@@nataliebutler nicely done but if you bother to read this… The only indication of any effect on gut flora is implied at the end of this little snippet in the concluding discussion, which in context, means that the cognitive effect is reversed because of the increase in less desirable bacteria in the gut that these higher dosage ranges… BUT UH........*the range they're talking about is 15 to 50 mg/kg of body weight which is like 1-3 GRAMS* of methylene blue per day. so points for effort, but this is as irrelevant as could possibly be to this person's question 😜.

In contrast, MB treatment in a high dose (50 mg/kg/day) did not affect the cognitive abilities. In small amounts people traditionally orally dose with, like 15 mg, it is supposedly beneficial, in large amounts this reverses and it is harmful.. but those amounts are like a few grams a day. The first paragraph explains a direct correlation between it improving the gut Microbiome and cognitive ability, the second paragraph explains how in higher doses this cognitive ability was reversed because of the proliferation of unhealthy bacteria that happens at these higher doses. if I should assume (and nobody should) that you were thinking only of low doses like 15 mg, the simple answer would seem to be yes. But if you want to be more respectful of information, I'm not qualified to give you a "simple yes or no", I just copied and pasted of the information to draw your own from because *I don't know your body* 🤗.

It lasted for about 2 days. I'm not sure what to do about this because I really liked the mental clarity obtained from my 1st 2 doses. ah! and also Melatonin before sleeping (3mg)

    • @Christian-Pickles
      @Christian-Pickles Год назад

@leesasterne3403 - I don’t know if you’ll ever see my comment. But taking melatonin is one of the WORST things anyone can do for their health. I hate how it’s so promoted lately it’s ridiculous. The fact that mainstream doctors are ok promoting it should be a big red flag.
      In short:
Taking external sources of melatonin triggers the patient’s body to stop producing their own melatonin.
      The body says:d
“Oh according to our internal sensors we already have melatonin. In fact, too much [for example, if the patient is taking an large dose of melatonin to try to extra to make themselves sleepy]. Therefore we should stop making as much, or stop making altogether, our own melatonin.”
And then the patient stops making their own melatonin.
      And what does this mean?
It means the patient’s body becomes 100% dependent on the external supply of melatonin. Or else they have 0 melatonin and cannot sleep. Literally melatonin is what makes your brain sleep. Without enough melatonin, you lay awake for hourssss, wide awake, not sleeping, no matter how badly you want to sleepy.
This dependency on external can happen in as short a period as 1-2 weeks of taking external melatonin.
Doctors treat it like it’s danger free and good for you. It’s awful for you!!! It’s more addictive than strong antidepressants and the withdrawals can be hell and more dangerous than strong antidepressants!
Withdrawal of melatonin, tbe body won’t make its own melatonin for 2 weeks before it recognizes, “oh, the external source of melatonin went away and isn’t coming back.”
Even tapered withdrawal will lead to insomnia on some level.
Cold turkey stopping external melatonin will lead to insomnia so severe you absolutely CANNOT SLEEP. PERIOD. NO MATTER HOW BAD YOU WANT TO SLEEP.
And people can get brain damage, seizures, and even death from sleep deprivation.
There’s black box warnings on medications for such highly dangerous risks- and yet melatonin carries the same risks and everyone treats it like it’s freaking healthy candy.
      Literally my own story:
I took melatonin for 2 weeks. It was upon recommendation of a doctor. Then i miraculously stumbled blindly onto an article that saved me to this day. The same article. explaining what I’m now explaining to you. I’m sure that article saved my life and saved me from screwing up my brain and saved me from life long insomnia. And saved me from circadian rhythm problems.
I immediately quit the external melatonin cold turkey. The article warned that there would be “rebound insomnia” during the 2 weeks it took my body to learn to make its own melatonin again.
      Sweet unholy mother of evil.
“Rebound insomnia” was phrased too nicely.
For 2 weeks straight, I lay WIDE WIDE WIDE AWAKE. 100% unable to sleep. Every single. Night. Anywhere from 4-8 hours laying there wide awake.
Yeah literally I laid there in bed for 8 hours wide awake. Couldn’t sleep. It was that bad. I don’t remember if occasionally at the end I’d be so exhausted if doze off for 30-60 minutes or so or what…. If I remember correctly I think that I wasn’t working at the time, I was already partially disabled and applying for disability, so thank God I didn’t have anywhere to be in the morning on 0 sleep.
It was the worst 2 weeks from hell.
Having to lay in bed not sleeping every night, sometimes alllllll night. All 8 hours.
2 weeks if almost 0 sleep.
But I held on tightly to the hope of the article: “you must NOT take melatonin or it undoes your hard work! Just wait it out two weeks, and your body will start making melatonin again!”
Thank God that that article was right, and like clockwork around 2 weeks- I started making melatonin again. And I could fall asleep on my own again.
Slowly at first. With insomnia. But slowly the insomnia faded into less and less and less hours laying there awake….
Until I could finally lay down, close my eyes, hold still for 15 minutes, and fall asleep under my own body’s natural melatonin power again.
But damn I’d that article hadn’t warned me up front about “the 2 weeks of rebound insomnia” and warned me “no matter how bad it gets, do not to go back to the melatonin, this is only temporary insomnia while your brain reboots, it’ll only last 2 weeks, just hold on”- I would’ve gone running back in insomnia desperation. Which would’ve ironically undone the hard work and made the problem worse again.
And they was my melatonin hell story.
And I took melatonin…. 2 weeks. Total. Before that. There was enough to make my own body stop making alllll its own melatonin. Oh and I wasn’t overdosing on melatonin or anything. Just taking what the bottle said.
      Now that was 2 weeks.
Imagine the horrific damage to our brain and body’s sleep control centers, if someone takes external melatonin for years?!?!?!
Or if a child takes it when their brains are developing?!?!?!
Or if someone is taking a larger dose of melatonin thinking “it’ll help me sleep MORE.”

