I find it hilarious that Bethesda didn't have any Fallout content ready for the massively succesful Fallout tv series but Gearbox had a Borderlands 4 announcement ready for the disastrous travesty that was the Borderlands film.
Feels like they are both in the wrong timeline. Imagine if Starfield was not made, and instead we got Fallout 5? That show would have sold like 10 million copies of it like what the Witcher show did for The Witcher 3.
It still blows my mind that E3 is gone due to the digital age where these companies can just broadcast a show, but we get mediocre shows like Gamescom and Summer Games Fest still.
What really blows is that I was all set to go to E3 2019, but my son was born two weeks before I was supposed to fly out. I told myself “Eh, it’s fine, I’ll just get refunded for whatever I spent and go next year.” Little did I know, that was literally my last chance to attend. I don’t regret it, but it’s definitely disappointing.

Meh, anyone with a brain that is balls deep in the gaming community can separate the game from the movie. Borderlands is still a massive series and its millions of fans will be anticipating the 4th game. 3 was a good game, but the predecessors were so good that it set the bar too high to match. Jack was just an A class villain that Boarderlands 3 found it hard to live up to. Here’s hoping they take the learnings and experiences from 3 and transition it to Borderlands 4.

(I like Borderlands btw ) Like any other business, especially in video games, their whole goal now is to expand their audience to increase sales and market share by either convincing Gamers who have never played these games before or reaching out to the general population. That's the whole point of them making the movie the same thing with any of the other video game companies making movies and TV shows and books. It's to reach audiences that would have never played these games before. And if you ask most people now about Borderlands the first thing that flies out of their mouth is instead of oh. Those are those cell shaded first person shooter games is now oh, it's that shitty movie that bombed and I watched hilarious RUclips videos about how bad it was. And that's probably why Borderlands 4. Kind of got the reception that it did is because that's now what people think of the franchise. I know I always argue that first-party games and new IPs from ex-third-party studios should be fully exclusive to the hardware it's being developed for, since it's what sells and is meant to take advantage of said hardware, but, for a licenced game, I don't actually mind making exceptions.

Wukong is a single player game. I don't know why we're looking at the concurrent players like it's an online multiplayer game when the player count is a natural reflection of whatever the pre-order and day one buyer numbers were. People who get a game at release, tend to play it the day of release.
The other piece of information missing when attempting to compare concurrent player counts between games is that a lot of games are outright banned in China given the strict control/censorship of the Chinese government. So to purchase those banned games, Chinese consumers have to use international versions of Steam or other methods to play those games, which probably dwarfs what the sales numbers would be if access was free and easy like in the West. Black Myth Wukong is different in that its available day 1 in China and appeases the censorship guidelines. Apples to oranges comparison in a sense and somehow all these journalists writing articles seem to forget how numbers work.

I get it if the games shown at an event like Gamescom weren't interesting to people, but we knew most of the games going into it. Also, this many announcements means most of it will probably not land for an individual person. Because of that, I'm usually left wondering what people were expecting. Do people think they're always gonna like every single announcement in a 2 hour presentation? The event was fine, most of the games were ok, and few were cool, so basically, exactly what everyone should've expected.

What's your point? People LOVE to point out Steam numbers for games that are on both PC and Console so your only getting ONE of the available numbers. It could have also been on Xbox if it weren't for the fact they couldn't get it running well enough on Xbox to launch yet so they delayed it. i love Black Myth Wukong, i'm having a blast with it, the art design is top notch and the bosses and fight choreography are incredible (i've finally found a game where it focuses more on bosses while being more forgiving, i would love to play Souls and Bloodborne and all the rest for the bosses but they were too challenging for me, i know this isn't a boss rush game but it's just how i feel)

