Anxiety when getting behind the wheel is very normal, some people suffer more than others. What I would say is, a slow learner is a fast learner. So drive slowly and use the time to learn what you need to do. Trying to keep up with traffic will stunt your progress, you will get abuse from other drivers when learning slowly but your skill and confidence will improve this way. Try not to look at the faces of other drivers and you won't see if they're rushing you. I myself rarely look at faces, only cars. That is of course if your aniexty is caused by being the new kid in the playground scenario which is most people in my experience. First thing really is to figure out what exactly you're anxious about and find a way to tackle it.
Depends on the handbrake design. In my car it's best not to hold the button in but on most with a longer ratchet, not holding the button in makes an awful sound so most people opt to hold the button in for sound comfort. Although, it doesn't really matter.
Over time, this can cause wear on the ratchet teeth. Also, it can shorten the life of the brake cable as it is easier to stretch it when you don't press in the button. The sound isn't great either!
Thanks for this helpful video! Do you apply the handbrake before you go into reverse coming out of a parking space, or is just when you’re reversing on a slope?
I only apply the parking brake when parked or possibly to help with a hill start. Generally I don't use the handbrake method for hills though, but it's a good method for inexperienced drivers.
Ah good ,see my driving instructor has got an little like switch u pull up for handbrake and was thinking in my test it's not guaranteed to have the same car and might have one of these types so now I know so thank you
If the car has electronic handbrake with autohold, and you need to press the brake to release the handbrake, do you need to use it during a driving test or can you use the auto hold
When slowing down to a stop do you have to press the foot brake before you apply the handbrake or is applying the handbrake before completely stopping bad? I noticed you did this in one of your videos and was curious because I feel it would make stop start in traffic easier 🤔.
Did I? You should stop with the foot brake before you use the handbrake. There was an video where I used the handbrake / parking brakes to stop the car to demonstrate what you can do when the brakes fail.
The handbrake's primary purpose is to secure the vehicle when it is stationary; the footbrake is for slowing the vehicle when it is moving. Both _can_ be used in either situation, but it is important to remember that the handbrake could cause you to lose control if you apply it at speed, because it only operates on the vehicle's back wheels. Hope that helps.
Question: How do you perform a hill start in a car with an electronic handbrake that requires you to press the footbrake to disengage it?. I can't think of a way to press all 3 pedals at the same time lol
@@ConquerDriving That's what I've read but in my instructor's car, it doesn't do it automatically. The electronic handbrake only disengages once you press the footbrake and lift the handbrake up with your finger. So with that being said, how can I hill start you reckon?
Which do you refer, parking brake or handbrake. I prefer handbrake; I wasn't taught otherwise. Parking brake gives the impression that it is only used when parking. I believe it is the parking brake in the US and it has migrated over here!
Hi dear, thank you for your effort for making such nice videos super-stars, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Question? Can we use hand brake in the middle of traffic or in queue of traffic or at the front of traffic waiting at the red-lights?
How about if I’m driving automatic car do we need apply the hand brake while waiting on light traffic or not during the driving test 🙈 ? Thank u very much in advanced
You only need to apply the parking brake for parking. You can apply it more if you wish but there's no need. Make sure you stay on the footbrake to keep the car still when you need to.
Sir, but here I get a question which seems that nobody has ever told me concretely. What are the actual differences between pulling the handbrake handle up smoothly by keeping pressing the button, and pulling the handbrake up without touching that button so the handle gives out "kalalalalak!" something like spring or gear sound? Both of them look like working the same fine for me, without it dropping itself down again. I can't find their differences. I saw there're so many Asian drivers especially taxi or van drivers pulling up their handbrake without a thumb on that button, every time they pull. Hope if you could tell a bit detailedly.
It doesn't really matter what method you use as long as it's high enough to secure the car. Some say it's safer not to hold the button in as it prevents the ratchet getting caught halfway between two ratchet notches.
@@ConquerDriving But I heard so many British instructors told we must hold the button and should not hear any ratchet sounds while pulling up. I can't think their difference. That makes my brain full of confusion.
@@ConquerDriving I was on about when applying the handbrake . I’m learning in a car with a button handbrake so trying to learn ins and out of it for when I get my own car
Ahhh, this was when I used my smartphone camera and I think I filmed it upside down and then flipped it when editing but as a result of flipping it the angle is the other way now so it looks uphill but the rear of my car was definitely pointing downhill. Whoops, good spot!

Opinions do differ on button in or out (for putting parking brake on) but In pure engineering design, it's only for releasing.

You do not hold the button when pulling up/ engaging brake. Only for putting down.

@@ConquerDriving the only issue is with holding the button it may not have the full grip. The noise is a good indicator that it's set in place
@@ConquerDriving If the sound bothers someone, I recommend living with it if they're a learner, as it's safer. Later on, feel free to change that.

Going from a button handbrake to when I’d pass and have a normal one like you how on earth do I know/learn to use it

Shall I apply the handbrake at stop lines or if the car is stationery for more than 3 seconds?
You can if you like, I usually only used it for parking or a steep hill start.
Can we put engine in gear at the steeper part of the hill along with hand break?