It's not that rare. A close relative has real migraines occasionally. There are good and effective drugs out there, called Triptanes. It was really a game changer when these came out 20 years ago. However they work on some of the Serotonin receptors. Migraines often come with digestive tract problems like nausea, sickness and vomiting. For these problems there are OTC antihistamines like Dimenhyrinate, very effective as well. Unfortunately, they are also serotinergic. That is so poorly documented, that it took me half an hour to find the references.
All this therapy was discussed and prescribed by a neurologist.
Nevertheless there they (single person, I just don't want to disclose the gender) were hit by a quite unpleasant Serotonin Syndrom that went on for 2 hours. Just when I prepared to take them to the ER it faded down.
But ok, this was one incident in maybe 200 migraine attacks treated that way.
But anyhow, you don't want to experience an Serotonin Syndrom....

kathy, with all due respect, Serotonin Syndrome is very common. MDMA causes it, and that is a widely used drug. Energy drinks cause it, Kratom causes it, combining the two causes it. Pre workout causes it. Herbs like St. Johns Wort causes it. Gingko Baloba causes it, Bacopa causes it. Mixing anything aforementioned will cause it. Usually it doesnt kill people. I have had it, accidentally, twice...i combined a diet pill from a GNC with an energy drink later in the day (6 hrs later)...I felt like i was dying and it was perhaps the worst experience of my life. In spite of being educated and having had it once...1 year later it happened again when I tried Kratom.

There are a few different trains of thought on this. My fiance is taking only 20 drops of .5mg per drop MB resulting in a 10mg of MB intake. She has stopped her depression medication and seems very happy with the results.
I take 40mg a day because I am trying to get to .5mg per KG of body weight and I feel good results.
So start small and listen to your body. If you have more questions please ask.
As far as how to take it, you can put the drops directly into your mouth, or drink it in water or a drink of your choice. I do water with a straw to minimize (temporary) staining of the mouth. My fiance drinks hers in orange juice each morning.

Dr. Nathan Bryan says methylene blue depletes/destroys nitric oxide so I stopped taking it, are you able to comment on that? Thank you!

This is true. It does deplete nitric oxide but that is the point. I highly suggest you read Mark Sloan's "Ultimate Guide to Methylene Blue" as it discusses in great detail why Nitric Oxide is bad for you and how MB helps to reduce it in your body, which again is a good thing.

So if i take beef liver capsules, those are ok to take with methylene blue? I've been doing 3 drops of methylene blue so it's even a small amount there.