Surprised Jon didn't talk about the new *Shadow the Hedgehog "Doom Powers" trailer.* I was originally NOT going to buy this new Sonic Generations game because I did NOT like the original console/PC version of Sonic Generations (much preferred the *3DS version* of Sonic Generations), but MAN this trailer COMPLETELY changed my mind and now I'm excited to get this new Sonic x Shadow Generations game. (Just seeing *Metal Overlord from Sonic Heroes* was enough for me to go absolutely INSANE and wanting to play this game day 1)

I gave in and downloaded Black Myth Wukong yesterday on PS5. It's fantastic... in Performance Mode. Wouldn't recommend the Graphics or Balanced mode, but for this type of game you really need 60fps if possible. Excellent game so far. 👍
I am so excited for Secret Level! If this takes off imagine all the different video game IP’s that have never had a good experience on the silver screen getting an episode in following seasons!
I believe that the SD cards that have the Nintendo name on it go through a more rigorous QA process. SD cards can be a minefield, of poorly run brands and an incredible amount of standards to keep track of. If someone unaware of the vast range of quality and speeds of cards buys one of the Pokemon, or Mario, or Zelda cards you're guaranteed for that card to be up to spec.
Nintendo won't release a cartridge machine for their old systems due to dead batteries being a thing. Many people would call to support because their saved games has been lost or are not working anymore.
While Gamescom did not have a vey memorable game line-up, it never got boring for me, even when they were yapping on stage. So my compliments to Geoff for making an uninterresting line-up of games not be boring.
If you don't have vr already and have a gaming pc as well I'd 1000% for it Besides the quest exclusives there is so much quality on steam vr if you hook it up to pc
Maybe worth mentioning: This Infinite Nikki game will most likely be Free to Play. It's based off a mobile series from China (in corporation with some japanese developers) and this one will also release on Mobile platforms. Whoever this Sean guy is who wants to pre-order this, good luck with that^^
I picked up the Atari 2600+ from last year and like the new 7800+ it is really nice. It isn't a 'mini' with built in games, it uses real game cartridges from the 80's and there are new game cartridges being made - new carts of old games and new carts of newly made games. It's great since it natively outputs HDMI, doesn't restrict you to a set list of games, and looks just like the original but about 20% smaller.

It’s messed up ‘cause the Series X is a damn good console all things considered, but it’s just not utilized anywhere near to its potential ‘cause of the Series S’s status as the more common console. I was making notes of the conference when it was live in the Spawncast discord. I was kinda expecting some from the cast would be streaming the show reacting to it, but apparently not. We had more excitement for a Museum launch than gamescom. RGT really didn't like this show LOL. I think a C- or D+ is pretty average for the show.
Some only cover events not sponsored by Nintendo to say they talk about more than just Nintendo. Say that there may only be a couple of impactful titles out of 40, proceeds to talk glowingly about way more than a couple.
A few years ago, I had a dream that Nintendo released the N64 console, games, and accessories again in stores. If Nintendo does that for their older systems, I will be spending all my money.

Honestly, there were only three new games that caught my interest. Dying Light: The Beast, Sniper Elite: Resistance and Mafia: The Old Country. That's it.

With the themed SD cards, it is useful to distinguish between the cards. knowing at a glance what's on it is helpful. I have several that are identical, so I had to draw shapes on them so I can tell the difference.

one thing about the micro sd card designs - I have a lot of them for various consoles and other devices (many of them are loose), and they all look the same. It would be nice if I had different designs on them so I could differentiate them without having to plug them in and look at the files on them.
Yeah, the 2600 was the first console I laid my hands on so this system is quite cool. Great price as well. I was very happy that Fatal Fury hit the Xbox.

It runs fine on PS5, but this game is meant to be played on a 4090 powered machine to get the full UNREAL engine 5 experience!

