremor as well.. All five of these characters I've always found them unique and special in their own separate ways..
Never realized Hydro was an actual thing in the MK universe... I 1st heard of him in a Mugen MK game and thought he was just a original water ninja thought up for that version lol
Great Video, I actually commissioned some Hydro fan art recently. He would make a great Kameo I've always felt that since NRS seems to like the idea of a blue cyber ninja ever since MK9 and X with Cyber Sub-Zero, and given the negative reaction a Cyber Frost got. That they can combine elements from both of those move sets with a couple added hydromancy flairs to make Cyber Hydro a reality which would be great fanservice since MUGENs of Hydro as a Cyber Ninja have been around even before MK Legacy, but also make him different enough from Rain to justify both existing, because I really think there's room for both in the wide lore of MK.
Thanks for the kind words and I 100% agree. I don’t know that there’s enough demand for Hydro, but there are infinite ways to work him into the lore based on everything that happened in the MK1 story.
I have and I’ve wanted to see him officially be in the game. Sub and Rain are alike as they manipulate water. But hydro has electricity too and there’s never been a character with both. I think hydro would make a good addition as a kameo if not a main roster character

Just make hydro use water and electricity so it links to hydroelectricity, you could easily make him a set up character that (i know this sounds stupid and lame kinda) places water after water attacks that he can activate again with electricity or drench characters for a bit to do more damage allow hydro to do alternate moves whilst an enemy character is drenched.
Would be cool if he were a LinKuei ninja variant of Rain And make him super OP with control over ice AND water There's also 2 characters already who have fire abilities: Liu Kang and Scorpion.

I think the game has room to accommodate two different water users, other fighting games like street fighter and Tekken have multiple characters that use the same martial arts style and everyone likes it. Since rain has become more and more of a water wizard than a ninja, hydro can be that water ninja that rain stopped being. Also, in mk 11 didn't we get sub-zero *AND* Frost? two ice ninjas
Either a Kameo OR now that Rain's background is that of a mage and he practices water arts than what if Hydro is his mentor and HE learned his abilities from the Water God at the Temple of elements? Sounds cool, right? OR just make him a cyber.
