The engine sounds a lot more similar to what it sounded like in the cutscenes of NFSMW and NFSC, than the P60B40. But that sound in the cutscenes was also pretty sick, I've heard from some people the sound used in the cutscenes was that of a Judd 3.4 L V8.
actually the intro sound (when you are travelling with Mia) of mw gtr was from the actual race car.

Yes, the clanking of the gears (or impact between them) repeats like thousands of times per second, thats why the gearbox whine.
Most cars have straight cut reverse gears, thats why they also do the whine.

MCboy Craft It's a 7.2 in power, it's barely stronger than my 180sx. The Polestar has a 10. Have yet to actually use it in a chase though. Plus power doesn't affect health anyways, just how hard you hit. Got to have that damage reduction.
My best pursuit was in Earl's Evo which lasted 48 minutes. Needless to say, those were the good days. Just a shame that I never finished the game then but now it's onto the xbox 360

The sound is not the original, but the Essence is there. That car is really a legend.
What a Monster when maxed out
It's the same sound used in M3 E92 that uses the S65B40 engine (or perhaps the P65B40 with the plain crank shaft), since the M3 E92 and the M3 E46/GTR almost have the same chassis in them.
The sound you hear in Most Wanted and Carbon are from a P60B40 engine.

I love that you put this engine to a lot of cars in the game. My GNX her looks (stain black, red headlights, flames, nitro and neon) and with this sound is basically my most insanest cars in my garage.
I'm so happy that this was the first NFS game of the ones after 2012 (which was rip) that I tried on my new PC. The M3 is back! :)

I saw some people think it's Razor's car.
Here:
The player character in NFS Most Wanted came to rockport, he tried to beat up razor with the Bmw m3 gtr, wich was the player's own car.
Two of the blacklist members opened the oil pan on the BMW M3 GTR right before the race.
At 80% of the progress, Mia noticed the oil leak at the start, she notified the player, player continued the race until the bmw broke down, without oil lubrication, the engine starts overheating damaging the parts and doesnt work properly on higher revolutions. The truth about the race is that it was a pink slip (winner takes the loser's car), wich resulted in razor taking the Bmw.
So you see, razor took the car after "winning" the pink slip after cheating, he doesnt own it.

2 months ago I thought nfs was boring until that one day I was bored and installed nfs payback because it was free. 2 weeks later I learned the history of nfs and I discovered the m3 gtr. Sins then I never have driven an other car than the m3. Now I've bought nfs heat just because the m3 is included (and the other legend cars) has the right sound