Atari 2600? Time to get a shovel and dig up any old buried E.T. cartridge and see if it still works! Just hope this reboot doesn't bring back the nightmares of the 80's gaming crash... 😅
I gave in and downloaded Black Myth Wukong yesterday on PS5. It's fantastic... in Performance Mode. Wouldn't recommend the Graphics or Balanced mode, but for this type of game you really need 60fps if possible. Excellent game so far. 👍

I believe that the SD cards that have the Nintendo name on it go through a more rigorous QA process. SD cards can be a minefield, of poorly run brands and an incredible amount of standards to keep track of. If someone unaware of the vast range of quality and speeds of cards buys one of the Pokemon, or Mario, or Zelda cards you're guaranteed for that card to be up to spec.
Nintendo won't release a cartridge machine for their old systems due to dead batteries being a thing. Many people would call to support because their saved games has been lost or are not working anymore.

While Gamescom did not have a vey memorable game line-up, it never got boring for me, even when they were yapping on stage. So my compliments to Geoff for making an uninterresting line-up of games not be boring.

Maybe worth mentioning: This Infinite Nikki game will most likely be Free to Play. It's based off a mobile series from China (in corporation with some japanese developers) and this one will also release on Mobile platforms. Whoever this Sean guy is who wants to pre-order this, good luck with that^^
Dying Light the Beast was a great surprise and it's a full game, not DLC.
I wonder if it's the size of DL1's standalone expansion, The Following. That one was pretty dope and gave you the buggy to drive around.
I picked up the Atari 2600+ from last year and like the new 7800+ it is really nice. It isn't a 'mini' with built in games, it uses real game cartridges from the 80's and there are new game cartridges being made - new carts of old games and new carts of newly made games. It's great since it natively outputs HDMI, doesn't restrict you to a set list of games, and looks just like the original but about 20% smaller.
This game is awesome and must be kept alive in a physical format.
The best announcement was secret level. Blur studios makes some incredible stuff and I have no doubt that this show will be excellent !

Pretty sure at this point the series X was the last Xbox console I'll ever buy. I'll save the money to upgrade my PC instead when next gen comes

It’s messed up ‘cause the Series X is a damn good console all things considered, but it’s just not utilized anywhere near to its potential ‘cause of the Series S’s status as the more common console. I’d love if Xbox launched a handheld similar to Steam Deck and ROG Ally, but I honestly think I wouldn’t even buy that either.

Even Helen Keller could see when Microsoft bought ZeniMax that they were looking to go third party publishing at that point because Xbots don't buy games, they rely on WelfarePass. IF Xbots bought games, they might have decided to go full in on their own hardware.

@@ShadowWolfQc - The games I’ve played on Xbox were all via Game Pass, and I ended my subscription months ago. I don’t even see the in incentive to buy their games physically, and that’s kinda shocking for me.
I was making notes of the conference when it was live in the Spawncast discord. I was kinda expecting some from the cast would be streaming the show reacting to it, but apparently not. We had more excitement for a Museum launch than gamescom. RGT really didn't like this show LOL. I think a C- or D+ is pretty average for the show.

A few years ago, I had a dream that Nintendo released the N64 console, games, and accessories again in stores.

Honestly, there were only three new games that caught my interest. Dying Light: The Beast, Sniper Elite: Resistance and Mafia: The Old Country. That's it.

With the themed SD cards, it is useful to distinguish between the cards. knowing at a glance what's on it is helpful. I have several that are identical, so I had to draw shapes on them so I can tell the difference.

Proud to say I’ve learned about a lot of these tactics through my own experiences. Especially watching multiple videos on a game I want to invest time into.
The PS5 being bundled bunched with a game that will take up half its storage is certainly a choice

According to Geoff it’s gamescom themselves that wants the opening night live show. They are the ones that pay him and his team to do it. So blame gamescom themselves for the average yearly showcase

one thing about the micro sd card designs - I have a lot of them for various consoles and other devices (many of them are loose), and they all look the same. It would be nice if I had different designs on them so I could differentiate them without having to plug them in and look at the files on them.

Atlas fallen might be One of the best action games released for me in som time. Great combat with diverse styles that more games need to imply.
