I like the way you mix and step back , then play some more. I came from the trades and am not an artist. I have done a few projects and you don't have to be an artist. I continue to enjoy your video's . Thank you for all of your efforts and sharing, cheers
Love it, Rhonda! You know, whenever I watched SCC's videos, I was always thinking about how I could take it to the next level... but you do that, and more than I ever thought about! Thank you so much for teaching me!
Just found your channel. Seen you with Mike on SCC videos. I'm about to do my kitchen and then hopefully start a small countertop business. However, I may have to wait until I get my spine fused again...oh well, such is life. Excited to start!!
How exciting! We also offer a fantastic Pro class where we teach and help those wanting to start an epoxy business. Check out my website www.rk3designs.com/ and please let me know if you have any questions 😊😊
Wear more pink Rhonda...it’s your colour! Now, equally important...that finish is ahmazing! Going to paint our cabinets a cream and think this would look great with them! Love!
I want to do my kitchen and bath countertops to update them to get ready to put the house on the market. I’m nervous but watching you makes it look so easy
@@RK3Designs how would you recommend doing this with countertops that have sink built in.. w/o removing from vanity. Won’t the epoxy clog the drain? I assume you would need to avoid letting it go down the drain somehow...
You’ll need to disconnect the drain. We usually take the actual drain plug out and tape it. Then just let the epoxy run down into a bucket. As soon as the epoxy starts to get set, pull the tape. The only other way would be to plug the drain and just keep taking the epoxy out as it runs down the sink.
Watched 3x, I 💕 this! I’ve been looking for a technique for soft granite effect with more depth/layers, and this looks easy enough. Rhonda, you did it again! My new fave 👍
Watch LOTS of videos and start with small projects to build up your confidence. If you roll on the Ultimate Top Coat by Stonecoat Countertop (available on our website www.RK3Designs.com ) you can use your countertops in two days. 😊
This is so beautiful. I love it but I am looking to do something with creamy colors and some browns. Like Colonial Cream granite. Could you do one like that? Thanks! Love your videos and am learning a lot.
Love it. 🥂 This is exactly what I was looking for except I won't use the Montana marble silly string cause I see lumps of it on the surface and I'm too lazy to sand it down. 😇 Would I need to cover this with another coat of epoxy and then a UTC, or just a few coats of UTC? THANKS. 👍🏻
How can I get this look on a 1 piece counter sink combo in my bathroom? I have a sink that has the built in lip. I have seen you video on the sink that doesn't have the lip. Thanks for the help!
Is the sink made of stone or wood? If you can sand it down flat, that would be the optimal thing. If it’s not sandable, you can trowel on a layer of self leveling Quick dry cement to level, let dry then pour.
I’m ordering everything to do this on my kitchen but, do I order more SCC to account for the clear coat or, is that already factored in? I have a very small amount of counter space, about 23 square feet, so is 1 gallon enough or, should I order 1 1/2 gallons? I am disabled and on a very limited budget so, every penny really matters when I order what I need! I would really, really appreciate it if you could possibly respond quickly! Thank you so much for these amazing videos!! I was so afraid of epoxy until I found you!! 🥰
Aww. You are too sweet. You’ll need 3 oz. / sq ft for each layer. So you’ll have your color coat and your flood coat. So that 23 sq ft x 6. You’ll need 138 oz so I would order 1 1/2 gallons. Order the Art Coat since it’s a white finish. If you order from my website before noon, I’ll ship it the same day. 😊 www.rk3designs.com/shop#epoxy-resin
So after you do this for a kitchen countertop, do you put anything on top or is it good to go? Thinking about doing this. Will be my first time using epoxy.
I love these colors and method! Can you use the blow torch after the montana marble? The final shot looked like there may have still been some bubbles.
Just about all countertop material in my opinion can be stained if not cleaned within a reasonable time. We’ve started applying the Ultimate Top Coat to all of our countertops for durability. I’ve done many stain test and the UTC really does make them stain resistant. I also use a product called “Totally Awesome” it’s truly a fabulous cleaning product. I’ve not found an item yet that will stain it.
I did my counter tops recently, I started off with my primer (I bought a marble kit) and then drew on the veins and finished off by putting the epoxy on top. I regret not having had added more veins, is there any way i can go back and add veins even though the epoxy has dried?
I have a laminate countertop with a backsplash, how do I address the backsplash when I use apoxy. Do I sand down the laminated counter top before I paint n prime. Thanks for your help😃
Yes. You’ll want to scuff sand the surface, than prime with a good Bonding primer. I use XIM. Then proceed. Most of the time we remove the backsplash. It will be very difficult to get this finish in a verticals surface because the epoxy is going to run off. We actually make backslashes out of MDF, pour then flat, then install. 😊
Do you need the Behr paint & primer for substrate on this? Gotta know how much it will really cost start to Finnish!! Also, my counters have a 1\4 to -/8 “ lip , is that going to be a problem with leveling??? Or should I go buy flat counter tops first? I really can’t afford that but, I’m gonna do it right so,, hit me with what you think I should do!!!🥰🥰🥰
Love this and have learned so much from your videos! I’ve noticed spray paints are always used with epoxy. Is there a reason? Can any other type of paints be used when working with epoxy?
Hey Lori, thanks for watching. I like to use spray paint because it gives me so many options and I can get effects that can’t be achieved any other way. You do have to make sure they the epoxy you’re using is compatible with spray paint. Not all epoxies are. I usually only use spray paints.
Hi there!! Do you ever have stone coat countertop affiliate links and or price saving codes? Any Labor Day sales going on over there? Thank you!! You rock, Sister! 😊
Hey there. I don’t have an affiliate link with SCC at this time and I’m not aware of any Labor Day couple codes they are running. I’m actually in the process of becoming a distributor and will have an online store as well. We should be up and running in the next few weeks. Check out my website FMI and sign up for our newsletter to receive updates, special discounts and more 😊. www.rk3designs.com/
Love this and would like to do this to my kitchen! Do you suffer removing the sink and is,and stove, or can they just be protected? And I have tile on the edges of the countertop. Is that a deterrent?
If you’re doing a pour in place, I do suggest removing sinks, stove tops etc. if you pour without removing, you’ll have to damage the countertop if you decide to remove later.
Oh I’m sorry. I forgot to address that question. You’ll need to either remove the tile or Bondo over the tile. You’ll want to use a bonding primer first so you’ll have good adhesion.
I'm adding a second comment because my RUclips freezes whenever I edit a comment I already posted... just wanted to say that when I eventually have to sell my mother's house, I'm doing what you did here to the counters!
You need to use a flooring epoxy and a thin set concrete to level out the grout lines and tile first. I don’t recommend ever going over tile in case the tile itself ever lifts. I would remove the tile first and then prep correctly and go over the original substrate.
@@RK3Designs thank you for your response. One last question; can this process work with my bathroom counter/sink which is a molded, all-in-one piece that is inseparable?
WARNING: inhaling fumes from spray paint can be very toxic. Even in outdoor settings or well ventilated rooms. PLEASE use a face mask when spraying And careful about these "how to" videos. Thank you!! 😊😊😊
Great teaching !! Again very comprehensive..Thank you so much ..
You’re very welcome. Thanks for watching!!
Would love to see an Artic Ice and winter or autumn carnival.
Could you do this on an integrated bathroom sink/countertop
Yes. You would want to let the epoxy thicken up and apply several times when doing the vertical surface.
I think this is my favorite so far! AWESOME!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. You are an awesome speaker mixing wonderful techniques for us and having fun doing it. Love your foil techniques
Have you tried a decoupage version for the counter?
LOVE this design...would use black and gray Montana marble spray ❤
I'm going to try this, but add some blues, maybe some blue earth metallic
It will be gorgeous!! 👍🏼
That's amazing, love your work!!! AMAZING
Thank you so much!!
Another wonderful look!
Love this finish and I really love the pink gloves

This is a very beautiful finish I would try to use some blue in the piece 💙
Blue would have been gorgeous!
Wonderful work. Just loved it!
Would this finish work in a bathroom with an existing vanity that has the backsplash?
Awesome job, Rhonda! Love the look! Thanks for sharing!
You bet!!! Thank you for watching!!! ❤️
what do you put after it dry to protect the surface
Could you do one like this but us blue sparingly
Sure you can!!!!😊
Love that! Needed a lighter granite.
Can spray paint be used with most epoxy
Love it. 🥂

THANKS. 👍🏻
Thank you!! I always recommend a final flood coat for protection on any countertop followed by the UTC. 😊
I really like your techniques and you explain them so well!!!
Thank you so much and thanks for watching!!!
Great technique with waiting for epoxy to set up a bit!
Love it Rhonda!

@@RK3Designs It's manufactured resin from the 90's. The sink is molded in with the countertop.

I love these colors and method! Can you use the blow torch after the montana marble? The final shot looked like there may have still been some bubbles.
Thank you...you can use the torch, but sometimes the MM will leave texture and won't lay out super smooth. The flood coat will talk care of this.
Does stone coat epoxy stain?
Just about all countertop material in my opinion can be stained if not cleaned within a reasonable time. We’ve started applying the Ultimate Top Coat to all of our countertops for durability. Approximately how much is a 1/4oz of metallic? Would you say that would be one half teaspoon full?
If you get the bags I use off my website, it’s half a bag. I need to see how many teaspoons it is though. Great question! www.rk3designs.com
@@RK3Designs Thanks, Rhonda! Much appreciated!
Do you need to wait till the first coat of epoxy is complete dry and hard to do the second coat?
I wait about 12 hours. It needs to be a least hard enough to scuff sand.
@@RK3Designs thank you! just did my countertop and it turned out AMAZING!!

You can add another layer of clear and then add additional veins. Will give your piece lots of depth 😊
Great video.Would love to see you use Platinum and Ultimate by SCC for an outdoor patio or doorway steps in a dark granite design.
Love this! Did you put anything over the top to seal it? Like another coat of epoxy?
Yes. You’ll want to follow up with a clear flood coat.
Great! Question. How long can you have the alcohol with mica powder in the bottles if you don't use all of it?
The mica will never go bad. If you don't store in an airtight container the alcohol will evaporate over time. All you'll need to do is add more 😊
